Another Bloody Downing Street party

999 replies

JustJam4Tea · 10/01/2022 21:51

So hours after telling us to only meet one other person outside from a different household 100 invited to Downing Street BYO in the garden.

It was unlawful to mix outside. If my employer had invited 100 staff to a garden party we’d have all been arrested.

@the80sweregreat

My MP is a ERG Tory nut He would ignore any correspondence from me
What's his majority, the80s?

Is there a credible opposition party or candidate operating locally?

the80sweregreat · 11/01/2022 13:57

Someone on Nick Ferrari on lbc was trying to say they the rules had altered by then !!
She was adamant that it wasn't rule breaking.
He had to give up on her
She'll still vote for Boris Johnson

jgw1 · 11/01/2022 13:58

@Hearwego

I think a lot of people don’t actually care about Boris’ lies or what he does. The voting public have short memories. Lots of people haven’t forgiven Labour for the last time they were in power. People won’t stop voting the Tories just because of this. There needs to be a strong alternative. I don’t think Sir Keir connects enough with the voting working class. Labour haven’t won since 2005. If there was an election tomorrow I wouldn’t be surprised if Boris still won.
The public have short memories and haven't forgiven Labour for the last time they were in power.

Surely they can't both be true?

There must be a reason why so many people keep voting Tory, but I have no idea what it is.

And no, but Jeremy Corbyn is not actually a reason.

the80sweregreat · 11/01/2022 13:59

My MP has a majority of 31.000
Second most popular Tory MP apparently.

SerendipityJane · 11/01/2022 14:00

@AlexaShutUp

In fairness, many of us are saddled with Tory MPs after voting for other parties. We are not responsible for the rest of the electorate's decisions!
But 3 in 10 were clearly happy with any outcome - including this.

Because that's what this shower of shits will take to the bank. For all the frothing, whoever wins a seat has a 30% headstart. Even more if it's a local election.

coronafiona · 11/01/2022 14:02

They're an absolute disgrace. Angry

boogiewithasuitcase · 11/01/2022 14:02

I haven't had time to RTFT. I remember reading about a health worker in London who died alone in a Travelodge with Covid as he couldn't get to a hospital in time.

Meanwhile the Government were inviting people to a party while telling us that we were 'all in this together'. How they must have laughed.

Hearwego · 11/01/2022 14:04

**There must be a reason why so many people keep voting Tory, but I have no idea what it is.

Well that’s the answer that Labour must ask themselves. As you said, people keep voting Tory.

OldaRailer · 11/01/2022 14:04

Johnson is still laughing.

kickupafuss · 11/01/2022 14:07

They’re just laughing at us. They’ll find some way of getting away with it.

the80sweregreat · 11/01/2022 14:09

I think we all feel a bit 'mugged off ' as the young might say.
Trouble is, if they needed to have another lockdown at any time in the future it's now completely blown!
From a public health perspective it's a disaster too ( as well as everything else )

SerendipityJane · 11/01/2022 14:12

Trouble is, if they needed to have another lockdown at any time in the future it's now completely blown!|

What on earth do you think the point of all of this is ? The media doesn't want us to hold these fuckers to account. It wants us to go rogue and make sure we can never have another lockdown again. This is no accident.

Kipperandarthur · 11/01/2022 14:15

It just gets worse and worse. He can’t keep on denying and lying, yet if he admits it all he’s admitting that he’s lied and lied and supported and attended gatherings that were illegal at the time for the whole Country.

BJ has lied all his life and career but it just doesn’t work operating like this as Prime Minister.

Holding one of their Government briefings that day reminding the nation of the rules whilst at the same time a senior staffer sending an email to 100 people inviting them to garden drinks is stunning in the extreme.

Poetrypatty · 11/01/2022 14:16

If there was an election tomorrow I wouldn’t be surprised if Boris still won

He won't, he's been behind in the polls consistently recently.

kittensinthekitchen · 11/01/2022 14:17

To avoid PMQs tomorrow?

@DuncinToffee

Yup. People will have moved on by the time his isolation is up.

ancientgran · 11/01/2022 14:19

@OhYouBadBadKitten

How the hell can the police have turned a blind eye to this at the time while moving people on from park benches, shaming them using drones for having the audacity to go for a walk, while Boris was fucking throwing parties? Angry

He lies to us. He and those covering up for him are all fucking liars.

I'm furious about what they are doing but to be fair to the police if they are standing at the front door they won't know what is going on in the garden unless it got rowdy. It will just be like people leaving work late which I assume happens regularly. I hope a couple of PCs aren't the sacrificial lambs for this.
ancientgran · 11/01/2022 14:20

So No 10 saying Martin Reynolds will continue in his role. At least they can comment on something then.

ancientgran · 11/01/2022 14:23

I wonder what Michael Ellis has been promised to get him to go into the Commons and face the flack. I'm not sure they could have persuaded me to do it but I suppose we all have a price.

LondonJax · 11/01/2022 14:24

Shelagh Fogarty on LBC had Michael Fabricant on who, in his normal patronising way, explained that all these people worked together every day and, therefore, everything was fine. We plebs had nothing to worry about and it wasn't the same as any other meeting as these people were 'working so hard'.

I'd play that to anyone who still supported Boris in this as it made my blood boil. You could literally hear the smirk in his voice. Boris would have been holding his head in his hands to hear him, Fabricant probably did him as much damage with that interview as the party allegation has.

ancientgran · 11/01/2022 14:24

I don't mean money, I was wondering if there's something for him in the next reshuffle?

Player067 · 11/01/2022 14:24

Trouble is, if they needed to have another lockdown at any time in the future it's now completely blown!

Exactly!
Before Christmas BJ was dithering about further restrictions...the pics of the garden party get leaked, BJ disappears from view, toes the line and "holds his nerve", hey presto the leaks stop...for a while.

Extension of Plan B due to be considered very soon, and various CRG/Singapore on Thames types now calling for reduced isolation periods...time for more leaks to ensure that BJ can't credibly opt for continuation of restrictions.

Player067 · 11/01/2022 14:25

Oh god I just heard that Michael Fabricant interview, absolutely infuriating

BlowDryRat · 11/01/2022 14:30

I've email my MP. She's Labour but can at least help in holding this contemptible PM to account.

something2say · 11/01/2022 14:35

I think, it doesn't matter.
They have long thought they're better than everyone else, the ruling classes etc.
This is just another indication of that.
They and their ilk are the latest examples of where society is harming itself.
If we carry on, we'll all be dead so who cares.

Hearwego · 11/01/2022 14:41

I wonder if Boris will tune up to PM questions tomorrow...
Remember he has a way of shirking events.
I remember when he abstained from voting on the Heathrow expansion plans. Despite telling his constituents that he would lay down on the run way to stop it being expanded.
I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s not in the Commons tomorrow.
