Elizabeth, the GSD
Sooty, the white cat

My favourites are Ears and Snowball - both horses

This is potentially a bit outing, but my friend and his partner brilliantly decided to let their then four-year-old son name their dog.

So now they have a dog named RobotCrocodile.

My Bro has a whippet called Sparky, which is so perfect for him.

We used to have a cat called Poppy until the vet pointed out that she was a he. He then became Humphrey. My next-door neighbour has a cat called Humphrey, he's a she.

deathofastrawberry · 06/01/2022 17:24

We were gonna call our black lab Ozzy and was set on that name before changing our minds last minute and calling him Bruce. Suits him well.

Scoobydoobywho · 06/01/2022 17:26

I had a rescue who came with the name "Sausage". She wasn't even a dachshund, she was a terrier. Grin

Jaxhog · 06/01/2022 17:26

We’ve named all our cats after stars, particularly ones that aren’t very bright and are hard to find. Current cat is Eta Delphini. She’s known as Bob.

Love it! We used to have a cat called Mr Spock, because of his huge ears as a kitten, although he was very far away in character. We very quickly took to calling all our cats 'Mr' something.

Ratched · 06/01/2022 17:27

Mine have all had normal names, but my best friends dogs are called Derek and Kevin - border terriers, and
I can't imagine them being called anything else😁

ElephantCup · 06/01/2022 17:31

People always think they are so clever calling pets Dave, but it’s been done to death now

I know of a poodle called Susan, and a lurcher call watch-it, he is very clumsy

Wilkolampshade · 06/01/2022 17:31

Our old Jack Russel was called Dave.

Borderterrierpuppy · 06/01/2022 17:33

A boxer called Barbara.

Runningupthecurtains · 06/01/2022 17:35

When I was a child one of my Aunts had two cats call Chaos and Mayhem. When they acquired a stray it quickly became Disorder.
The cats were actually the most calm and ordered things about the household that also contained my five cousins and a couple of noisy dogs.

ThePlumVan · 06/01/2022 17:46

There’s a few ASBOs around these parts Grin

LaurenKelsey · 06/01/2022 17:48

@Hoppinggreen

Diogi I think it’s from a cartoon but I have met one in real like as well. I like very respectable old person names for dogs - like Reginald or Mabel
Diogi, as in D-O-G ? 😆
LaurenKelsey · 06/01/2022 17:51

A thoroughly lazy basset hound named Comet.

LaurenKelsey · 06/01/2022 17:52

A friend had a mild-mannered little terrier named “Rip”.

BeautifulBirds · 06/01/2022 17:53

Silly.... The sausage dog

StinkerTroll · 06/01/2022 17:55

Deefer ('d' for dog) probably already been said but I think it's the greatest dog name ever (I'd also need a cat called Ceefer to go with it)

BunnyRuddington · 06/01/2022 17:55

Ronnie Barker.

Catswhisky · 06/01/2022 17:56

Deefer was on a sitcom years ago with Julia Sawala in it, it’s bugging me now trying to remember the name of the show.

Near us there’s a dog called Sprout which makes me smile.

I have a Basil who is now quite deaf so I get laughed at a lot when I’m shouting him loudly. Maybe need a Sybil next

BunnyRuddington · 06/01/2022 17:57

Also love that Alan Carr has aRed Setter called Bev Smile

LowlandLucky · 06/01/2022 17:57

For those that remember Viz, I knew a couple called (Daz & Shaz) they had a dog called Trace the dog Grin

Sam1111 · 06/01/2022 17:58

Chops

Thefrenchconnection1 · 06/01/2022 17:59

Godzilla. The dog would have fitted in my hand. Owner was a big man.

marmitecake · 06/01/2022 18:00

Hemingway. Imagine shouting that out in a park.

RicherThanYew · 06/01/2022 18:05

Mr Ernie the bulldog. Saw him walking slowly out of Pets at home when his Dad called him "Come on mun Mr Ernie, we want to catch the football don't we?". He was wearing a Union Jack neckerchief.
