New Year's Honours list- all 3 knighted.
So very deserved. I am delighted for them, especially for Chris Whitty and JVT.

Good for them. People have been knighted for a lot less.

He was. He's had his knighthood upgraded. I had no idea that there were levels of knighthood until today.

I am just furious Tony Blaire got knighthood after falisfying documents to take us to war. Absolutely not deserved.

Well deserved indeed. This is what the honours system should be for. They have worked hard this year, especially CW and JVT.

I don't begrudge Whitty and JVT their knighthoods at all but it does seem to send out a signal that the pandemic is over. Sportspeople being rewarded for their achievements usually only receive the award at the end of their career. Given we are currently in the highest ever wave of cases with rising hospitalisations the pandemic is not over.

But congrats to them. (Jenny Harries I never warmed to as she always seemed like a Gov mouthpiece so I don't trust her as much)

Me too. I presume a knighthood lasts for the rest of your life? Blair should definitely have been given something that would last for the rest of his life - but this just makes an absolute mockery of the whole thing. Who ever would want to be in the same 'honour' club as him?

Ugh, not a fan of ridiculous honours lists anyway, but this confirms my feelings.
