So we've got Dudley today and tomorrow and Eunice on Friday so thought I'd start a thread. Dudley has barely hit here in Edinburgh and already there's a flight from LHR struggling to land.

It landed at a Polish airport, near the Ukraine boarder. Handy.

mowly77 · 17/02/2022 01:29

I lost it at 2,900 ft between Zolynia and Lancut.

ErrolTheDragon · 17/02/2022 01:30

The doughnut plane is still going round.

Plane from East Mids approaching Edinburgh now.

oakleaffy · 17/02/2022 01:32

Madeira Funchal /Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the ''Trickiest'' , most dangerous Airports to land at, due to the wind~shear from the Sea, and the rocky hills surrounding the runway.
Granted, not in UK, but supposedly Pilots have to take extra training to land there.
{Frequent destination for Family member}.
If very windy, they land at another island, and wait it out.

@ErrolTheDragon

I just found Lublin to Dublin. Best flight name ever?Grin
Lublin...That name sounds familiar... Poland? Concentration camp? Might be wrong.
ErrolTheDragon · 17/02/2022 01:36

Theres another military-style plane over Ukraine now. Not sure which country, but looks like it took off from Switzerland. Its the number 2 most watched at the moment!

The only unmarked one I could see thereabouts was a little executive jet which started in Milan and just landed in Kiev.

AnyName1 · 17/02/2022 02:00

I'm in NW Ireland and I'd like that creepy circling plane to go away now thanks!

Mollcat · 17/02/2022 02:27

There is another USAF aircraft about to cross Scotland. Just to the SE of the creepy circling one. Same type as before - transport plane.

HappyAsASandboy · 17/02/2022 04:39

There's a lot of USAF transport planes coming and going, seemingly to Eastern Europe.

RCH193 is on its way back to USA from Poland
RCH434 crossing the Atlantic towards Spain
RCH451 heading towards Ukraine over Poland
RCH455 heading our way currently over Canada
RCH456 ditto
RCH492 heading up towards UK from somewhere via Spain
RCH457 over Germany heading towards Ukraine

There's other RCH activity too, though don't look to be Europe related.

Does anyone know what other labels the US/US airforces use? RCH just happened to be the label of one that was spotted tonight and I searched for others.

HappyAsASandboy · 17/02/2022 04:42

RCH451 looks like it's turning around over Poland and heading back west?

timetochangeusername · 17/02/2022 06:06

Ooh just woke up glad others saw where the military plane went!

How do you see how many are watching ?

timetochangeusername · 17/02/2022 06:09

There's a Ukrainian airforce plane just taken off heading west. What's that about then?

FleeceNavidadFromTheSheep · 17/02/2022 06:39

Morning!

The Ukrainian is the 2nd most watched!

I was wondering this
timetochangeusername · 17/02/2022 06:46

Thanks @FleeceNavidadFromTheSheep

Could this get any more addictive !!

Sunnycats · 17/02/2022 06:54

Hi everyone
My parents are due to land around 630am tomorrow (Fri) morning from Toronto, am worried about them being diverted on landing what with the high winds! Will their plane still depart Toronto? I havent seen them on over 2 years so really worrying something goes wrong!

timetochangeusername · 17/02/2022 07:33

@Sunnycats it's looking like it really picks up from 9 peaking at lunchtime so you might find it's ok.

No 1 watched currently is a US reconnaissance aircraft heading north towards Ukraine.

And now I must do something else !!

liveforsummer · 17/02/2022 07:34

I fell asleep too so glad for the updates of where the USAF plane landed. It did look to be heading in the direction of Ukrainian last thing I saw but I did suspect it would be somewhere near the border rather than actually going in to their air space.

The plane will almost certainly depart unless they have their own weather event. If it's bad where you are it may land elsewhere but hopefully with the timings that won't be the case

Morning..just catching up..

The one doing holds in a fixed position off Ireland last night - could well have been a tanker…

FleeceNavidadFromTheSheep · 17/02/2022 08:03

Just downloaded the app. The most watched list is addictive, but I did enjoy spotting that poor Southampton flight last night. Pre fluke as it's one of my local airports.

Landing where exactly?

If it’s Heathrow then TBF I think I have to point out the relatively recently issued airport forecast for tomorrow AM from 0300 onwards is very entertaining… Very very very strong crosswinds building up throughout the morning..Gatwick will be similar, possibly slightly worse because of it’s elevation.

It was a US Navy P8 Poseidon

notimagain · 17/02/2022 08:26

Thanks…that answers that question.
