The International Cat federation has banned Russian cats and Russian bred cats from competing. Good call!

@GeidiPrimes

So you really think the newspapers (and everyone else) are lying and Ukraine hasn't been invaded?

Do you know what propaganda is? Our media is heavily censored, just like russia, although we believe otherwise. This "war" is to shift weapons and make money. There are no sides.

This is absolutely ridiculous. You need to give yourself a shake and think about how often a country just drives tanks into another and shells the people to make money. Enormous waste of money more like. There’s nothing as expensive with as little economic reward as war.

God the idiots do come out of the woodwork on this topic.

No cat belonging to a Russian exhibitor can be entered into a show.
No Russian bred cat can be imported (exported) or registered outside Russia.

So I think a Siberian breed can belonging to Sarah from London is ok.
But a British shorthair belonging to Boris from Moscow isn’t.

Haha, fair enough! Grin I'll lighten up, thanks I probably needed that nudge. I am still half traumatised reading the 400 messages on dc's WA group trying to see an eye on things. This thread is better.

Marmelace · 03/03/2022 19:08

Fuck me, Grin that'll piss Putrid right off!!!

VikingVolva · 03/03/2022 19:20

@GeidiPrimes

Sooooo.... Russia hasn't really invaded Ukraine then?

Certainly according to the newspapers Smile

It's not as clear-cut as that though. USA have been prodding for a long time. I'm sure they'd have something to say if russian bases were installed in a neighboring country.

They did

We came very close to nuclear war

What about a Russian who has lived in England for years?

If they’re registered as a U.K. breeder/exhibitor I think they’re ok.

ABitBesotted · 03/03/2022 20:19

Any whiff of Russianness is too much.

Let's boycott the Royal Ballet, whose two finest dancers (Vadim and Natalia) are Russian.

And the Wombles, because there's one called Tomsk.

Viviennemary · 05/03/2022 20:15

Apparently at least one Russian ballet company has cancelled/cut it's UK tour. So it's not just the cats.

the Bolshoi can no longer come to the ROH this summer for logistical reasons. They can't guarantee flights/safe passage for the dancers will be possible.

If you think this a good thing, you're a philistine.

myrtleWilson · 05/03/2022 20:26

None of our Siberians have ever liked the snow - I think they may be defective. One was quite taken by Paddington 2 though so perhaps they recognised a bear (or maybe they have Peruvian heritage in their Siberian genes)

NeverDropYourMooncup · 05/03/2022 20:44

@Juno22

It's ridiculous. I'm all for sanctions against their government and the oligarchs but it's spilling over into xenophobia affecting ordinary Russian people. I heard a man on the radio this morning who said that his 8 year old son is being bullied (his wife is Russian). That's awful but it's starting to happen.
I don't think that anybody who has the money to own/breed animals to the standard of international competitions and travel to them with all the quarantine/anti rabies/etc restrictions can ever be described as an 'ordinary Russian'.
