I’ve been on mumsnet for about 18 years and you know what, if I read about people putting ducks in a row once more I might go mental.
What phrase do you hate.

Bun fight is an argument on a thread so the throwing back and forth of insults. I've no idea where it came from

WobblyLondoner · 08/01/2022 12:48

"Making memories". Just horrible. Go out, do nice things, have fun, take pictures etc.

SeanMean · 08/01/2022 12:49

Utterly terrified

QueBarbaridad · 08/01/2022 12:49

@BiscuitLover3678

What on earth is a bun fight ?
When I was a girl it was a (children’s) tea party. On here it seems to mean a ‘pile on’ or a lot of abuse flying around.
coogee · 08/01/2022 12:49

When people refer to their child's body parts as tiny

“Teeny tiny” to describe anyone with a dress size less than 12.

HoldingTheDoor · 08/01/2022 12:49

This isn't a phrase and it's unfair but people referring to three and four year olds as toddlers really bugs me.

floridana · 08/01/2022 12:50

Educate yourself.
Admittedly, not just a Mumsnet one but on social media too. It sounds so self important. It's like anyone who doesn't agree with them needs to be re-educated.

Thatsplentyjack · 08/01/2022 12:50

People calling themselves "myself" but that's not just on mn. I've even head it in songs. Just say ME or I ffs!

fungussingstheblues · 08/01/2022 12:50

"It is what it is."

WHAT is what WHAT is??!

Ohmycron · 08/01/2022 12:50

@LizBennet

Cancel the cheque Any reference to Snapped and Farted 😑 CF

In the bin please 👍🏼

“I was sat”
“I was stood”

Learn some grammar.

Quarks69 · 08/01/2022 12:51

‘so dramatic’

When they are usually just giving their point of view!

StrongSunglasses · 08/01/2022 12:51

The boiling of piss is revolting phrase and very visual. I imagine some angry face stirring a bubbling vat of their own piss and muttering profanities.

Passed. It’s just means go and rethink it until you agree with me.

There is always a poster, usually about the third that will ask 'are you usually...' or 'is he normally this...' as some sort of passive aggressive comment on someone in the original post

Thatsplentyjack · 08/01/2022 12:51

I heard one on the radio the other day "no one loves MYSELF like you do"

WHAT????!!!!

LagerthaofKattegat · 08/01/2022 12:52

Also

Snuggling with the DC on the sofa with a hot chocolate

Totally impractical anyway. It would get spilled in my house.

I think "you sound like hard work" is often used to be as cutting as possible. I'm not sure what the OP is meant to say in reply and I don't think it's ever intended to be helpful.

littleburn · 08/01/2022 12:52

'Let's call them ..,' as in 'my friends, let's call them Claire and Alice'. Don't know why but it gives me the rage!

Agree! Also no one can ever slag off their friends and still be a true friend. It’s ridiculous.

@LagerthaofKattegat

Think.

As in “a hobby, think crocheting “

You mean

“A hobby, similar to /like, for example, crocheting “

Oh yes! Another guaranteed gear-grinder.
LagerthaofKattegat · 08/01/2022 12:53

@StrongSunglasses totally agree.

DropYourSword · 08/01/2022 12:53

Place marking

ODFOD (although not seen this in a good while!)

“Got form” for something

“Reader”

LagerthaofKattegat · 08/01/2022 12:53

@FetchezLaVache no one would say that in real life would they.
