At the time I wasn't the biggest Tony Blair fan but I'd much rather Blair running the show at the moment than the buffoon we have at the moment
Really??
Tony Blair is the reason for what we have today. It's the natural result of his (terrible) legacy.
Tony Blair is a war criminal.
But he also profiteered to the tune of millions from the public health housing emergency that he so lovingly nurtured.
Thatcher might've introduced right to buy - one of the worse policies ever - but Blair very enthusiastically continued it. At the time he came in, 1997, it was impossible to claim it hadn't caused a huge amount of human misery and distress. But it wasn't too late to repair a lot of the damage. Blair instead took it further.
He severely restricted access to affordable housing by pushing any old Tom, Dick, and Harry (dodgy criminals included) to Buy to Let, at the same time as cutting benefits and launching a war on the disabled.
He also pursued mass immigration. Not a problem in itself - but he refused to provide the necessary additional infrastructure and housing to accommodate millions of new arrivals.
Today's public health housing and homelessness emergency is in very large part due to Blair (and Brown's housing benefit cuts).
As for the pandemic. Tony Blair is a man whose fetishisation of youth has led us to today's eugenics lite attitudes towards the elderly and young but disabled. 'Let the bodies pile up' stems from the days of Blair's war on the disabled.
