Another Bloody Downing Street party

999 replies

JustJam4Tea · 10/01/2022 21:51

So hours after telling us to only meet one other person outside from a different household 100 invited to Downing Street BYO in the garden.

It was unlawful to mix outside. If my employer had invited 100 staff to a garden party we’d have all been arrested.

And yes stories do die down. But every time these party/gatherings stories die down, another one is released. And each one is worse than the one before.

Do we think Carrie is bored of slumming it in the Downing Street flat so what Boris to stop being Prime Minister and this is her way of going about it?
Wrongkindofovercoat · 11/01/2022 22:41

@AllThePogs that's true, but what is the very worst that will happen to Boris ? He loses his current job and gets a new better job and a knighthood ? It won't be in the realms of consequences that the average person on the street would be facing ?

AllThePogs · 11/01/2022 22:42

Grin @jgw1
I would love it if that is true. But I think it is Cummings.

AllThePogs · 11/01/2022 22:42

@Wrongkindofovercoat yes I know! That is why he doesn't really give a shit.

The one thing Boris seems to want more than anything else is everyone's praise and admiration.
Not being Prime Minister and having to leave as a result of his inability to lie convincingly anymore will be deeply painful for him.

BarrowInFurnessRailwayStation · 11/01/2022 22:47

I would imagine his ego is getting pretty bruised by now. I sincerely hope he's ousted in disgrace, but I fear he'll just keep going. They'll only get rid of him when they're ready.

How annoying to have all these people just endlessly using your garden for works do's and no donor will stump up for your plans for a post pandemic makeover of your living quarters, the only way out is out !

whenwillthemadnessend · 11/01/2022 22:48

Mark my words Boris will
Be gone by end jan

Sunak will Be in

Only chance tories have of saving the party

Labour will win next election

ancientgran · 11/01/2022 22:55

@Clavinova

Would you agree that if in a hypothetical situation 30 people gathered in a garden on 20th May 2020 for a social they were breaking the law of the land at that time?

Why did Durham police think the indoor party was not breaking the law of the land in May 2020? They know more than I do about the law of the land.

Why not start a thread about it, this thread is about a party at No 10.

Well it never ends well for PM's , ask just about all of them over the last few decades ! He knows this is how it ends, if he goes over a knees up, he will be seen as the Just William of PM's , if he staggers on and he goes because people can't afford to eat or heat their homes, well that will seriously put a dent his less tone deaf public speaking audience.

Notonthestairs · 11/01/2022 22:58

Headlines tomorrow looking pretty bad for Johnson.

He's going to have to mumble something more than "Sue Gray" at PMQ's or his own MP's may turn further. Sunak is holding the purse strings.

SpindleyCrow · 11/01/2022 23:09

Johnson's being lacerated on Newsnight, including by decent Conservatives like Baroness Ros Altmann.

Political analyst's point: the Red Wall is fucked for the Tories.

AllThePogs · 11/01/2022 23:14

I agree the Red Wall is fucked. Good.
And we only have energy bill increases and food price increases to look forward to.

Wrongkindofovercoat · 11/01/2022 23:21

I think this is the mistake a lot of people are making, that the Conservatives as they are now are the Conservatives of the past, I imagine there will be a few old school Conservatives left who managed to avoid the cull, but doubt they hold much sway.

DuncinToffee · 11/01/2022 23:23

BBC Newsnight

“There could be videos, photos, audio of said party.”

The @Telegraph’s @christopherhope says he’s been told by ministerial sources there could be videos of the No 10 lockdown party that took place in May 2020

It’s culture at top, would May, Blair, Cameron be caught this sort thing on their watch? Hell no.

Now do you mean they wouldn't have done it? Which I would be inclined to agree. Or did you mean they wouldn't allow themselves to get caught? Which is where lovable old Boris has slipped up - maybe he shouldn't have given Cummings the boot.

BitcherOfBlakiven · 11/01/2022 23:31

Cummings is spilling the tea and I’m here for it.

MagpiesStoleMyTreasure · 11/01/2022 23:32

@Clavinova

MagpiesStoleMyTreasure I've done nothing of the sort. Care to back up that accusation?

Yes - you copied all of ohfourfoxache's post (including the foul language) and posted This.

None of that poster's language was directed at you as far as I can see?

And quoting a post is not the same thing as writing it yourself. 🙄

Convenient timing these party leaks.

The headlines focused on that....just when the stable 'low' number of those killed by Covid rises to nearly 400 in just one day.

That will be the 'low' norm, together with the many newly disabled by Long Covid, once Twelve Homes Sunak takes over.

Tealightsandd · 11/01/2022 23:36

people can't afford to eat or heat their homes

If you think it's bad now, just wait until Twelve Homes Sunak gets in.

MagpiesStoleMyTreasure · 11/01/2022 23:38

@BitcherOfBlakiven

Cummings is spilling the tea and I’m here for it.
Not just him. Lots of people in Whitehall have had enough but there are different motives. The issue is that unfortunately Johnson will likely be replaced soon with somebody even more abhorrent.
Tealightsandd · 11/01/2022 23:39

But Sunak will appeal to the likes of the Amersham and Chesham leafy shire Nimbys who've started looking towards the Lib Dems.

Anyone vulnerable in any way - clinically or financially - is, however, in for it.

MagpiesStoleMyTreasure · 11/01/2022 23:40

@Tealightsandd

Exactly. Or Raab "I don't believe in human rights". Or Patel? Gove? Reiss-Mogg?!? Everybody remotely decent or moderate or rational was expelled from the party for opposing Brexit so now the only people left to take over are incompetent, stupid and in many cases psychopathic.
BitcherOfBlakiven · 11/01/2022 23:40

Yes, I’ve no doubt about that @MagpiesStoleMyTreasure

I’m at the stage with it at all where everything is on fire and I’m laughing hysterically.

I just fucking can’t with this Government any moreZ
