I'm on tenterhooks and cannot wait until tomorrow to find out what school my dc have got into.
We live in london and the results don't get published until 5pm so it's going to be a long day.

Anybody else waiting and want to join me In my pacing or sit on me so that I don't wear a hole in the carpet?

My email didn't arrive till 7:30pm last time so hoping portal doesn't crash.

Butitsnotfunnyisititsserious · 01/03/2022 16:56

@GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing

They seemed to go out alphabetically, as dd whose surname begins with B had her offer before friends further down the alphabet
Oh no we're near the end of the alphabet! 🤦🏻‍♀️😂
Butitsnotfunnyisititsserious · 01/03/2022 17:00

1st choice of school 🥳

Comedycook · 01/03/2022 17:00

Butitsnotfunnyisititsserious · 01/03/2022 17:03

I hope you get it soon. I didn't get an email, I just logged in to check. Have you tried to see if it's there without an email?

Drywhitefruitycidergin · 01/03/2022 17:05

Woo hoo - 1st choice such a relief!! Dd1 is ecstatic.

ExitToTheLeft · 01/03/2022 17:09

Knew this was going to happen second choice for ds1 and the awful school for ds2, so angry I could cry.

Eadmissions portal for our borough is up. We got our 3rd choice, which is fine, but I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed that a place comes up at 1st of 2nd before September.

Comedycook · 01/03/2022 17:12

Just logged on....first choice. So happy

Interviewdisaster · 01/03/2022 17:16

I’m so sorry @ExitToTheLeft. Are they twins? It seems bizarre to split them up.

cheesenpickle · 01/03/2022 17:21

@doubleraspberry - yes it was for us too. I think in York most people get there first choice., we are very fortunate. I moved from London which is very different and a very stressful wait!

Why have they split them

Me too, and we moved in mid-November, so although the admissions people said it would be treated as an on-time application, I've been slightly jittery. My London friends are now going through what the people on this thread are - commiserations and congratulations to you all. It's tough.

We got our dream primary off the waiting list, so don't give up quite yet.

They've split them up?! I'm so sorry, hopefully you can contact admissions and get them moved to another school
ExitToTheLeft · 01/03/2022 17:55

Yes they've split them up. I don't know why and now I know why the council announces at 5pm as I was straight on the phone.

I will definitely start an appeal and hopefully ds2 will get a place based on the fact ds1 has got in.

@ExitToTheLeft what does the admission criteria say about twins? Assuming you put the same 6 choices for them both I'm surprised they've split them?

That's awful. I hope you get them into the same school Sad
LetsGoCrazyPurpleBanana · 01/03/2022 18:13

Not looking to going through this next year 😔

doctorboo · 01/03/2022 18:14

A text saying I can check the results came through a few mins ago.
I haven’t logged on yet as I need to get all three children showered and then make pancakes.

DH has been saying things like: “this is the bus you’ll get to school/this is the stop you’ll get off at” for ages - despite me constantly reminding him and DS that we won’t know until results day and we could end up with 6th place horrible school!

I recently caught the bus that goes to 2 of the nearest schools at 8am, and had to get my elbows out and use my adult voice to actually get on. The kids didn’t give a shiny shit that adults were boarding too.
My son (asd and adhd) would be still standing on the pavement if it’d have been him trying to get on.

Assuming not a grammar/comp situation? You have an excellent case to say the prejudice to your DS of being separated from his twin outweighs any prejudice to the other DS’s school caused by admitting one extra pupil. My mum successfully appealed when my twin brothers were separated. First stop, go back to the admission criteria and check what it says about multiple births. Then gather any evidence you can about the detriment to your DS of being separated and begin writing your appeal. Can’t help but think it’s an administration oversight - good luck
ExitToTheLeft · 01/03/2022 21:41

I've trawled through the admissions criteria but nothing is coming up regarding twins only siblings which I know that's what they are, but I think in some schools they are regarded as one application

I know on their first choice it clearly stated one wouldn't get a place even if the other was offered, but again I would have grounds for appeal as they are siblings.

I need to get a good nights sleep tonight, give the school a call and find out where he is on the waiting list first then I will start writing my appeal.
I have a good feeling he will get in.

bellabelly · 01/03/2022 21:46

@ExitToTheLeft - the TwinsTrust ppl can probably help you with your appeal. Here's a link link - hope it's helpful. As a fellow twin mum, I'm wishing you every success with appealing. Here in Kent, multiples are guaranteed a place if one gets the last space - apart from Grammar Schools.

Playdoughcaterpillar · 01/03/2022 22:31

@ExitToTheLeft surely your other twin must be right at the top of the waiting list and therefore has a great chance of getting a place on second round? I really hope it works out for you. That's truly shitty

Emmelina · 01/03/2022 22:35

That’s really awful they’ve been split. Did you have a checkbox when you applied for each twin to say they’re part of a multiple birth?

DoNotTouchTheWater · 02/03/2022 06:54

No wonder you were feeling so anxious in advance @ExitToTheLeft. Hopefully it’ll all get sorted out soon and they’ll both be going to the same school.
