I'm on tenterhooks and cannot wait until tomorrow to find out what school my dc have got into.
We live in london and the results don't get published until 5pm so it's going to be a long day.

Anybody else waiting and want to join me In my pacing or sit on me so that I don't wear a hole in the carpet?

Thanks for words of encouragement. I’ve reminded myself how much DH and I also liked the school when we visited, we have friends who teach there, it’s the best school academically locally (though they are all pretty average so that’s not saying much Grin ) and even though it’s a bus ride it’s not actually very far away. I was the only kid in my school to go to my secondary and I fared okay and I need to not project my insecurities onto her. Hopefully she’ll be pleased when I tell her. Her biggest problem will be waking up in time to get the bus, the lazy sod!

TristesseDurera · 01/03/2022 07:46

Another London borough here waiting nervously. If we don't get our first choice something is really wrong... we are very near& my kids go to a school which has extra feeder places.

TwoMountains · 01/03/2022 07:51

@Dy10DY11

We’re in Durham.
Someone on Facebook posted a link to the parent portal - looks like I’m not the only person who couldn’t find it - so I’ve been able to log in and we’ve got our first choice Smile

I hope you get the school you want, the extra wait must be very stressful

nearlyspringyay · 01/03/2022 07:53

London borough - ours is after 1700. In the primary round all those years ago the it system broke and they had to send it by letter. Those were a few tense days 😩

We should be fine this time around, DH teaches there and we are usually in catchment. Still anxiety inducing, the other options are really not good.

DrDreReturns · 01/03/2022 07:55

I'm in Worcestershire and the results have been delayed due to 'technical issues!'

DoNotTouchTheWater · 01/03/2022 07:57

No email here but I (eventually) found the portal and managed to log in. The result was exactly as expected. I’m not excited because I don’t even like the only school I applied for. I was just resigned to it being the only choice in the system. And all DS’s friends will be going too. They can all enjoy the prison camp ethos together.

ExitToTheLeft · 01/03/2022 08:06

Why do they have to wait until 5?

I actually feel a bit calmer today but I'll be at work at 5 so will have to call dc and let them know.

I think they wait till five so that you can't call the council offices that day...and can sleep on it. I'm in London and will know at five. I barely slept last night.
Doozy1991 · 01/03/2022 08:31

4pm email and 5pm online here in Kent... I haven't slept through worry 😂

Spaghag · 01/03/2022 08:34

I think there could be some disappointed people in our town today from looking at the actual admissions figures.

We have three high school options (no grammars). Two were hugely over subscribed. One school has taken 8 over its PAN (an extra pupil per form) and the third less popular school has been given a whole extra form over PAN (29 pupils).

Traditionally some places go to children from neighbouring towns & villages that aren't in catchment but doesn't seem like that will have happened this year.

ExitToTheLeft · 01/03/2022 08:47

@Comedycook My council barely answer the phone so I doubt it would make a difference Grin
Just tell me now!

@doubleraspberry. I'm in York and just received an email so didn't even have to log on to portal.

Dy10DY11 · 01/03/2022 09:27

@TwoMountains that's great for you! Smile

@DrDreReturns waiting here with you!

Doubleraspberry · 01/03/2022 10:20

@cheesenpickle thanks, mine popped up shortly after I posted. It's good news for us - hope the same for you.

Do you work in admissions? sounds like you've seen all the figures. Something will have gone really wrong if we don't get our first choice. I'm dreading having to deal with that. Just wish they would hurry up.
@Butitsnotfunnyisititsserious What borough of you don't mind me asking?

@Ahhhhhbisto I just googled my borough and it came up on their website.
I missed this! Im Harrow how about you? Im so impatient today 😂

Babadook76 · 01/03/2022 11:07

There’s people on my Fb saying that they haven’t received an email yet, but if you log into the council portal thing it says on there (haven’t checked myself so don’t know if it’s the same for everyone). As for my dd she got accepted into her first choice which is has been the most over subscribed school in the county for years. I felt like cracking open the wine at 2am when the email came through, I was up most of the night constantly refreshing the page, I couldn’t relax!

This isn't true for London. Still no info on the website either.
Dy10DY11 · 01/03/2022 12:14

Didn't get first choice. Gutted 😭

DrDreReturns · 01/03/2022 13:47

@Dy10DY11 I was going to mention that we've had our decision but I see you've already posted. We got our first place but it would have been really surprising if we hadn't - her brother is at that school.

Ah well only child here. Sad Trying to feel ok about the school he's got in. Need to be ok by time he gets home!

wowsaidtheowl · 01/03/2022 15:25

@ExitToTheLeft we’re Southwark too but our first choice is a school in Lewisham. It’s torture waiting.

Drywhitefruitycidergin · 01/03/2022 15:56

Is there only London left now??? Torture.....
