I never use my grill - other than for storage of cake tins etc.
We use the oven for cooking stuff.
It’s an integrated type oven with grill in the top

What do you cook in yours? I’m totally lost 🤣🤣

Mines a small top oven/grill and gets used on Xmas day to cook Yorkshire puddings. That is it.

nocoolnamesleft · 26/01/2022 21:04

Bacon. Cheese on toast.

jimmyreckon · 26/01/2022 21:05

Ours is gas so gas toast - much better than a toaster

Grill the top of omelettes. Very rarely. I. Don't think ours has been used for about a year.

JustWonderingIfYou · 26/01/2022 21:08

Pork chops and other meat

Icantremembermyusername · 26/01/2022 21:09

Mine stores baking trays!

Farcry66 · 26/01/2022 21:11

I grill steak. I find it gives a much more even cooking than frying and really holds on to seasoning.

tintodeverano2 · 26/01/2022 21:12

Cheese on toast.

MaizeAmaze · 26/01/2022 21:15

Bacon, sausages, cheese on toast.
Crumpets or bagels if we are all eating them.
Hot cross buns.

853ax · 26/01/2022 21:20

Sausages, bacon, waffles, burgers
Cheese melts, finishing off omelets
Sometimes chicken if want for lunch cut into small pieces

irregularegular · 26/01/2022 21:22

Mainly bacon. Burger buns, crostini etc that are either too big or too numerous for toaster. Cheese on toast (not had that for ages!). I grill tomatoes to make a tomato sauce. Finishing off the top of eg fish pie or shepherds pie. Fish fingers occasionally.

When the aga is on in the winter I use it slightly less and use oven more. But when the aga is off it is a quick way to finish things off without turning the oven on.

I mainly make toasties in mine. Also Bacon, sausages erm...that's it really!

Jumbojem · 26/01/2022 21:28

The element has gone in ours. Miss cheese on toast. Also crisping off cheese on top of pasta and sauce, fish fingers, veg burgers, melting cheese on top of enchiladas. The oven is ancient and it's the second time the element has gone so I'm loathe to pay out again to replace it.

  • toasting large breads/hot cross buns or thick bagels that don't fit inside the toaster
  • cheese on toast or melting things that just need the topping melting and browning slightly
  • Pork and lamb chops and steak
  • scorching the top of creme brulee (I don't have a blow torch)
  • tomatoes and bacon
  • hash browns
WeAllHaveWings · 26/01/2022 21:29

I rarely use mine, but did use tonight for children kebabs.

The only other thing is occasionally cheese on toast.

WeAllHaveWings · 26/01/2022 21:30

*chicken kebabs - I do not grill children on skewers!!!!!

HelloDaisy · 26/01/2022 21:30

Cheese on toast and toasting pannetonne, that’s it!

HelloDaisy · 26/01/2022 21:31

PattyPan · 26/01/2022 21:32

Corn on the cobs!

HeronLanyon · 26/01/2022 21:34

Toasting only one side of toast (I think I do this for grilled cheese sandwiches sometimes ?)
Cheese on toast and all varieties of same. I would have a grill for this reason alone !!
Browsing the top of various oven top things
Puffing up omelettes (they can rise massively) although I’m not fond too fond of them.
Some limited indoor grilling of halloumi veg skewers (put grill lower have windows open and don’t do this often).
Browning sugar sometimes
Cinnamon toast ! Nearly forgot.

NewYearCalavicci · 26/01/2022 21:35

I use my grill much more than my oven , it is a old style eye level grill and is ferocious when turned up high !

Toast
Chees on toast
bacon
Sausages
waffles
hash browns
finishing omelettes
Steak
chops
some fish ( mainly kippers )
Malt loaf
hot cross buns
Plates to warm them up quickly

If I am making myself a full english , I put the bacon , sausage and hash browns under the grill and the beans / tinned tomatoes and mushrooms and fried egg on top of the grill ( all in pans of course ) by the time everything under the grill is cooked everything on top of it is too

I don't own a toaster , I don't see the point in them

HeronLanyon · 26/01/2022 21:38

Yes also grilling/blackening small tomatoes for a pasta and feta dish and other tomato grilling.
I used to grill grapefruit ! Sometimes with brown sugar on top. Haven’t for decades may try that again - heck if fondue is back (and still back and back again) then why not ?

minipie · 26/01/2022 21:39

Not much purely grilled. Bacon and fish fingers mainly.

But our oven has a brilliant setting which is grill and oven combined (called groven in our house) . It’s great for roasts or anything you want baked but extra crispy on top like pasta bake.

Riverlee · 26/01/2022 21:40

I use my grill a lot.

Sausages
Bacon
Burgers
Gammon
Cheese on toast
Crumpets
Chops

AfterSchoolWorry · 26/01/2022 21:41

Nothing and I don't use my hob either.
