Is just a bog standard mum living in an bog standard house, working in a bog standard job with no cleaner or nanny, who drinks a wee bit too much wine at the weekend and eats to much chocolate, who lets their kids watch tv so i can get peace and wouldn't LTB for Leaving the toilet seat up or leaving dirty washing on the floor.

I feel like i don't fit in even in real life i dont know people like the ones on mumsnet. This is in no way a criticism, i love the support on the site.

Nah there loads of us

Spongebobsmartypants · 06/02/2022 15:49

Thank goodness for that.

No, Mumsnet is full (imo) of posters who just trot out 'learned' replies but in real life, their relationships are probably nothing like they portray because they'd never take the advice they dish out to others.

I agree @DiddyHeck if everyone was to leave their partners Based on mumsnet rules, no one would be in a relationship.

Me. Normal house. Kids that argue 24/7
Lazy teen. Often have a take away or nuggets and chips for an easy life.
My kids also are allowed chocolate cake biscuits. Probably daily if I was honest.
I eat far to much junk. Example I had an easter egg for breakfast.

I don't have a cleaner. Nor a nanny. I also wouldn't want them either.

I drive around in a 15 year old car. Which I don't feel the need to update until it dies.

Weve not had a holiday in 7 years

But we're happy.

I also adore my in-laws

Jellykat · 06/02/2022 16:02

I'm with you Spongebob bog standard everything here, haven't had a holiday for over 8 years, 2 sons by 2 different dads and i AM the cleaner .. years of experience and definitely not a lesser human being though! Grin

Dont forget... no one posts about the mundane. Just the extremes.

Cherryblossoms85 · 06/02/2022 16:09

Yeah. I can never be arsed changing the sheets and we all end up leaving wet towels on the floor and the kids can be little shits sometimes, my DH can be a dick in a non LTB way , I'm sure I can too, and I don't really feel any great need for others to validate my judgement on the situation Grin

Piggyk2 · 06/02/2022 16:10

Don't believe everything you read OP... (not on MN) I think some things surely cannot be true.

The my boyfriend hasn't brushed his teeth for 2 weeks threads really get me Blush

Spongebobsmartypants · 06/02/2022 16:42

So glad to finally feel part of the mumsnet gang. I too eat chocolate for breakfast, have chicken nuggets a lot and drive an old car that i love and my kids are at times almost feral.

I really needed this today, thanks @Spongebobsmartypants and everyone else!

Goldandguns · 06/02/2022 17:04

I've found my people :) I personally don't know anyone that has a cleaner or a nanny, I'm not sure if I'd want one even if I could afford it? (that's a lie, I'd love one just for the kitchen for the deep clean).
I have my license but don't own a car, kids don't go to every club available and for breakfast I had parathas with leftover curry 🤤 DH is a dickhead, as am I and neither of us have LTB Grin
Also I'm extremely jealous of those of you that have Easter eggs for breakfast, I'm taking this as my sign to stock up on creme eggs.

KurtWilde · 06/02/2022 17:10

I'm just a regular mum who lets her kids watch telly when they like without a time limit, they had gadgets from being toddlers (tablet, Xbox etc) - communal ones not one each! No time limits. Phones are allowed in bedrooms. Sleepovers happen most weekends. They eat rubbish sometimes, and chocolate, and we gets mcds sometimes too.

Never had a cleaner or a nanny. I do have a slightly unusual job (I'm a writer) and I homeschool as standard, but we live in a crappy rented town house in a crappy area of Yorkshire. I have 3 dogs and sometimes they bark!! Sometimes my kids are noisy in the garden too. And I've never even tried Prosecco.

girafferafferaffe · 06/02/2022 17:17

Here! Normal person. Normal house. Quite messy. Haven't got much money. No family help with childcare. Don't spend too much time on my appearance. Let dd watch tv and tablet. She's allowed sweets and chocolate. I also eat too much (am pregnant) so don't fit in with teeny tiny 'couldn't possibly eat an entire can of soup' mnetters.

I don't drink though. Soz!

Spongebobsmartypants · 06/02/2022 17:18

My kids play on the trampoline at 8.30 on a sunday morning, just so i can lie in bed a bit longer. My neighbours dont complainas there kids are out there too.

You can't have spent much time on here if you thought you were the only one 🤔

I too would like the 'Easter egg for breakfast' normalised. Grin

I work but don't have a career and earn monthly what I expect the average Mumsnetter spends on a pair of Hush hareems.
3 bed house. Bedroom 3 which houses my ds is the size of a postage stamp and I suspect the average Mumsnetter has a larger dressing room than his sorry abode.
I've never set foot in a Waitrose.
DC aren't involved in many after school activities and are on their phones pretty much all of the time.
As long as dc have something to eat before school I don't care too much if it's covered in chocolate or full of sugar.
For breakfast I had a banana followed by a packet of salt and vinegar crisps.

Spongebobsmartypants · 06/02/2022 17:28

@LoseLooseLucy i spend way to much time on here, instead of doing all the other things i should be doing.

Ha, same here (and I'm also the same as you in your OP 😄)

mowly77 · 06/02/2022 17:31

Bog standard end of terrace; can't afford back extension with bi-fold doors & a kitchen island; clothes are mainly hand-me-downs, or from charity shops, not Boden. 3.5 year old is put in front of TV every day at 4 when she's not at nursery as I can't take it anymore. The devil of as much fruit as she likes and chocolate, crisps, cakes, ice-cream, you name it, all lurk within these walls & oh man do I wish I had had an Easter egg for breakfast.

Oh and I can't be arsed to cook anymore. Used to love cooking but it loses its lustre when you have to do it every. single. fucking. day. for someone who probably won't even eat it. I like spicy food. So bring on the fishfingers & oven chips. & maybe I'll have a nice takeaway later. I drink too much gin sometimes often. I believe our numbers are legion.

lemongrasstea · 06/02/2022 17:33

I'm Spartacus too! Can never get my head around 'should I sack the nanny for xyz), completely different world and I don't envy them it either
