I’ve been on mumsnet for about 18 years and you know what, if I read about people putting ducks in a row once more I might go mental.
What phrase do you hate.

OP posts:
StrongerOrWeaker · 08/01/2022 14:00

Unmumsnetty hugs
Ltb
This too shall pass
Did you mean to be so rude?
Balonz

eveningbubble · 08/01/2022 14:00

my own 'little' family
nibbles

Sparklingbrook · 08/01/2022 14:00

@WhenISnappedAndFarted

Boils my piss.

It's revolting and there are so many better phrases that could be used.

'Grates my carrot?'
StrongerOrWeaker · 08/01/2022 14:00

When someone barges in half way through a discussion, all clever, with a 'x is a red herring'

Huntswomanonthemove · 08/01/2022 14:01

@eddiemairswife

"Didn't want to read and run." by people who have nothing to say, but want to sound sympathetic, (and see their name on the screen)
This ^
Angrymum22 · 08/01/2022 14:02

“I don’t have children….”
Why the f are they offering their opinion/advice then on a parenting forum. Same applies to those who have never been married.
Long marriage/relationship of 5yrs????

WhatAHexIGotInto · 08/01/2022 14:03

Call them out
Baby - as in 'baby doesn't like that' etc.
Hubster/hubby etc
So what did they say when you told them that wasn't acceptable - when it's clear that the OP was asking for advice because they hadn't said anything in a difficult situation.

Sux2Buthen · 08/01/2022 14:04

"Can you link to some of these posts please?"

Obviously not

GreenWheat · 08/01/2022 14:04

Social anxiety. So overused, when most people either mean they aren't very good with other people, or are just a bit worried about something. I immediately stop reading posts that use this phrase.

OhWhyNot · 08/01/2022 14:04

Made my teeth itch and boils my piss are horrible

I tell it like it is thankfully rarely used

Lndnmummy · 08/01/2022 14:05

"i don't mean to be rude OP"

So why the f*^% are you rude then babes, huh?

AColdDuncanGoodhew · 08/01/2022 14:05

"it smacks of..." really really annoys me.

Allaboutyou222 · 08/01/2022 14:05

@NoWordForFluffy

'Wow. Just wow.' This one really grates on me, but I'm not sure why! 🤷‍♀️
Yes. I hate that. Also LTB as previously mentioned. HTH is also a massive MN cliche.

Seeing people write ‘you sound jealous’ ‘you sound horrible’ etc. just to be nasty.

skellingtonboot · 08/01/2022 14:06

Snacking - no, you are eating.
Howling - are you a wolf?
Nibbling - you're not a fucking mouse.
Boobing - the sort of word that 11 year old boys snigger at.
Screaming - nope, you just mean they raised their voice.
Cringey - don't even know where to start with this one.

NeedAHoliday2021 · 08/01/2022 14:06

No is a full sentence. Maybe if you’d like to look like a total knob it is but those of us who have friends would never respond in that way. It would be totally weird. I always question be social skills of those advising that.

Lndnmummy · 08/01/2022 14:07

"i have mental health" or "I have anxiety"

TheHumanSatsuma · 08/01/2022 14:07

@donkey86

‘Picky bits’ eurgh
Oh, yes!
Lndnmummy · 08/01/2022 14:07

"Making memories"

suckingonchillidogs · 08/01/2022 14:09

When someone gets upset and says "I had a little cry" - just say you're upset/pissed off! A little cry just sounds pathetic

Sparklingbrook · 08/01/2022 14:09

'Shaking and crying' seems to be popular.

'Boob monster'. I think you mean your baby is cluster feeding maybe.

Lipsandlashes · 08/01/2022 14:09

“Doctor here”
“Teacher here”
“Accountant here”
How about “twat here!”

TheHumanSatsuma · 08/01/2022 14:09

I’m hosting

Picky bits

The number of emetophobes. No, you just don't like being sick, like every single other person.

LetHimHaveIt · 08/01/2022 14:10

‘you sound jealous’

Loathe this. Principally because they usually mean 'envious' 🙄 but also because people use it when the OP doesn't sound envious. At all. There was a thread years ago where the woman OP was talking about was clearly - and with the help of her mum - financially abusing some old boy, and buying Land Rovers and clothes and exotic holidays. And 70% of respondents were telling OP that she was jealous and to 'Keep her beak out' (another detested phrase).
