Another Bloody Downing Street party

JustJam4Tea · 10/01/2022 21:51

So hours after telling us to only meet one other person outside from a different household 100 invited to Downing Street BYO in the garden.

It was unlawful to mix outside. If my employer had invited 100 staff to a garden party we’d have all been arrested.

Carrie Johnson’s Instagram account is now private.

For somebody who is involved in communications she has a bit of a tin ear when it comes to posting Boden style family photos. (Although I would guess that she thinks Boden is common).

IntermittentParps · 11/01/2022 16:23

The antithesis to Johnson hasn’t worked this is when someone like Blair would have absolutely won the public over.
One reason why I personally would have Blair and New Labour back in a heartbeat.

I saw a Britain Elects poll with slightly different figures: 66% should resign; 24% shouldn't.

SerendipityJane · 11/01/2022 16:24

Are people waving signs with his name on at downing Street. I hope so.

A much better place would be during the jubilee celebrations.

It's political communications though, it doesn't have to play to any wider public / popular taste.
CalmDownBoris72 · 11/01/2022 16:29

What makes me most annoyed it that they’ll just get away with it, no one (general) gives enough of a shit, or if they do, can’t see a way to make it better.

How low are our standards now?!

OldaRailer · 11/01/2022 16:30

@Curiousmouse

They are a bunch of absolute arseholes who have brought complete disgrace to our country.
True.
OldaRailer · 11/01/2022 16:30

I'd love to see him try a walkabout in public. They don't though.🤷

TimBoothseyes · 11/01/2022 16:31

I am fucking furious. Whilst those bastards were sat around enjoying themselves, I was listening to my (adult) DD, sobbing down the phone as she was still trying to come to terms with the death of her beloved Grandma (my mum), in late March 2020 of covid. To read that the very same people that denied me the chance to go to visit DD and do what any mother aches to do when their child is upset ( comfort them, hug them and whisper in their ear that everything will be ok), sickens me. I feel that, not only have they stuck 2 fingers up at all of us suffering bereavements at the time, they have metaphorically pissed all over the graves of the dead.

merrymouse · 11/01/2022 16:36

I think this is different, because I don’t think it’s possible to argue that it was anything other than a social event.

The contrast between the email and what people were being told to do by ministers at briefings is too great.

the80sweregreat · 11/01/2022 16:37

Am ex police officer was on sky news just now being interviewed.
Apparently, the rules at the time of this do in may 2020 revolves around who invited who to the party. Even he had a raised eyebrow over someone else arranging a gathering without the owners not knowing about it ?
I suspect that the PM could still get away with this depending on who arranged it and if it can be proved that the owners wasn't there ( this is what he was hinting could happen ?)
As long as Boris Johnson wasn't around , then it'll be the other people who could end up being fined. They would have to look at the cctv too.
I'm sure that Sue Gray will make sure that Boris Johnson wasn't aware of any parties or went anywhere near his own garden that day. Not me , guv. I was too busy.
Depends who you believe I suppose ?

..

leotardrock · 11/01/2022 16:37

I'm a Civil Servant, we have been told repeatedly to make sure we follow the rules bla bla - don't make it in to the Daily Mail! Even before plan B was reintroduced we were told to wear masks if we went out in a group, set an example! Bla bla

The bloody irony! AngryConfused

I've always been very proud to be a Civil Servant, followed the Civil Service code etc but this bunch almost have me looking for another job! Who can be proud to work for them? 🤷‍♀️

ItchySnoof · 11/01/2022 16:38

Can't wait to see bugger all happen to them. Between them and rich CEO's I can't be fucked to be a member of british society anymore.

Fed up with obeying Tory rules and lining the pockets of rich cunts for minimum wage that needs topping up with benefits.

There is literally no hope left. It will take society collapsing or people actually standing up in droves against these people in protest - but the UK has zero backbone and even the ones on this thread whining about how unfair all this is will do bugger all about it.

OldaRailer · 11/01/2022 16:48

Er, you are here on this thread "whining."

SerendipityJane · 11/01/2022 16:53

Bread and circuses. (Although I don't think Juvenal meant this kind of circus).

TimBoothseyes · 11/01/2022 16:54

So what your saying is....you're going to do bugger all about it then. Why complain about people "whining about how unfair all this is will do bugger all about it", when you are one of those people.

showmethegin · 11/01/2022 16:54

I was miscarrying our third baby on 20 March 2020. My parents didn't come over, even to sit in the garden with me because it wasn't allowed. I didn't get any medical care for 5 weeks because of Covid until I haemorrhaged in the middle of the night. I did all of that alone while they were drinking wine in the garden.

AlexaShutUp · 11/01/2022 16:57

Flowers @showmethegin, I'm sorry to hear that. The current debate about the Downing Street party must be hard for you to hear at the moment.

showmethegin · 11/01/2022 16:57

Marmelace · 11/01/2022 16:59

It just shows how little they think of us. A kick in the teeth to even their most ardent supporters.

BarrowInFurnessRailwayStation · 11/01/2022 17:01

....even the ones on this thread whining about how unfair all this is will do bugger all about it.

What do you suppose everyone should do?

Riot?

Refuse to pay our taxes?

Mass Demonstration?

Write to our MPs?

None of these things will do anything.

Perhaps organise a general strike?

Where is Starmer in all this? Has he uttered a few dull words of slight criticism yet? Hmm

the80sweregreat · 11/01/2022 17:04

Sir Kier Starmer is currently in isolation with covid and letting Angela Raynor have a go at them instead.

IntermittentParps · 11/01/2022 17:04

Didn't someone once say something along the lines of standing back and not getting in the way while your enemy shot themselves in the foot? (I'm paraphrasing heavily).

the80sweregreat · 11/01/2022 17:06

He ( Kier ) has released a message about this apparently
It was so dull that they only flashed it up on screen for a moment just now

BarrowInFurnessRailwayStation · 11/01/2022 17:06

Oh, wow, what could possibly go wrong there?

I didn't know covid affected someone's ability to speak. Couldn't he send a message out or something?

Ye gods, what a shower of shit they all are.

BarrowInFurnessRailwayStation · 11/01/2022 17:09

😂

The covid won't get him, but the chronic dullness certainly will.

Shooting themselves in the foot? They could blow their bloody legs off and still get away with it.
