Couldn’t find a thread, is anyone watching

You’ve clearly never curled. It not only is incredibly strategic and skilled, it’s a lot more physically demanding than it looks. My kids and I have worked up a right sweat when sweeping.

(Definitely more physically demanding/athletic than shooting or archery tbh)

Appalonia · 20/02/2022 03:20

I'm watching, but really don't understand the rules!!

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 20/02/2022 03:21

How is this a sport. No athletic ability needed

The same could be said about shooting!! But I do think there's some athletic ability in it, I'm no expert at all, but sliding on ice that effortlessly takes effort and core strength!

I love curling, spent way too many early mornings watching it this half term! This match feels like they have controlled it from the start. Still feel for the men’s yesterday but just the way it goes and lovely to watch without the constant nerves/fear!

Appalonia · 20/02/2022 03:25

It would be so great if it were a WOMEN'S team that were the only ones to win a gold for Britain!!

Belindabelle · 20/02/2022 03:25

Oh nerves from Vicky. They are playing so well.

I am shattered!

Shut up, Steve!

TanteRose · 20/02/2022 03:32

Brilliant - and glad the Japan team got silver

Appalonia · 20/02/2022 03:33

Aw so lovely seeing the 2 teams hugging each other!

Stopyourhavering64 · 20/02/2022 03:33

Fabulous result!
My parents (RIP) were v keen curlers and won many competitions in the 60's and 70's....they'd have loved watching this

BeaLola · 20/02/2022 03:40

Great 👍

icklekid · 20/02/2022 03:51

🥳🥳🥳

Seeingadistance · 20/02/2022 03:57

The Japanese team are just lovely, aren't they?!

TanteRose · 20/02/2022 04:02

Lovely medal ceremony!

nettie434 · 20/02/2022 04:13

I still don't understand the rules but what an achievement for the women! One of the team members is a nurse who still works part time in the NHS.

The Japanese team were lovely too.

Polyanthus2 · 20/02/2022 04:17

Wow, that's brilliant - at least the BBC won't be able to bleat on about them not having won gold for 98 years like they did with the men - instead of saying well bluddy done men for getting GB's first medal.

Seeingadistance · 20/02/2022 04:21

Was that Steve Cram interviewing them there and saying he wouldn't talk about the match because it wasn't a good match to watch?! Or something along those lines?

It was great to watch!

Shock

Cheeky bugger!

Bellagio40 · 20/02/2022 04:35

Such a brilliant result. I was on the verge of tears by the end

Polyanthus2 · 20/02/2022 06:13

There does seem to be a negative attitude to curling on the BBC - maybe it's too Scottish for them....... only want english rowers etc
