Seeing toxic 'friends'
Ironing
Sending Christmas cards
Watching the news

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 03/02/2022 15:48

New job
Got rid of toxic friend*
Accepting that I am never going to be a size 12 again
Stopped all my volunteering. I did 3 voluntary roles to support my DC’s interests, each for 4-8 year, and fit some time all three at once. It was exhausting.

*actually she got rid of me, but it was such a relief, even though it did take me 18 months to realise

Drinking wine in the evenings. I can't sleep if I do this, so only do it VERY rarely for big social events that merit a sleepless night.

Noshowlomo · 03/02/2022 15:51

Drinking. Done dry jan and I’ve slept better, my anxiety has pretty much gone and I’ve lost weight.

Coming off fb. Been 2 months and it’s been great.

grapewine · 03/02/2022 15:51

I have never had less fucks to give
Deleting Facebook

Decluttered everything. Clothes and 'stuff'.

grapewine · 03/02/2022 15:52

So I guess that means I stopped wasting space on stuff

MintJulia · 03/02/2022 15:52

Deciding to stay single.

Much easier all round. No lies, no surprises.

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 03/02/2022 15:52

Peeling potatoes before mashing

Washing hair every day

Ironing anything

CailleachGranda · 03/02/2022 15:53

Ironing

And giving a shit what anyone thinks

EarringsandLipstick · 03/02/2022 15:55

Wearing high heels in work (as much)

I loved my heels, pre-Covid. It was part of my work armour! Post pandemic I'm working a blended arrangement, partly from home, partly on site. The way I'm working has changed, and heels both slow me down, practically, but also feel 'rigid' somehow.

I still like to dress up but am embracing a style that accommodates stylish runners, brogues.

I will still wear heels but they'll be less formal.

It genuinely has transformed my approach to work!!

VanLife · 03/02/2022 15:55

UrbanMage · 03/02/2022 15:56

Ironing, no point. My kid looks like she’s run through a hedge no matter how crease free her clothes start out. She crumples everything, so now I just don’t bother.

Dressing how other people think I should dress. I still look smart for work and I wear clothes that fit me, but they are now more my own style , for instance, my hair is currently a faded pink and quite short, when I used to grow my hair to look thinner and more fem. But I always hated it as it gets in my way. My make up is bold. I wear DMs/ converse all the time…

Fontella · 03/02/2022 15:56

I've given up on men.

After 9 years single I did have a little dalliance which lasted a couple of years, but it just reinforced to me why I'm happier single.

I used to dream of meeting 'the right man' but now I couldn't give a shit. I'm totally happy and content and just love the feeling of being 'free'.

Wiseupkid · 03/02/2022 15:58

Cutting out alcohol - really look fresh and feel great, not hard to do but made a difference

PopcornPeacock · 03/02/2022 16:00

What all the pp's said!........ oh and wearing a bra - only on outings now.....the freedom is heaven!

Woofwoofbarkbark · 03/02/2022 16:02

I stopped smoking! I actually, finally did it. 4 months strong!

VanLife · 03/02/2022 16:02

To stop worrying about everything so much ..

What will be, will be.

MonicaGellerBing · 03/02/2022 16:03

Trying to make decent friends, sick of backstabbing liars

SoItWas · 03/02/2022 16:04

Mothering a grown ass man child.

PostThenGhost · 03/02/2022 16:05

Drinking.

19 months alcohol free.
Life changing.

Hoolihan · 03/02/2022 16:06

@EffortsToBuild

Giving a fuck what the knob who is driving behind me thinks. My attitude now is 'either overtake or piss off'.
Oh this is such a good one and something I need to learn! I am pretty confident/no nonsense in general but driving gives me anxiety! I always worry I'm getting in the way.
SoItWas · 03/02/2022 16:10

I've also stopped shaving my legs in winter/autumn, wearing a bra, wearing make-up, plucking my eyebrows (except the stragglers in the middle), painting my nails, and dying my hair. All those things seemed soo important to me back in the day, now I don't give a rats ass. And I don't think anyone has even really noticed other than me (I wish I'd stopped caring years ago).

Hoolihan · 03/02/2022 16:10

Going to events/occasions I'm not bothered about to keep other people happy. Have got so much more time now.

Facebook.

Going to the supermarket.

Commuting.

Making every meal from scratch.

TheRealShedSadie · 03/02/2022 16:10

Cooking every day, nope
Being the one ‘stepping up’ when others sit on their hands
Giving to massive charities, I now give to small, local and grassroots instead
