TressiliansStone · 21/01/2022 21:32

@Freebus

There was one that involved a horse and a blind girl, and White Horse Hill.
The Moon Stallion. Estelle and the toad master/warlock, and her father the historian, and the white horse. It's why I visited Uffington white horse.

And I went to Avebury because of Children of the Stones.
@Moonface88 was Arabel and Mortimer a girl and a crow? I remember that
No no, a raven.

They're based on Joan Aiken's books, illustrated by Quentin Blake, which start with Arabella's Raven.

I've just been inspired to look up Jumbo Spencer – and it's online! I hadn't realised this, too, is by Helen Cresswell.

The fabulous title music is Ibert's Divertissement. Took me years to track that down!

Bananalanacake · 21/01/2022 21:53

From the Top. Bill Oddie as the only adult pupil in a stage school for children, never seen it mentioned anywhere so will be surprised if someone remembers it.

Thighdentitycrisis · 21/01/2022 21:56

Babapappa ?

We liked We Are The Champions, with the teams of kids competing against different schools. So many challenges but the best one was in the pool at the end, knowing that when the last race was swum, the kids would be told "Away you go!" and they all jumped into the pool to play with inflatables and have a jolly good time. I was sooo envious but I couldn't swim and was afraid of deep water, which made it worse. Great to watch though.

Same with Kick Start, the scrambler motorbike course for kids with motorbikes hosted by Peter Purves. I can still remember the theme music.

The cartoon with Mr and Mrs Noah aboard the Skylark, the original Moomins, that odd Ludwig, The Perishers, The Barbapappas, Basil Brush and those Schools & Colleges programmes with the 60 second clock at the start. We used to point at the screen and shoot every second out with a "pow!" before settling down to the joys of How We Used To Live. Well, it was better than maths...

TressiliansStone · 21/01/2022 22:02

Touch and Go. Two teens meet on holiday in Devon(?) and foil a terrorist plot. It all hinges on the pet food van's giant bone.

Hawkins001 · 21/01/2022 22:06

Also Geordie racer, although that was in school.

Eeeeeps · 21/01/2022 22:07

I have one I can never find / remember the name of! M

Im sure they were ‘people’ that lived behind the back wall of a shop (I think it was?). I’m convinced they were made of stone but came alive at night and would turn back to stone in the morning. I can see it so clearly but can’t find it! I mustn’t describe it very well.
