Anyone finding the tone of this really quite terrifying...

I’m not one to get myself in a tizz over sensationalised news but this is starting to feel very different!

@JaniieJones

'Personally i couldn't care less, the more russian soldiers that starve the better it is for the Ukrainians.'

Jesus.

We can all agree Putin is a crazed dictator who isn't going going stop without saying unpleasant crap like this.

Sorry you support the Russian military Janiie but i don't.

They wear a Russian uniform, they are our enemy, give them a hot meal and they'll be back shelling civilians & if Putin ordered them too, they'd be into Poland without a 2nd thought.

Alexandra2001 · 25/02/2022 09:23

@Keepyourheadscrewedon @Tigersonvaseline Start a thread on it then and stop derailing this one?

They're conscripts.

SueSaid · 25/02/2022 09:26

'Sorry you support the Russian military Janiie but i don't.'

Well of course I don't support the Russian military.

Wishing for starvation of soldiers though is a bit extreme though.

Keepyourheadscrewedon · 25/02/2022 09:27

Janiie anything you say will be twisted, and alex after supporting Russia for the last 48 hours is quite suddenly now not supporting Russia at all and wants all the soldiers to die. Odd.

SueSaid · 25/02/2022 09:28

'Start a thread on it then and stop derailing this one?'

I haven't seen anyone derailing anything. The thread is 'BJ addresses the nation' regarding the current Ukraine crisis. That is what is being discussed.

Anyone discussing 'partygate' would be derailing.

If people do so much as protest in Russia they are arrested, if not murdered. What do you think would happen to Russian men who refuse to do their compulsory service? It might be hard to imagine coming from a place like the UK, but the people of Russia do not get the choices that we do. They live under corruption, dictatorship, not free will and democracy.

I agree with this and pp the extremes from one day to next seem odd.
Keepyourheadscrewedon · 25/02/2022 09:35

Defence Secretary has confirmed that Russia did not achieve their aims yesterday and are running out of supplies and armour.

You mis understand, BEFORE the fighting, yes, as the song goes, Give Peace a Chance but that time has gone.

My sympathy is with the Ukrainians NOT with Russian soldiers, its very weird that you are happy to see them die with bullets and bombs but don't want to see them starve.

As i said earlier, feed them up and they'll be back attacking Ukraine "following orders" is not a defence against war crimes & despite what politicians say, we are witnessing war crimes.

Keepyourheadscrewedon · 25/02/2022 09:37

And a heavy loss of people

(sky news source, live)

Alexandra2001 · 25/02/2022 09:39

@MarshaBradyo Its not odd at all - the situation has changed completely from 2 or 3 days ago.

..and that is reflected in the west's response too.

Keepyourheadscrewedon · 25/02/2022 09:40

Anyone who cares about Ukraine should be looking at the live news right now.

Keepyourheadscrewedon · 25/02/2022 09:40

I don't buy it marsha

Exactly why German civilians weren't put on trial in 1945/6 nor hunted down ever since.

But conscripted soldiers who took part in war crimes were.

The Russians protesting on the streets of Moscow etc are hero's, how many of us would do the same?

Keepyourheadscrewedon · 25/02/2022 09:45

I would do the same, I would do everything I possibly could to bring down that fucker.

Alexandra2001 · 25/02/2022 09:45

How come you can change your stance but i cannot? You wanted NATO in there attacking Russian soldiers, quite happy to see them blown to bits by US made shells BUT now, you have all this sympathy for the 'common soldier who is a bit hungry..... odd.
Keepyourheadscrewedon · 25/02/2022 09:46

I have respect for ALL humanity alex something you don't seem to understand.

Alexandra2001 · 25/02/2022 09:47

I'd like to think i would but the reality of me & family being imprisoned/executed? i don't know i really don't - they are extremely brave.

Keepyourheadscrewedon · 25/02/2022 09:48

It is the difference between us, and always has been. We value all human life, their human rights and freedom to choose.

That is what we are fighting over now no? That is what this all about, a clash of civilisation.

Keepyourheadscrewedon · 25/02/2022 09:50

The starving teenage boy forced into an army fighting for something he doesn't understand is just as vulnerable as the child on the ground hiding from rockets. They are just children and did not choose this on either side. There is only one man responsible for all of this suffering and it is Putin.

Oh my sainted aunt, i ve read it all now.

you need to decide which side you 're on here.

notsurehowtostop · 25/02/2022 10:07

Alexandra, surely you can understand that given all Russian men between 18-30 are conscripted, that protesters are pushed out of windows, that Russia in itself is a dictatorship means that it is a more complex situation than just wishing death on Russian soldiers?

Everybody here wants the Russians to stop. Nobody is saying go on Russia, keep killing. People are saying that every life lost here is a tragedy. If my boys (thankfully 16 years too young for conscription) were ever in this position where they were forced to fight in a war that any normal person doesn't want, does it mean I'm supporting the wrong team if I don't want them to die? Normal Russians are speaking out that they don't want this, they are risking their lives protesting in the streets, some of these people are guaranteed to have friends, family, children that are completely of the same train of thought but are forced on to the front line.

The powerful men forcing people to die for their countries are never the ones to actually suffer the consequences. The one person I'd cheer being killed in this war is Putin. Every other life lost, shouldn't of happened. There is no solution, you can't not fight back because many of the Russians are acting against their will, no, Ukraine needs to defend itself. But you can have some compassion for a truly horrific situation.

What I think people don't understand is why you're saying this now, when yesterday you were treating us all to a breathless commentary on every Russian death like some kind of cheerleader of the damned.
Tigersonvaseline · 25/02/2022 10:43

Most posters are having a balanced discussion about this crisis, as a whole.
Some other posters only want to repeatedly tell us what we already know and shout " down with the government".

I imagine even if Corybn And his cronies were in power right now they would be getting excited.shouting and waving their little red books down with the government, down with the government with the speaker of the house having to intervene

" You ARE the government"
