I'm going out with a really rich man and he wants me to take out a loan to lend him money

Well, not really, but that's what happened to the women in Tinder Swindler on Netflix.

If only they'd posted their dilemma on here.

How long would you have to be going out with someone before you lent him money?

Thank you @BoredZelda!

BoredZelda · 11/02/2022 00:36

Most of mumsnet is not naive twenty year olds desperate for love

The average age of a romance scam victim is 47.

Ribenery · 11/02/2022 06:30

@Fluffycloudland77 it's astonishing isn't it. I find the friendships afterwards just bizarre. This guy still drinks in the local pub 200m away from where she lives despite everyone knowing the story. No one calls him out and in fact people will still talk about what a great guy he is!

@Zilla1

I understand that the reason the email and online scams like the Nigerian Prince/Section 419 scams have obvious spelling mistakes and errors written in the text is to select-out critical readers who might otherwise take time person to person later without any financial gain. The vulnerable who are susceptible don't notice what seems obvious to others.
Interesting!!!!

Reading this has actually made me quite keen to meet one of theses scammers abs scam them backGrin
And enjoy the private jets stuff etc while it lasts…. I am middle aged, getting divorced, relatively well off snd mortgage free… where do I find a Scammer to scan? If I do it well could even get my own Netflix series in a few years.

Do you know what it worse, the OP has asked for advice, which to me says she already knows its wrong.

It saddens me, because there is NO SUPPORT for victims of financial abuse, and I should know.

I plead with anyone, if it doesn't feel right, IT ISNT.

If your partner of 15 years needs £100 thats another thing, if a Partner of 6 months needs £000's..... simples - tell them to do one.

They aren't in it for you, they are in it for what they can get from you.

Women should not fall for the plight of emotional debt.... 'oh, but he loves me...'

Men are the same, need to be savvy. It takes a moment to give it away, but years to put it right, and lets face it, if you've been scammed at aged 47+ you add 6 years.... do you want to be that age and saddled with debt... NO

Rant over - I'm sorry

Plumface · 11/02/2022 09:26

She's talking about a telly programme.

TatianaBis · 11/02/2022 09:28

It’s a joke innit:

feelingdownandoutagain · 11/02/2022 09:28

@Plumface

She's talking about a telly programme.
then my apologies, I misinterpreted it.
MrsSkylerWhite · 11/02/2022 09:29
