A small cafe/patisserie in Belfast, Lazy Claire’s

Proper hot choc. Yes I have with cream and some marshmallows

Maassi · 03/01/2022 09:02

Best hot chcololate I've ever ever had is Knoops in Rye. They have different % beans, types of cocoa beans and milks so it's completely bespoke and so so addictive.

Also now have branches in Brighton, Chelsea, Clapham junction, Kensington, Richmond and Oxford

Oh my god the most amazing Christmassy hot chocolate was at Leon, it had a salted caramel syrup in it and then was sprinkled with cinnamon. Christmas in a cup! Smile

Had a good one recently at Patisserie Valerie in Edinburgh.

Best hot chocolates ever though are made by my DP using real chocolate bars and milk. Yum.

PuppyMonkey · 03/01/2022 09:06

*No to cream and marshmallows btw.

I love Chocamel which you get everywhere in Holland. I've seen it over here in tins, so I think I'll get some to heat up. They don't seem to make it with powder, just heat up the cold version. Otherwise the Whittards powders are nice.

BigGreen · 03/01/2022 09:10

Hotel Chocolat. Or Gail's bakery. They use real chocolate flakes and it tastes amazing.

GiltEdges · 03/01/2022 09:11

Harvey Nichols in Leeds makes a nice one. I always ask for no cream anyway so not sure if it normally has it or not, but it's lovely without.

Endofdaysarehere · 03/01/2022 09:14

The Highland Chocolatier does the best Spanish hot chocolate. Mild, dark and white.

Well worth driving to Grandtully for.

dementedma · 03/01/2022 09:16

In Posnan. Ladled out of a vat of thick gloopy deliciousness on a cold, snowy night

If anyone is up in Penrith in the Lake District there is a café first right in the indoor precinct which does a divine Belgian hot chocolate. Found this out when I was visiting my sister.

GremlinDolphin4 · 03/01/2022 09:23

Cocobar at Bluewater with a salted toffee truffle! I hate shopping and have teenage dds - this has been a game changer for the experience!

Avarua · 03/01/2022 09:28

Verona, Italy. Plenty of whipped cream, yes. Thick and glorious.

Valaris · 03/01/2022 09:32

The hot chocolate Milano from cafe Nero 😋

Yes!!!

BuanoKubiamVej · 03/01/2022 09:37

Bar Chocolat in Clifton, Bristol. They have about a dozen different hot chocolates and its hard to pick a favourite but several of them beat every other hot chocolate I have ever had. Further research will be needed to establish which of them is actually the best.

middleager · 03/01/2022 09:38

Hotel Chocolat, in store.
I have my own Velvetiser now and use Pendragon hot chocolate. They are always better than any I have elsewhere when out.

CheesyChipsOnWembleyWay · 03/01/2022 09:39

Slatterys in Whitefield. It is essentially made with melted chocolate and is divine

Hotelhelp · 03/01/2022 09:40

Poland!

TheVanguardSix · 03/01/2022 09:43

Cafe Rafaello on King Street in Hammersmith, London, near the Polish Centre/Ravenscourt Park. The luxury hot chocolate is the bomb.
In second place, Cafe Mari, on the river, Eyot Gardens, Hammersmith, London. Italian style hot chocolate, which is a thing of pure beauty. Also, cafe Mari does amazing Italian food and pastries.

peaceanddove · 03/01/2022 09:51

Chester's at Skelwith Bridge, near Ambleside used to do an incredible hot chocolate. They served it in a small bowl with whipped cream and full sized marshmallows. Heaven. But they've since started serving it in a normal mug with those tasteless, little marshmallows so it's just like everyone else's (and they charge more for it).

IDontHaveThePelvisForAFuton · 03/01/2022 10:06

I don't like sweet hot choc. I make it best at home whisked in a pan over a low heat with cocoa sugar and whole milk.

When I'm out I really like a cheap and cheerful Greggs (alongside a bacon roll). It's obviously a powder but it's not too sickly.

TroysMammy · 03/01/2022 10:10

I don't go out for hot chocolate much so I'm not a connoisseur but the one I had at The Filling Station in Tintern has always stayed with me.

pinkcattydude · 03/01/2022 10:15

Lapland - no idea what make it was but no cream etc just fantastic and yummy after skiiing

FelixBrown · 03/01/2022 10:20

Chococo in Swanage

LikeAbatOutOfHell · 03/01/2022 10:21

Oban Chocolate Company cafe. Had a chilli chocolate there, it was amazing. To go with it I also had chocolate waffles with chocolate ice cream and chocolate sauce. No such thing as too much chocolate 😋
