So we've got Dudley today and tomorrow and Eunice on Friday so thought I'd start a thread. Dudley has barely hit here in Edinburgh and already there's a flight from LHR struggling to land.

liveforsummer · 18/02/2022 10:17

Wind has definitely picked up at Heathrow, that's been 5 go arounds in the last few minutes! Last flight from Manchester aborted about 20ft above the ground Shock

Yes!!!!
FurryGrowler · 18/02/2022 10:21

@Maerchentante

So, so glad I don't have to be on a plane today. I really hope that the airlines double up on airsickness bags today.

Me too 🤢

liveforsummer · 18/02/2022 10:21

Istanbul thought better of it a long way out too. Chicago lined up for another go

OP posts:
ErrolTheDragon · 18/02/2022 10:22

Munich didnt go for it

Maerchentante · 18/02/2022 10:22

Lufthansa Munich flight just abandoned early, Chicago flight coming in for the second time next.

LittleSnakes · 18/02/2022 10:23

Easy jet landing in Bristol in a few mins! Really??

liveforsummer · 18/02/2022 10:23

Munich didn't even have the line go yellow which I think it does below about 2500 ft, next shot for Chicago

OP posts:
CaveMum · 18/02/2022 10:24

BA from Chicago looks to be the next one to have a second try with Vienna in behind.

LittleSnakes · 18/02/2022 10:24

Oh maybe not. Seems to be going somewhere else now

notimagain · 18/02/2022 10:25

@BabbleBee

Sorry if I appeared spikey with that comment but there’s no way an external observer can tell if a warning had been triggered on the Flight Deck. (And if by chance such info has come from a source listening to ATC comms the sharing of such info is actually illegal in the UK)..

As a bit of overview there can be a whole host of reasons for go-arounds, especially today, wind gusting outside limits (that can be detected from the wind readout on the flight deck, becoming miss aligned with the runway centre line due a gust, speed being outside tolerance, crew observing wind shear effects without a warning being triggered…the list is almost endless and can include a bit of the pilots really didn’t like what they were seeing.

ErrolTheDragon · 18/02/2022 10:25

Chicago climbing away

Maerchentante · 18/02/2022 10:26

And Chicago abandoned, too

Ocsetldil · 18/02/2022 10:27

The Chicago to LHR plane has just aborted its landing.

FishFingerseveryday · 18/02/2022 10:27
