So partner and I do Wordle in the morning, today we noticed his had changed to NY Times and mine was on the original power language site and they were different words. IMO my winning word was not even a real word (the NY times Wordle didn’t accept it) - anyone else notice this?

Yep, same thing happened to me. I had to google the first word and, while it does exist, it's incredibly niche and I have never heard of it. And, as you say, the NY Times one didn't even accept it as a word.

NYT has removed six words from the Wordle list. You need to refresh the browser to be on the new list and have your device set to the right date.

All 2,315 2,309 words are stored right in your browser when you play a game. When you connect to the site, you download a nifty script that figures out what day it is on your device and shows you the correct puzzle.

It is a really smart bit of programming.

The list is just all the possible words in wordle's dictionary that it could be. So the game uses the list to see if your guess is valid. If you put in TXAPI, it won't allow it as a guess as it isn't on the list.

I got the weird word! Then dh sends me his with totally different word! Wtf? They need to sort their shit out...

I've just read the source code. There is one list which is a list of words that will be used in the game, in order. I know tomorrow's word. There is an additional list of valid words.
