I suspect that the posters not needing to call a taxi or ring for a takeaway live in towns and cities
We still have a landline, but rarely use the landline phone. It is a useful back up. Not all of our nearest takeaways can be ordered online. We don’t get Uber round here, and sometimes the mobile signal isn’t great.
We have a satellite dish for our Freesat, and still watch terrestrial TV (as well as Netflix, Prime and catch up services).
We have books, CDs and DVDs, and still use USB drives as back up. I have read that you should back up your data in three different places, so we use a USB or portable hard drive as one of the options.
Re Facebook. I think it is being used in a different way these days. More and more small companies have a Facebook page rather than their own website because it is free and can be updated more easily. Even the council and other large organisations use Facebook to update about bin collections and other useful information.
I use a few Facebook groups, especially the local ones for recommendations for services etc. People post about road closures and other useful community information. It is a great resource for recycling, and I would like to think that due to people being able to offer “free to a good home” stuff that they might have taken to landfill has cut down the amount of stuff that people take to the tip.
Being able to buy tickets directly from a venue for gigs and big events has disappeared, and we all end up paying a premium to Ticketmaster or other agencies which makes tickets even more expensive. When booking hotel accommodation I always end up with Booking.com/Trivago etc to get the wher, availability and how much, then google the hotel and contact them directly.
