For me: The toddler years. Potty training. The school run and its politics. Ridiculous primary school homework for the parents.

Going further back: boring Sundays with church and bad music. Nothing to do on Sundays because nothing was open. Being bullied at school. Having to ask permission for seemingly absolutely everything.

The past wasn’t all rose tinted.

I agree with surfing! I was cold, it was hard and being dunked under the water 10000 times got tedious.

Negotiate those parents on the school run. I met some of my best friends doing this bu grim having to stand and chat with the others, who you'd rather poke in the eye, for years.

Attend weddings regularly. generally, boring social set pieces with no choice who you sit with. I always feel trapped into conversing with the event's Uncle Colm.

Go to Fuerteventura, Dubai, Las Vegas, or Meribel - all horrible for different reasons.

Sleep anywhere above 2200m without proper acclimatisation, altitude sickness, yuck.

(I hope) never to do an exam or interview that anything rides on, ever again. I'm a good crammer and performer under pressure but it makes me miserable and stressed whilst doing it, and whilst waiting for the result.
