Hello Ladies - hopefully a new thread for you... @Carosel2 @Whitestar55 @Chrissols @danblack87 @flutterby18 @wfh21 @workingfromhomenow @cherryblossom114 @Lovemydaxie @homeworkmum and anyone else I have forgotten.

OP posts:
Whitestar55 · 23/02/2022 12:48

@danblack Yeah I know, I'm not sure how it would work out in a free for all lol, but I would like more choice.

Whitestar55 · 23/02/2022 13:04

Having multiple specialties does seem to be a problem with the 5 tasks in the list set-up, I wish they would come up with something better than that.

wfh21 · 23/02/2022 13:44

I see they are advertising for secretaries in breast, hematology, urology etc - all of which I have had many years experience in but don't want to offer myself up as they would clog my other lists where I make money, but if you had a choice of lists i.e. if they set the system up so we were able to click on the specialties list on the account page and enter into just that list, might be a way of optimizing our skills and we would have more variety.

I noticed the other day 100 tasks came on my list then within seconds 40 disappeared, then it stayed steady on 60 - 66 for the rest of the day ?

deewu · 23/02/2022 13:56

Has anyone else had totally different specialities under their normal headings, I am randomly getting Endocrine letters under a speciality that is nowhere near E in the alphabet or D or even M!

danblack87 · 23/02/2022 13:57

@wfh21: where did you see the advertisement for secretaries to type work in certain areas?

danblack87 · 23/02/2022 13:58

@wfh21: yes, more specialties can clog up a list ... I agree, I have 4.

carosel2 · 23/02/2022 14:01

@deewu yes I have had skin cancers which could be dermatology and no where near what I type!

danblack87 · 23/02/2022 14:05

Maybe if we could see 10/15 tasks of the list would be better? I don't agree with all tasks being shown as this creates 'cherry-picking' and I don't particularly hold with that ... happened where I worked in the NHS and just creates more problems; in my opinion only of course. The oldest letters should be typed first - all patient's notes are important regarding speedy delivery from the outsourcer to the designation in a timely manner.

Workingfromhomenow · 23/02/2022 14:17

@danblack87 I agree that having 4 specialties can be a drawback - we then end up with the worst dictations from each one as our choice of five.
I wouldn’t mind typing for some different specialties but having been typing for Dict8 for so long now any relevant experience is felt to be too long ago. I’m sure we could all do it even without experience - I used to temp for ages and had to get used to new terminology pretty quickly then, even without the benefit of Google!

Gally123 · 23/02/2022 14:20

I have had dermatology letters in my lists, orthopaedics, nephrology, eyes and dental (among others), none of which I do, but sometimes I think it is due to where the dictation takes place. I think in the Swindon hospital if they use the private suite all the dictations come out on the same specialty. Otherwise I think it is where someone has not logged out properly and the next person comes along and uses their log in to dictate.

I would like the available to tasks to perhaps be presented in two sections - long tasks and shorter ones. Sometimes if I am waiting for a visitor or workman etc, or something else planned I do not want to start a long letter but might be able to manage a series of shorter ones.

OP posts:
Whitestar55 · 23/02/2022 14:32

Yes I've had totally the wrong specialty perhaps two or three times that's all, and I thought, oooh nice change and typed them as I thought it would prove to DICT8 that I could lol

Whitestar55 · 23/02/2022 14:34

@wfh21 DICT8 are advertising on Indeed, listing particular specialties.

danblack87 · 23/02/2022 14:58

@Whitestar55: I also have typed letters not in my Specialty with no complaint!!!

wfh21 · 23/02/2022 15:00

@Whitestar55 yes came through on my emails this week.

@danblack87 in this job I am guilty of doing the ones that make me the most money in the quickest time and the god awful dictation is left until last.

danblack87 · 23/02/2022 15:20

@wfh21: I don't feel guilty when I do the exactly the same!!!

Whitestar55 · 23/02/2022 15:31

Oh sorry @wfh21 my message about DICT8 advertising on Indeed was meant for @danblack87. I cherry pick the clearest task out of the 5 too, also without guilt.

Whitestar55 · 23/02/2022 16:02

I wish I could get more 'imposter' specialties, I managed those ok, but I'm struggling today with my usual specialties, lots of new drugs with similar sounding names that are impossible to distinguish, even with Mr Google's help

danblack87 · 23/02/2022 16:39

Feedback: Typed: Dr Majim Nordbean Should be: Dr Najib Noordin
... Excuse me, how the hell was I supposed to know that when the name was spelt out in the transcription -- that's a step too for IMO. Next time I will just ALT N: unclear FFS

danblack87 · 23/02/2022 16:40

sorry, so annoyed, I meant 'NOT spelt out on the dictation

carosel2 · 23/02/2022 17:09

@danblack87 - don't worry, I have just got lengthy feedback on the RTX shite, feel like saying sorry I don't understand pigeon English or illiterate doctors, none of the feedback makes any sense other than them managing to crack what has been dictated. I suspect they are having to ring the secretary at the trust, because no way on earth can they understand the foreign dictators unless the proofreaders are of the same nationality and can understand their accent. I'm not taking any notice of it as it isn't something I can take on board and think 'ah I will remember that next time such as a new medication or terminology' but when it's something so simple that they are trying to say like "the patient should take their medications and I will see them in another year"", that sounds like wishywashybongaluba wallawollabingbang!!! erm nope! cant understand that I'm afraid

Whitestar55 · 23/02/2022 19:11

Sometimes it's like playing the game 'Chinese Whispers'

wfh21 · 24/02/2022 08:55

@carosel2, exactly why I gave up on the RTX and to be fair it has not impacted on my line count this month. The feedback was mindboggling. Had they started by acknowledging the English was poor and well done for even getting to the end of the RE: line I might have had another go 🤣 I find the feedback negative, a more balanced approach would help, instead of the constant work-shaming (oh and maybe let us have a look at the task too)

carosel2 · 24/02/2022 09:19

@wfh21 - Yes, I think I am going to have to do the same, the only thing is I am only getting RTX work and nothing else, I have just received a page full of criticism again! Think I am just leaving DICT8 as I am not making any money from them whatsoever, its pathetic, I have made £150 this month. I hardly have any tasks on and the ones I have are all the shite from the Northern Trusts, the proofreader's feedback is ludicrous!

Harps86 · 24/02/2022 11:18

Hi - i'm looking for some advice. I'm currently having to get a new keyboard every 2-3 months due to the letters completely wearing away, does anyone have any advice on which to get next or any that don't do this please? Currently only have Q,W,Z,X,V left! Thanks

Gally123 · 24/02/2022 11:35

@Harps86 - not sure how effective but if you look on Amazon they used to do keyboard stickers for replacing worn letters. I have heard of people also using something like nail varnish to replace the letters. Might be more cost effective than keep buying new keyboards.
