Anyone finding the tone of this really quite terrifying...

I’m not one to get myself in a tizz over sensationalised news but this is starting to feel very different!

There is literally nothing you can do with these people, and they are used as pawns to prevent the real discussion taking place.

Are you sure you're not looking in the mirror. This is EXACTLY what you are doing.

That was my point. You are shutting down discussion and decreasing it with trying to police what people say then accusing them of being Russian bots when they don't adhere to you rule.

Fwiw I have no idea if Johnson and our government are doing a good job or a bad one, in what is a massively delicate scenario. I don't envy the choices they will have to make (and have had to). I can well imagine it weighs heavy on them all. I am fully prepared to observe and see - desperately hoping they are up to the job they have been given.

But that doesn't mean anyone who expresses concern is a bad person or a Russian stooge.

Keepyourheadscrewedon · 25/02/2022 08:36

Also if they are desperate they fight harder. Don't assume Putin hasn't got this all worked out in his evil mind

Ten days without food will make them weak and tired juergen , and that is probably why some have defected out of desperation. These are kids we are talking about, teens that have no real idea why they are even there

(Along with the rest of the world)

leopooh · 25/02/2022 08:36

@JaniieJones I'm laughing at your statement He is doing as well as any leader can in this grave situation.

I thought that was clear but then you also posting the above so 🤷🏻‍♀️

Alexandra2001 · 25/02/2022 08:37

@JaniieJones

'The speeches yesterday were unified, all three speeches from all three parties were incredibly evocative'

Yes. Starmer and Backford understanding the gravity of the situation and for once not using it as an excuse to try and score points.

Yet here some are on mn, childish name calling and sneering. Even lolling.

Yes if the hot air expended in Parliament could be turned into a weapon the Ukrainians could use, the Russians would be running back over the the border with their tales between their legs.

Once again JJ you prove yourself up to the task when it comes to sneering and name calling.

Keepyourheadscrewedon · 25/02/2022 08:37

So what do you think about the Moscow times backward and alex lets talk about that article and why the Russian kids have been packed off to war with no food.

Keepyourheadscrewedon · 25/02/2022 08:38

Lets talk about why the Russian offensive is pausing on the second day for 'regrouping'

DinnoWoman · 25/02/2022 08:39

If I was a Russian stooge I'd be making a load of witless anti Putin posts that were so stupid no one could possibly have any common ground with the poster. I'd also have a couple of sock puppets inexplicably agreeing with me.

Keepyourheadscrewedon · 25/02/2022 08:41

Isn't strange how so many seem so intent to prove that they are not 'Russian stooges'. Whatever they are. I have never heard of that expression to be fair at least twenty years.

So many protesting that they 'can not wait' to see the end of Putin whilst also posting the contrary. Constantly.

Hornetfarmer · 25/02/2022 08:41

Why on earth are you laughing? Wtf is funny?

You're absolutely right. It shouldn't be funny but his response is a joke. Our sanctions were laughable. James Cleverly played the racism card on BBCQT last night when David Lammy dared question the huge amount of money donated by Russians. We can't even open our borders:

thenewduchessoflapland · 25/02/2022 08:42

From what I understand the only thing the rest of the world can do is whilst Hitler 2.0 goes off on his villain arc is impose sanctions as he's threatening any other countries who place practical help on the ground with violence;I'm not relishing the thought of the potentially of weapons of mass destruction being fired on the U.K as god only knows what Putin has hidden in Russia.

I told you earlier.

Disappointed you also believe this invasion is not a war crime.

SueSaid · 25/02/2022 08:42

'Yes if the hot air expended in Parliament could be turned into a weapon the Ukrainians could use, the Russians would be running back over the the border with their tales between their legs.'

Hot air? What would you suggest?

You do know that NATO members are all acting in unity. This isn't Bozo doing his own thing you know.

Keepyourheadscrewedon · 25/02/2022 08:44

This is a war crime, and if Putin survives for any length of time he will be sent to prison indefinitely for this illegal invasion.

You did not tell me earlier alex about the poor Russian soldiers, I thought you would be able to offer an informed view, so I was looking forward to hearing why the Kremlin have spent those poor kids to battle with no food. Was this tactical? Because it seems to be backfiring rather badly.

If your being serious... are they? has the UK sent more troops? helping with taking in refugees? lagging behind the EU and US on limited sanctions (we haven't yet bought in the laws required)

Sure BJ and others are saying the right things but given Govt and opposition cannot even call the invasion a war crime (inc you and keep), expect Putin to be pushing 'West as soon as he has finished with Ukraine.

MrsSkylerWhite · 25/02/2022 08:48

Reluctantadult

I hope he takes some action but worry it'll just be talk.“

What action do you think the UK should take?

Keepyourheadscrewedon · 25/02/2022 08:49

Alex, lets talk about the soldiers that are starving, you said you had posted about it earlier, but I can't see it.

Do you know why Putin would starve his own army?

Keepyourheadscrewedon · 25/02/2022 08:50

I am not sure why alex and others are ignoring the fact that the Russian army is starving, isn't that also a war crime? Surely not even legal in defunct Russia.

Alexandra2001 · 25/02/2022 08:52

Neither you nor i can offer an "informed view" we aren't on the ground and don't know the mind of Putin.
But i told you i was glad they were suffering (i have no sympathy for people who shell and kill civilians) and that i hoped they would rebel against Putin.

I don't know what else you expect me to say on an unsubstantiated news story that is talking about a small number of Russian troops (out of 190k soldiers)

BackwardsPrawn · 25/02/2022 08:53

@Keepyourheadscrewedon

I think it evil, if true. I don't think the Russian people are their government - as last nights protests seem to support. People on the streets that I have nothing but admiration for because criticising your government in a safe country like the UK is one thing, but going out and doing so in Russia is a whole different kettle of fish - as my Gran would say. Ditto those guards on Zmiinyi Island, if the recording is true they were incredibly brave and I am in awe of them.

Despite the hardship for the Russian soldiers, many of who are too young to be there, I might also be tempted to hope it is true that they do not have enough food because it might suggest a possible end to the invasion. But life has taught me to be wary when 'the evidence' seems to support what I want to be true - because it is too easy to be comforted by the things you want to be true but ignore the things you do not.

Ukraine faces an enemy far greater (in number) than itself and whilst historic battles have been won like that, it is not always the way it goes.

Like I say, I desperately (and genuinely) hope Ukraine, our government and the governments of the world are up to the job of stopping Putin.

Personally i couldn't care less, the more russian soldiers that starve the better it is for the Ukrainians.
Tigersonvaseline · 25/02/2022 09:08

Unfortunately, and it's so boring to have to plough past the posts that do this; any crack in stability some poster's are just " down with the government", any hook, any excuse.

It's not about Russia or Ukraine it's literally a non stop narrative as to why our government is bad.
The irony is they post in such an aggressive way, they polarise the conversation and you end up with other posters defending Boris as if they were die hard Tories when they aren't. They are merely pragmatic rationale people who don't wear hard left glasses.
Unless it's a reverse psychology tactic by the Tories trying to get people to defend themConfused

SueSaid · 25/02/2022 09:16

'Personally i couldn't care less, the more russian soldiers that starve the better it is for the Ukrainians.'

Jesus.

We can all agree Putin is a crazed dictator who isn't going going stop without saying unpleasant crap like this.

Keepyourheadscrewedon · 25/02/2022 09:20

I don't think it is a reverse by the tory, as it appears to be a non stop erosion. tiger and it is most definitely coordinated as you say.

Labour said today that the far left and far right seem to have joined up in their support of Putin, that was quite a weird concept to be digested. The worst of all worlds finds a common ground. Starmer forced all the MPS to take their names off the later from stop the war as it is so damaging, but they are still are in place as MPs and are supposed to be representing the people of this country. So there are all sorts of colours mixed up and with agendas to derail.
