Threads you remember with fondness for being utterly batshit

The one that always gets me is the one where a woman gets angry with some builders and yelled 'Willy Willy Willy' at them
Also didn't see this delight at the time but have since learnt about it was the Sistine screamer- I could die laughing thinking about that one
What are your best threads for comedy value?

OP posts:
PAFMO · 19/02/2022 10:31

It's probably coincidental that a lot of the "hilarious" "classics" involve foreigners doing stupid things.

All a bit Basil Fawlty really.

MisAnn · 19/02/2022 10:39

The poster who fancied one of the workmen in her house who had removable teeth. That thread was hilarious.

VodselForDinner · 19/02/2022 10:41

I always see Angela Hernandez referenced on these threads but have never actually seen the AH thread itself.

Can someone link it if they have it, please?

Hadenoughofthisbullshit · 19/02/2022 10:44

I don’t think the t-rexing in Asda thread is funny at all, probably because I understood the OP perfectly. I’m autistic and t-rex arms are totally normal in the ND community, so what the OP described made total sense to me!

I agree I felt quite sorry for the poor bloke tbh, though I had no idea it was an autistic trait. I just thought imagine going through life with your partner making all sorts of mean little names for the way you stand and the faces you make. Hope he broke up with her and has found someone who doesn’t give a shit how he stands in Asda.

Tigersonvaseline · 19/02/2022 10:46

Fat Ball was beautiful, And I think the Sistine chapel was a zenith moment.
Yoni and all the threads with the name changes ,I still have mine.

I do wonder though why when something is written in an amusing way which then draws amusing replies that cheer us all up...why in god's name do the fun police come along to shout troll.
Can't be real or link and dig up old threads?

Which then pretty much kills the thread?

Is having fun and a laugh part of Mumsnet?
Or do the kill joys rule the roost? Personally I'd very much like to see humourous threads more protected and protected from people with too much time on their hands trying to link threads.

So what if dinasour is ryrhm Man or Sistine is Korean lady?

What bloody badge are you expecting from linking threads on an anonymous forum?
If your enjoying humourous threads then STOP!!!

It makes People not want to post!

Talk about killing the golden goose.

YouMuckyDuck · 19/02/2022 10:47

The supersoaker thread was excellent value for money. The mum just wasn't having it
Lemon drissle cake was so funny too
There was a thread years ago about stupid things you've done and one poster saw someone she fancied in the supermarket but wasn't prepared to see them - or something like that-so she took the only sensible option and pretended to fall asleep on the supermarket floor, right infront of them 😆

BoreOfWhabylon · 19/02/2022 11:01

I think a lot of the made up for classics threads are by the same posters.

Yes, very clever, very funny and complete wind-ups/tall stories. Everyone knew and everyone was fine with it. Now they are called trolls and get deleted. Trolls are a completely different thing imo.

HelloKeith · 19/02/2022 11:07

The neighbour who didn't want the OP to let their dog into their very own garden because the neighbour's child was allergic.

SameToo · 19/02/2022 11:15

Thank you @crabb that explains it.

Tigersonvaseline · 19/02/2022 11:31

Bore I disagree.

I've never had any of the threads I've started which morphed into something amusing go into classics sadly.

But I do know sometimes on the 15 plus years I've been on MN the odd trauma I've written about has turned hilarious and I've let it run.

Because humour....humour folks is the best medicine!!
Laughing... Yes...is good and sometimes a good egg op will let themselves be attacked by the more thick plank poster... to enjoy the humourous delights of the elegant one's.

Because laughter is the best medicine.
I've also written about upsetting situation and deliberately put a funny spin on it because I want to laugh about it.

Again they have not gone too classics but I've been called a troll, made up etc.

Mnhq really need too get a grip on funny thread killers.
It's a support forum supposed to help each other And a good laugh makes us feel better???

Graphista · 19/02/2022 11:54

@GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER was that the "cancel the cheque" one?

I remember that

The comment that had me howling with laughter was something along the lines of ‘12 portions? Who are you, the fucking Borrowers?

Yea the competitive under eating on mn is insane!

Where is classics? What section of boards is it in ?

I agree - humorous and exaggerations are fine not the same as cruel trolls

And a good laugh makes us feel better???

Absolutely

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 19/02/2022 11:57

More recently the owl noises one. Literally crying with laughter

PrawnDrench · 19/02/2022 12:06

@chocolateorangeinhaler

The woman who kept ordering vair expensive Italian glass vases from Italy after brexit then being outraged at the import tax. She got a roasting on here. Then for some inexplicable reason did it again and posted another thread along the same line. She was Sussex out instantly and got another roasting.
The other posts I remember rather vaguely, but perhaps it was the mention of Italian glass vases that made it more memorable.
collieresponder88 · 19/02/2022 12:16

The one where she asked if it was ok to give her toddler a few chips ! Ffs

Iamtired123 · 19/02/2022 12:28

Can someone please link to the snapped and farted thread?! I see it mentioned a lot but I cant find it

Tigersonvaseline · 19/02/2022 12:34

But where has this idea that something funny must be made up?

Sistine chapel was taken down because it was reported??

What planet are people on!

Only a very few times did I see a poster with Starkly obvious ld posting being ripped to shreds and that needs stopping.

But Sistine chapel! Yoni? Alfred's cakes??

Is anything humourous always going to be slapped with troll??

MissAmbrosia · 19/02/2022 12:39

I AM CANADIAN!!! That was mad.

catsareme14 · 19/02/2022 12:50

Please please can someone post a pic of the scary Easter bonnet. I'm on a mobile so can't get profile pics . I NEED to see it !

liveforsummer · 19/02/2022 12:50

The shopping list ones remind me of the weekly menu one where one poster mocked most people's uncultured menu's saying that most people couldn't cook. She ate things like partridge and mandarin duck eggs, made absolutely everything from scratch never a bought sauce and ready meal was a swear word, her teens made home made soups for a snack etc until someone found her list on the former thread that contained microwave rice, individual tiramisu puddings and freezer junk, also a lot of wine which might have explained the delusion 😆

Tigersonvaseline · 19/02/2022 12:53

Easter bonnets was.glorrious.
We need more

MintyFreshBreath · 19/02/2022 12:56

@FloodTheBathroom

Brian from Hull and the yoni massage. I was reading it live and it was hilarious.
‘My yoni says noni’ 😂
DropYourSword · 19/02/2022 12:58

@catsareme14

Please please can someone post a pic of the scary Easter bonnet. I'm on a mobile so can't get profile pics . I NEED to see it !
Someone posted a picture of it in the thread. It's on page 4 of 5

(Or 8 of 10 etc depending on how you've set up your view)

BronwenFrideswide · 19/02/2022 13:05

@musicmadnessnumber57806

The rhythmless man thread

A favourite of mine too, it was properly bonkers.
Joystir59 · 19/02/2022 13:10

My most quoted comment was on a thread about embarrassing things that toddlers say and do. There were three generations of a family eating in a pizzeria. Toddler is struggling to cut his pizza, mum asked if he'd like help, toddler says "yes, this pizza is a cunt to cut mummy!". Stunned silence from grandparents, child's father has slid on the floor in uncontrollable hysterics.

ChameFangeNail · 19/02/2022 13:10

I've been here for over 10 years and the Sistine Chapel thread was hands down the most batshit.

But does anyone also remember the thread about the next door neighbour who hung bin liners on her washing line and got really shitty with the OP when she asked her about it? That was nuts.
