@WhatALump

When my exh (named Dave) and I got our first dog we named him Rodney. After Dave.
We have a dog called Rodney. At least, that was his name initially but it soon became Roddy as it’s just easier to say. He is mostly just Rod these days, which I like because when the kids were little, they had a story book called ‘Rod the dog’.

I'm a big fan of 'human' names for dogs and cats.

A friend of mine had a wonderful, now sadly deceased, JRT named Colin. I loved him.

iloveeverykindofcat · 06/01/2022 16:38

I'm not saying this is a good name, but when my brother and I were in Germany we distinctly heard a man summon his GSD by the name of Adolf. We did a double take and looked at eachother to confirm but we'd both heard it.

EmoIsntDead · 06/01/2022 16:38

A sausage dog called Richmond

StillSmallVoice · 06/01/2022 16:39

I heard of a pair of dogs called Whiskey and Soda.

I had a cat which had a name but answered (sort of) to 'Cat'.

William can’t remember what breed but he definitely looked like a William

Winniewonka · 06/01/2022 16:46

Growing up we had a dog named Mack the Knife after the Bobby Darin song. He was always referred to by his full name and I always thought the song was about him! He was quite intimidating.
In those days, dogs often took themselves off for a walk😀

I know someone with a greyhound called Mouse.
iloveeverykindofcat · 06/01/2022 16:58

a greyhound called Mouse.

That's kind of appropriate though. They look like mice. Long skinny mice.

Chaos! Very apt fir the dog in question.

I worked in a boarding kennel at one point and we heard some fab names. There was a bull mastiff called Mouse who was a regular, and a total sweetheart. There was also a cat called Everest- because he liked to climb!

I had a Jack Russell dog called Mister. I had him from a rescue centre in the 1970 era. He was given the name Mister,by an old guy who was in charge of the rescue place.. I chose him, out of about 10 other dogs,
I used to feel a bit stupid, when calling out his name on walks ,if he ever ran ahead of me etc. many men would turn around to look..!

IvysMum12 · 06/01/2022 17:10

All lovely dogs.

QueenofLouisiana · 06/01/2022 17:13

I had a border collie called Comet. His mother was Hailey, so he was Hailey’s Comet.

I now have Lord Archibald, obviously known as Archie. Ex-racer who didn’t know his name at all when we got him. I believe his kennel name was linked to his ear tattoos.
