Silkie Grin DH always insists on sharing a meal with me so he does not pay for two This is exactly what my DH always tries to do. I order additional starters to make up for it.

I hope you find a good solution for your DS.
I have downloaded a list with links tof all about 500 regulated 'Berufe' (non-universitiy), and filtered everything out DS cannot do. He will have to take a look at the rest.

Champagneforeveryone · 20/03/2022 08:27

I was going to purchase a new laundry basket. Normally I would buy a cheap one and replace it a couple years later, however my new mission is to buy things to last (incidentally, a strangely fascinating past time)

Research on laundry baskets shows that there are far more options than I had ever realised, and I have had to abandon my plans until after I've had a nap. Then I shall gird my loins and try again Wink

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 20/03/2022 08:46

Champagne My DGM had a proper willow-woven laundry basket, it was beautiful. I make do with two IKEA toy-containers - blue for 40° and red for 60°.

I have a slightly scratchy throat and a mild headache. I will take an inoffical test and if that is positive I'll throw a tantrum because I have managed to book a haircut for next Friday and then go for an official PCR on Monday.

Silkierabbit · 20/03/2022 08:55

Do you get hayfever Prok. I get that sort of thing with hayfever around now so hopefully not covid. Well mine is normally scratchy throat and cough but think you get a headache.

I have mostly given up on buying to last with 2 kids and 3 small animals especially rabbit who tries to eat everything. I also get annoyed when I have bought to last and it goes wrong.

Hopefully going to Bempton Cliffs to try and see puffins / walk along coast today, around a 3.5 hour drive each way but my last day before chemo.

Silkierabbit · 20/03/2022 08:57

DH normally puts bins out very last minute on the day after the binmen are due to arrive. Now he's agreed to day out he has suddenly decided he needs to do bins a whole 24 hours early. Confused

Silkierabbit · 20/03/2022 08:58

Actually worked it out its as I have 8am chemo at hospital and 30 mins drive away plus have to get ready first. But most unusual for him to be organised. I'm still in shock at him being able to hear.

Nydj · 20/03/2022 09:48

Happy puffin watching day, Silkies. I have to clean some windows today - the nice weather has highlighted the dirt on them especially after the sand in the air from a few days ago.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 20/03/2022 10:45

Nydj Happy cleaning and happy puffin day Silkie
(no idea as yet was that is apart from visible Smile) oh a Papageientaucher.) They are lovely! DD bought a small painiting of one from a lady at the zoo.

MissConductUS · 20/03/2022 16:48

Happy Equinox! We've rounded the corner into spring. Grin

Prok, the sore throat and low fever are classic allergy symptoms. You'll feel much better if you take some cetirizine or whatever is available over the counter for you.

DS is about halfway to uni by now. We sent him off with the homemaker cookies, a huge sandwich from the deli, and some extra cash. DH even checked the tyre pressures on his car.

We had a nice dinner out last night with my MIL. She loves getting together with DS. We had fried calamari, clam chowder and lobster rolls, so it was quite a treat.

SevenSistersStar · 20/03/2022 18:54

Hope you had a good day with the puffins @Silkierabbit.

It's a happy thought about the equinox. We are entering my favourite time of the year.

Had family round today. There were five children under 8 in the house. It was loud!

Silkierabbit · 20/03/2022 21:12

Hope you have beautiful windows now Nydj

Prok Yes love puffins they are cute.

Hope your DS got back Ok MissC

Hope you are recovered now from many small people Seven they are fun but exhausting.

We went to Bempton Cliffs today, could not see any puffins, lots of other birds and a lovely walk with DH along the cliffs.

Miss I'll ask about hayfever meds, but I think it is more likely that I have caught my work mate's common cold or even covid as my DH and DD are now positive.

We hade a lovely sunny day here. DD and I repotted her ivy plant, helped by my second best cookie knife.
And (whispers) DS is revising math, he is working at getting is speed up.

MissConductUS · 20/03/2022 23:23

Lovely pictures, Silkie.

DS made it back to uni without incident. We had our usual Sunday night Zoom call and heard all about DD's trip with her crew team to South Carolina. She had a good time but was a bit worn out knackered from the trip back. They went by bus and it is about 16 hours each way.

I hope you feel better soon Prok. Fever isn't typical in a cold.

OP posts:
MissConductUS · 20/03/2022 23:37

Sorry Prok, your second symptom was a mild headache, not a fever. It could easily be a cold but no harm done trying the allergy meds.

Good luck for today silkie thinking of you Brew Stunning photos from yesterday, what a beautiful location.

Good luck with the test prok fingers crossed for something non-Covid!

I had 4 under 6 when mine were small seven there were days once they’d gone to bed that I thought that if I had to hear another sound my ears would fall off! Hope you had fun though, it’s even better when you can hand some of them back!

DoctorTwo · 21/03/2022 09:05

I am on day 5 of the worst cold I've had in years. The amount and colour of the mucus coming out of my nose is astonishing. I never knew I could produce so much. On top of this I have a stomach ache.

Good luck today Silkie, your photos of the cliffs are lovely.

Reading your stories really lifts my spirits, even the bad news as I can see the positivity you all portray. Thank you all for posting.

Spudlet · 21/03/2022 10:47

Morning all. It’s very sunny here, and I already have two loads of washing drying in the sunshine. Feeling smug.

Thinking of you today silkie - good luck!

MissConductUS · 21/03/2022 13:26

Silkie I hope your infusion went okay.

Sorry you're feeling poorly DoctorTwo. Your upset stomach is because a considerable amount of that mucus is being swallowed and it's not something your stomach can easily deal with.

Helena, four under six sounds like a nightmare of nappies and tantrums. After our first I wanted a second. After the second I decided that enough was enough. I think DH would have stopped at one. But I think I had mine later than yours.

The house felt a bit empty this morning since DS has gone back to uni. Sad

Thanks for the good wishes. Am back now, feeling very sleepy as they gave me piriton as well as anti-sickness, chemo (pax). DH came in with me though was given a £60 parking fine with no discount though he has managed to avoid parking charges up to now but not great going forward as I have a really heavy box to carry and you can't get close. Though will buy lighter things which will help with weight. I need to take ice for my hands and feet to try and stop peripheral neuropathy and also tried on my head though doubt that will work and took ice lollies to help with the sore mouth.

DD started moaning at me this morning for being up early - had to be for chemo but she said she had to stay home for day. She has a mock and suspect I am a useful excuse though only 2 left now so could be worse. DH took me OK though was making stupid jokes about how bad I will look without hair, its not untrue but could do without his jokes Hmm. 1 down, 11 to go.

ShoesOnFirstThenCar · 21/03/2022 16:46

Glad the first one is done and dusted for you silkie , when DMIL went through chemo she used to buy sucky sweets (as she called them), boiled sweets to help with the dry mouth. We also have cold pouches for headaches which live in the fridge. Maybe something similar could help with the head? Is there much gap between sessions for you?

Inspired by your talk of cleaning windows nydj I cleaned our front door yesterday which had become a nice shade of orangey grey. This morning it was back, pesky sand storm came in overnight methinks. DH is also annoyed cos he washed both cars yesterday and this morning, they’re all dusty again.
DD has barely slept this weekend so packed her off to school and went back to bed. She has an overnight in the respite place tonight so I can catch up more I hope.

LoveFall · 21/03/2022 17:45

Your first is done Silkie! I hope you are feeling OK. Now you will know what to expect and start getting to know the nurses and other staff. It is always easier when things are familiar I find.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 21/03/2022 18:20

I went to Woolworth (or Wulle Grin) and bought 2 pyjama bottoms for DS and a tea pot for DD - my life is full of adventure and excitement.

Wulle is still as weird a shop as it was in my youth, but they no longer sell this orange coloured lemonade my mother never let me have.

Champagneforeveryone · 21/03/2022 18:48

Flowers silkie, hope you aren't feeling too bad.

In a strange dinner table conversation it transpires that, should the need arise, I would be the first of my family to be eaten. There's more meat on me than DS (sadly true) and I'm not likely to be as tough and sinewy as DH.

I'm unsure how to feel about this TBH, though I can't fault their reasoning Grin

HelenaJustina · 21/03/2022 18:51

Miss it was mostly frenetic and fun, love and laughter. I was young but as the oldest of nine, not naive about what I was letting myself in for! A very small part of me misses swinging a small one up onto my hip, someone pulling themselves up on my leg and breastfeeding, I miss that too.

Am sitting on my first interview panel tomorrow, it’s for someone to work under me and I’m pleased I’ve been included but am a bit nervous what do I wear?!

IWanderedLonely · 21/03/2022 19:16

Well done Silkie, glad the 1st one went OK (apart from the parking fine Shock)
My dull news for the day is that I had to walk to the bank after work with my granddaughter to pay my wages (cheque) into the bank. It was only 6 days late this month.
