engagement ring - which one to get? (Photos included)

I need to decide which engagement ring to get: blue sapphire, diamond with stones on the ring or just plain diamond ring.

I'm looking to wear it everyday (office work). I like blue sapphire but afraid in 10+ years time I might not like it anymore. plain diamond ring would be much safer option and with just a single ring would be able to afford better quality.

cannot decide! what are your thoughts?

2 - it looks more "wow" and expensive than the others.

The other two are nice but aren't as impressive IMO.

No 2 would be my preference (female view)

No 1 if your partner is quite out there and loves colour

It depends on the size of the stone you want. I like 1 and 2 but I gave up on those styles when I worked out that the stone size that looked ‘right’ on my hand would mean a £££££ ring I’d be worried about losing/being stolen. I didn’t like how they looked (on my fat fingers) with a smaller stone.

3 if the diamond was bigger. I don't like diamonds on bands.

2 definitely but I’m a diamond lover.

Blue sapphire is stunning

FormerlySpeckledyHen · 16/01/2022 20:52

No 2 . I don’t like blue.

Love the classic style of number 3, its timeless

whywouldntyou · 16/01/2022 20:59

Find one you adore. I got mine 28 years ago and still adore and 100% would choose it again, no photo as it is pretty unique and very outing. Brought it from a pawn broker. Can get more unique choices second hand.

I'll be honest, I'm not wild about any of those. What is your budget and maybe people can make suggestions? Of the styles you've chosen, it's hard to say which is nicer without knowing the size and quality of the stones.

notyouagainn · 16/01/2022 21:07

Number 2 congratulations 😊

Penguinsmum · 16/01/2022 21:09

Number 2

LoveFall · 16/01/2022 21:16

I love #3. It is timeless and elegant.

Bushkin · 16/01/2022 21:17

Number 2

No. 3. You'll want to match a wedding and eternity ring with it. My husband got me a solitaire with the mount shaped like a twisted tree. So the wedding ring had to be shaped to it (and it's lovely, like a wave, I've got a tree and a wave). Then he wanted to get me an eternity ring - and it'll be £££ because it'll be bespoke to fit.

I've never told him I'd've been happy with a rub over 🙃

TopCatsTopHat · 16/01/2022 21:20

Number 1. The other 2 are utterly clone so so dull.

doyouwantachuffedybadge · 16/01/2022 21:22

People choose their own engagement rings?! When did this become a thing???!!!! Surely being proposed to is a surprise and this includes the ring your partner selects? What is going on here? Shock.

ChocolateHelps · 16/01/2022 21:25

Can you go and try on?

I thought I would want a really modern engagement ring..tried a couple on and they left me cold.

I have a big aquamarine with 2 diamonds either side...bloody love it and have had it 22 years now. And I have a half eternity with mix of aquamarine and diamond (bought for 10 yr anniversary)

ZenNudist · 16/01/2022 21:25

No 1 is nice . If you like it get it.

No. 1, absolutely
GrandmasCat · 16/01/2022 21:28

I love number 2 but I think you have to be into a lot of glitzy stuff and clothing for that ring to look classy on an average day.

I love the blue one.

TracyMosby · 16/01/2022 21:32

Number 1 or 2. 3 is a bit blah.

I let my exH chose the engagement ring and I hated that monstrosity every day of the marriage.

There’s no way on Earth I would put myself through that again if I ever get married again.
