@MissSmiley

This week on Monday I: Gave up nicotine Took off my HRT patch Got divorced!
Wow! Good luck with your new life.
VioletOcean · 03/02/2022 17:54

I just gave up caring if a person at work doesn’t like me.
I am so bloody tired I can’t be bothered with the depressing wow is me stories of staff and their kid.
I don’t care is your unvaccinated for your own non medical reasons but I do bloody care about the amount of time you get off whilst I’m in work doing your job and my own as well as agency staff who are utterly crap

Enzbear · 03/02/2022 17:58

Working full time.
Worrying about the future, especially financially.

unname · 03/02/2022 18:02

Have not succeeded but my new goal is to stop being shocked and annoyed when people act like people.

TheApexOfMyLife · 03/02/2022 18:08

The right man doesn’t exist….

Blue4YOU · 03/02/2022 18:11

Facebook (giving it up helps stop me ranting)
I never gave a shit what people think of me but now I’m a lot more vocal in challenging people who think they can walk all over me
Stopped ruminating on what might happen (Trigger warning!) in my ongoing attempts to get justice from a sexual assault by a doctor but pursuing every possible route. Wish I could give up nightmares and hypervigilance!
I actually started ironing!
Stopped a twenty three year “friendship” with a certifiable covert narcissist.

DaisyChains3 · 03/02/2022 18:20

Ditched wired bras. The absolute relief! I’ve been finding them intolerably uncomfortable for years now. Bought some soft bralette type things which are remarkably supportive and comfortable much to my amazement.

Reassessing friendships and realising some people I am in touch with are a dead loss.

I really like this one!
BeyondMyWits · 03/02/2022 18:23

Giving a fuck in both senses of the word.

foxgoosefinch · 03/02/2022 18:26

I’ve not ironed anything since at least 2006. Nothing has happened…

whydiditalkaboutbruno · 03/02/2022 18:27

IRONING

Most items do not need ironing

Wineloffa · 03/02/2022 18:28

Ironing
Being so overly invested in my job
Social media
Reading / watching the news

TeeBee · 03/02/2022 18:36

Being married
Living with men (apart from my sons)
Socialising with people I don't really really want to spend time with
Ironing
Giving a flying fuck about what people think (except my immediate family)

TeeBee · 03/02/2022 18:43

Sending Christmas cards

Ilikecheeseontoast · 03/02/2022 18:50

Watching the news
Facebook/Instagram/twitter
Dieting
Trying to be ‘fashionable’ clothes wise -just buy and wear what I like now

…can you tell I’m approaching 40?!

MissSmiley · 03/02/2022 18:57

@grapewine thank you, planning to go back to the HRT after my surgery, so that one was a bit of a cheat 🙈

QuattroFormaggi · 03/02/2022 18:58

At 40 I stopped giving a shit.
At 50 I finally stopped giving a shit about not giving a shit Grin

Have only ironed my own stuff (linen blouses/trousers) for ten years. ExDH and DSs quite capable of doing their own too.

Stopped being the organiser for my social group. Now we never meet up because no one else can be bothered. And I don't miss them and I've made new friends.

Wear what I want, when I want and no shits given about fashion, arse size or whether my shoes look frumpy. ExDH would roll his eyes at me and look permanently disappointed by my outfits. My new friends actually compliment me on my style!

Still Smile

MrsSiba · 03/02/2022 19:02

Cut back on FB. I still use it to find out about some local events but I don't have to read what school friends I haven't spoken to or seen in 25 years are doing to celebrate their birthday.

SockFluffInTheBath · 03/02/2022 19:43

Facebook
Ironing everything
Giving a fuck what people think
Alcohol
Anyone not entirely genuine

MarmiteyCrumpets · 03/02/2022 19:57

Wearing a bra

Wearing uncomfortable clothes generally. I often wear men's tops now because they're more comfortable (and they have proper pockets!)

"Being nice" to patronizing knobs

Thank you menopause for relieving me of any fucks to give.

Cherrybomb197 · 03/02/2022 20:02

Buying Christmas presents for anyone (except close family)

Working late at work for no pay: you need me to work late? Then pay me to work later.

Putting in effort with anyone who’s not putting in effort with me

TopTabby · 03/02/2022 20:11

Doing over & above my contracted hours or tasks at work.
Ironing for the whole family, just do my own now.
Pretending to be interested in extended family members when I don't particularly care what they do really.
Cut down massively on drinking but stopped obsessing over my extra few pounds.

thecatsthecats · 03/02/2022 20:19

Cooking a lot.

Slow cooker for six portions on Monday, freeze some, have others out on other nights. Anti-pasti nibbles and toast other nights. Bloody love bruschetta, and very healthy mix of salad, meat, cheese and some bread.

Now cooking is a rare treat when I feel like it. I'm simultaneously eating better and putting less effort in. It's great.

DukeofEarlGrey · 03/02/2022 20:23

God, so much - I consider myself a bit of a pro at this:

Gave up stressful high-powered job for much calmer, nicer one - return on energy beggars belief.
WFH so no more commuting
Gave up any 'frienemies' years ago.
Ditto all social media.
Currently happily single, so gave up all of ex-DPs nonsense that his new partner can now 'enjoy'.
Only do full cleaning about once a month - basic wiping etc. in the meantime. Almost no ironing.
Gave up wearing heels long ago.
Never attend things I don't want to anymore.

Sometimes I wonder what I DO give any fucks about anymore, but then I remember that it's my interesting work, lovely friends, reading, walking in nature and running. Happy days.
