Just measure both the dc!

Dc1 is 5f2 (and a half) Shock
Dc2 who is a couple of years younger is 4ft5

I seem to have grown giants lighthearted

I know both of them are tall but still I’m 5f9 (and a half) and dc1 only has to grow another 7 inches and will be the same height as me….dh is around 5ft11!

Youngest DD just turned 11, she's 5'4", same height as me and her older sister, and the tallest any of my kids have been at this age, including DS who's now 22 and and 6'2".

glittereyelash · 16/01/2022 16:01

I was 5ft 8 when I was 10 I was like a giant beside my classmates but that was it I never grew after that 🤣

Frigginintheriggin · 16/01/2022 16:05

10 yr old dgd is 5ft 1. Her father is tall and the men in my family are tall.
3 Yr old dgd is tall aswell.

Garysmum · 16/01/2022 16:54

my best friend aged 10 was a girl at 6ft2. My friends DD was 5ft at age 9. Neither grew any taller (the latter went from the tallest at the start of 6 to now being v short for year 10).

I don't think height aged 10 is always a good indication

Hemingwayzcatz · 16/01/2022 16:57

11 yo is 5 ft 4, 10 yo is 5 ft 2 and 9 yo is 5 ft.

StarCourt · 16/01/2022 17:31

DD12 is 5 ft7 and size 7 feet.

StrangeAddiction · 16/01/2022 18:21

Ds2 is almost 12 and is about...4ft 6 maybe? I'm 5ft and he's only up to my lips! There's a few in his class that are around about the same height, both boys and girls but a few are very tall where if I didn't know any better I'd say they were in about year 9!

Ds1 was about 5ft at the start of year 7 and at almost 22 he's about 5ft 7

Dd14, was probably about the same height as Ds2 at his age but now she's taller than me (not hard Grin) at about 5ft 1.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 16/01/2022 18:36

DD2 on her 10th birthday was 140cm. 4 foot 6.

She's 5 foot 8 and would have been taller were it not for scoliosis making some of her height turn into sideways angles ('like a sodding branch' as she complained).

I'm 5'5", was 4'4" at the same age and never felt small until I started working in schools where I am now shorter than the average 13 year old - and practically every single Y11 girl on site by a good head and shoulders.

A Y7 over five foot tall isn't anything remarkable nowadays, particularly with girls. You'll get 4-6 out of 200 who are around 5'10" - 6'0" on their first day of secondary, but most are over five foot with just a small number (single figures) under 4'10". They still reach a standard adult height, though - even the one who turned up on the first day looking like a six year old with her feet dangling from a standard secondary class chair was still taller than me by Year 11 - no growth condition, her Mum and Grandma were both about 5 foot tall.

Those of us who were absolutely average or even a bit taller than average at 18 will become the Little Old Ladies to their children.

My ds is 10 and is 4ft 6

Natsku · 16/01/2022 18:40

My nearly 11 year old DD is around 146cm, I think that's 4ft 9? Judging from school photos in the Autumn there's not a lot of difference in height between the girls in her class, she's right in the middle of them. Growth spurts must be due soon!

pastapestoparmesan · 16/01/2022 18:48

I teach Y6. The 4 tallest (all girls) are as tall as me if not a little taller - I’m 5 foot 5. Two of them are very overweight, the other two are skinny.

thirdfiddle · 16/01/2022 19:01

Ok, maybe a couple of cm taller, but not so you'd notice on average I think:

How tall is your 10/11 year old??
thirdfiddle · 16/01/2022 19:16

Of course, we also start to shrink a little after 40.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 16/01/2022 21:01

Oh, just adding as somebody DMd me to remind me;

Not every child is average height or tall. Apologies to anybody who feels that I was being dismissive of children with growth conditions.

Pleaseuniverseplease · 16/01/2022 21:10

DS 12.5 years old Yr7 is 5'2
DD 11years old Yr6 is 4'8

ProcrastinationIsMySuperPower · 16/01/2022 21:10

DD11, year 6, is 5ft 3 and only just hitting puberty so I reckon she has a way to go yet.
DD17 is also 5ft 3! Much to her annoyance, she's not grown at all since about 15.

I'm 5ft 8, ExH (DD17 dad) is 5ft 9, DH (DD11 dad) is 6ft 2.

winnieanddaisy · 16/01/2022 21:22

My DS was 5'4" at 17 . Used to get stopped by the police every time he drove my car even though he was legal to drive it . A year later he was 6'2" and didn't need proof of age anymore Grin

BearSoFair · 16/01/2022 21:27

DS2 is 12 and 5'0, he's definitely on the shorter end of the scale amongst his friends. DS1 was about 5'7 at the same age! He's now 6'2 as an adult.

LER83 · 16/01/2022 21:30

Ds 11 yr 7 is about 4ft 10.
Dd 9 yr 5 about 4ft 6
Ds 6 yr 1 about 4ft.
Can't wait to see how tall they end up, I'm 5ft and dh is 5ft 11 so could be any height! Really interesting seeing how much it all differs between kids the same age!

JoeMaplin · 16/01/2022 21:32

They vary so much at this age. Some grow sooner, some later. You need to factor in height of parents in, and general family height. No 4 (DS) is almost 11 about 148cm. However he takes size 7 shoes. The curve in the height chart puts him at around 6ft 1 fully grown which is the exact height of my eldest (DS). My family are tall. My husband is only 5ft 8. One daughter was tiny at 11, she took a size 1 shoe when starting seniors. She didn’t stop growing till about 15, and ended up about 5 ft 5/6. So many variables

mellicauli · 16/01/2022 21:33

Don'r be so sure.. I was 5 ft 1 aged 11
And still 5 ft 1 aged 54

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 16/01/2022 21:36

DD2 is 11 and 5'3. people do comment on how tall she is. she wasn't one of the taller ones when she started school, so I think it's an early puberty growth spurt, and she'll end up somewhere around 5'4"-5'6". Her sister is nearly 15 and has probably stopped growing at 5'7"

Quornflakegirl · 16/01/2022 21:37

My dds have just turned 9 and are 4’9 and 4’8

SallyWD · 16/01/2022 21:41

DD just turned 11 is 158cm (5ft2). She's the 2nd tallest in her class.

AmberGer · 16/01/2022 21:42

DS turned 10 this week. Measured him yesterday and he is 4ft 9in.
Our 16 yo DS is 5ft 9.5in
