engagement ring - which one to get? (Photos included)

I need to decide which engagement ring to get: blue sapphire, diamond with stones on the ring or just plain diamond ring.

I'm looking to wear it everyday (office work). I like blue sapphire but afraid in 10+ years time I might not like it anymore. plain diamond ring would be much safer option and with just a single ring would be able to afford better quality.

cannot decide! what are your thoughts?

No 2, my ring is v identical but it has 6 prongs. If you are getting it made ask for 6 prongs.

Blossomandbee · 17/01/2022 09:12

No 3 for me, it's simple and timeless. I'm not keen on coloured stones, but obviously that's just me.

BugMummy · 17/01/2022 09:15

Number 3 but I have a classic solitaire diamond. My wedding band is diamond and sapphire though

No 2 much more striking and looks the most expensive by a long way.

MeanderingGently · 17/01/2022 09:23

Number 2

stevalnamechanger · 17/01/2022 09:25

I would go for number 3

Look at London diamonds - they will be able to get you a bigger stone than that hopefully for your budget !

Abetes · 17/01/2022 09:31

Number 2

BootySOS · 17/01/2022 09:34

Number 3. Classic and elegant. Perhaps a slimmer band though. And as pure a diamond as you can afford and it will sparkle beautifully.

MinglingFlamingo · 17/01/2022 10:10

No2
Congratulations 🥂

ShinyHappyPoster · 17/01/2022 10:17

Go for 1. It's not a time to pick a safe option. In 10 years time you can replace it with a diamond eternity ring if you're bored of it.

DefyingSanity · 17/01/2022 14:54

No1 definitely. The main diamond/sapphire doesn't always sparkle in the light but the little ones always do. My ring is quite unusual as is the stone and I get compliments on it all the time from strangers!

MirandaWest · 17/01/2022 15:10

I have a sapphire engagement ring - I chose it myself and had it designed. I love having colour on the ring

I love the sapphire. But don't like the stones down the sides. It makes it look cheap.

3peassuit · 17/01/2022 15:22

Number 3. Maybe look at a lab grown diamond so you can go for a larger stone. I think they’re about a third cheaper.

AlDanvers · 17/01/2022 15:27

I would always go sapphire. Its my favourite. But then my own is. Dd (18) intervened when dp almost wenr for diamond as the main stone.

But I do agree with pp that the band isn't quite right for that sapphire one, if I was picking.

That said its still my favourite of the 3 and it's what you like best thata important.

Doubledoorsontogarden · 17/01/2022 15:45

Number 2

MiamiBeach104 · 17/01/2022 20:45

Thank you all for all your answers and opinions! Very much appreciate it!

@HermioneWeasley - thanks for your insights. I'm really tempted to have bit more bling but I see what you are taking about. What alternative would you suggest to the micro pave bands?

@MirandaWest - looks amazing! thanks for sharing the pic Flowers

@Snowiscold

I like the sapphire but I really, really dislike the small diamonds set around the actual ring. That rules out number two too. So it would have to be three.
Yes absolutely this - takes away from the main stone
MiamiBeach104 · 17/01/2022 20:49

@AlDanvers - I'm glad you got the ring you love! what band would you go for? something more blingy around the stone?

AndTime · 17/01/2022 20:50

I like number 3 - timeless and elegant.

DillDanding · 17/01/2022 20:50

Number 2. Really not keen on anything other than diamonds for engagement rings. But I'd ditch the tiny surrounding diamonds for a bigger main one.

Occitane · 17/01/2022 20:52

No. 2

MiamiBeach104 · 17/01/2022 20:55

@nahdenmardybum @doyouwantachuffedybadge - it was me who proposed!!! so not much surprise there. I gave him an option to just buy a ring of his choice but given the amount of money to be spent his position was for me to decide what I want. At least I'll get to choose what I like :)
