There's a dog near me with the name Kate Moss. Her owner shouts her full name in the street. Hasn't lost its novelty yet.

I also like human names, like a Scottish terrier named Stephen.

Stroopwaffle5000 · 06/01/2022 15:07

I know a Rottweiler named Frank and a Daschund named Daphne

@UrbanMage

Threads like this demand a ‘like’ button.
They do but I'd be wearing it out.

@SchadenfreudePersonified

Oh - just thought of another

Westie called Bhus Dhu.

Apparently it's Gaelic for "Black Nose""

In Scot’s Gaelic I think that’s Bus for You 😂

My DMum loves Jack Russells and once had one called Yeti (because yetis are big and scary but this dog was anything but). But her current one is "Tipyn" which is Welsh for "little".

I once met a terrier called Jocund. Suited both the dog and it's owner.

Also met a family with the surname "Boot" who named their dog Welly.

A schoolfriend had a cat called Mouse.

Huey, ex Fun Lovin' Criminals lead singer and a BBC R6 (?) DJ, has a dog called Classified.

Took me a while to get it until I thought of someone asking 'What's your dog's name?'.....

Echobelly · 06/01/2022 15:24

My singing teacher had a westie called Musetta, after the coquette from Puccini's 'La Boheme', which is a great name for an attention-seeking dog!

I used to have two beautiful black labs, litter brothers. Soft as muck as is typical of labs. I called them Reggie and Ronnie. Was very amusing when l walked them through our local woods every day, lovely place lots of visitors. Walking along the path l would shout 'Reggie, Ronnie' (they had great recall) and anyone except the locals would expect two big mean devil dogs to run out and be frozen to the spot , hiding behind trees in one case then these two clodopping big softies would come running out.
Also used yo have a Heinz 57, DH used take to the pub sometimes and he used to affectionately call him Fuckwit as he was a lovely dog but incredibly stupid (trying repeatedly walk thru a 3ft wide door with a 4ft wide stick for example) The name stuck and the regulars all just called him that all the time. We were laughing once about the scenario if he ever went missing and having to say 'answers to Fuckwit'. One of the regulars who was an engraver even did him a disc with 'Fuquit' on it Grin
