Hello Ladies - hopefully a new thread for you... @Carosel2 @Whitestar55 @Chrissols @danblack87 @flutterby18 @wfh21 @workingfromhomenow @cherryblossom114 @Lovemydaxie @homeworkmum and anyone else I have forgotten.

The dictation is absolute CATTLE-POO today.

Cherryblossom114 · 14/02/2022 18:47

Good selection today which is RARE....

wfh21 · 15/02/2022 09:58

@Cherryblossom114 - "🤣🤣🤣

bye my lovely have a nice dayyeeeeeh " 🤣🤣🤣

I love being old school 😁

wfh21 · 15/02/2022 10:02

@danblack87 "babes" that's another one 😡 drives me bloody mad. I had to inform a young girl at McDonald's I wasn't her "babe" once 🤣🤣🤣 and she looked really offended 🤣🤣🤣🤣

danblack87 · 15/02/2022 10:06

@wf21: These days I don't mind being called 'Babes' (happens all the time in shops) somehow it makes me feel younger; although it is not meant as it just rolls off the tongue apparently like 'have a nice day '!. I draw the line at being called 'babes' in the workplace; however Grin.

Whitestar55 · 15/02/2022 10:10

It's seems weird to me, females calling other females 'Babe' and 'Hun'.

Gally123 · 15/02/2022 10:16

I once had a man call at the door touting for work (gardening, odd jobs etc) who was most surprised when I reminded him "I am not your 'love'." I did not offer him any work. I think it is really odd calling people you do not know 'love' or 'hun,' 'babe' etc, and rather disrespectful.

OP posts:
Whitestar55 · 15/02/2022 10:53

I don't mind being called love, almost everyone in my neck of the woods says this, although I don't myself, but I call my dog sweetie or chicken lol

danblack87 · 15/02/2022 11:07

I call my daughter babe/darling and my granddaughter chick-chick/sweetheart!

wfh21 · 15/02/2022 16:08

With all the daft PC crap they are coming out with in the NHS I find it weird that being called "babe, darling, my love, sweet heart, hun etc. hasn't been addressed 🤷‍♀️

Gally123 · 15/02/2022 16:25

@wfh21 - in a clinic letter from a dietitian after my first online clinic for coeliac disease, I was referred to as "they" and "them" and I emailed her to ask had she not noticed I was singular and female? She replied that they usually did that after an in person visit. Huh?

OP posts:
wfh21 · 15/02/2022 16:54

@Gally123, I have noticed one or two of the regular dictators have started to use this terminology recently - makes me cringe when I type it

It's a joke that they can't seem to fathom that it is equally unfair to remove Ms, Miss, Mrs, Mr, Master etc (what the majority wish for)

Gally123 · 15/02/2022 17:12

@wfh21 - I asked around from people I used to work with as to what they thought before I contacted her to complain and the general opinion was either laziness that she could not bothered to check the sex of a patient if the name was not obvious or else she was trying to be really clever and "with it." The woman was actually quite surprised that I said I thought it was offensive and disrespectful. She did not do it again.

deewu · 15/02/2022 17:21

The dreaded RTX has arrived on my list. Shock

wfh21 · 15/02/2022 17:26

@Gally123 good for you, I would have done exactly the same.

On another note, no disrespect meant but I seriously believe my tasks are not coming from this country today.

carosel2 · 15/02/2022 18:23

@deewu - 😄😄 shouldnt laugh but it sounds as though Dict8 have no other clients anymore but these! @wfh21- 🤣 perhaps the job description now is "must be able to dictate gibberish at degree level"! 😄

wfh21 · 15/02/2022 19:38

@carosel2 I believe this to be true if my day on DICT8 was anything to go by 😫

flutterby18 · 15/02/2022 21:02

@deewu - me too Hmm. Just waiting for the telling off email as I'm putting it in full until told otherwise Smile

Cherryblossom114 · 16/02/2022 02:18

Had one today who kept saying..Hospital Id RTX . I was tempted to send an AltN asking did they not get the memo.. no hospital id please just RTX then the numbers

carosel2 · 16/02/2022 08:15

@cherryblossom114 - yes I often get dictated "Hospital Number RTX" and I type exactly that even though I've been told not to put it in, Im waiting for my feedback on that one so I can say dont we have to type what we hear. I think the amount of so many rules they have stipulated and added over the years they are now getting tangled up and confused themselves as to what is right. Surely, a basic standard format should be easy applied and adhered to without the umpteen changes they have added. Its ridiculous, its as though they are doing it to get their worth out of the proof reader too. AND if you are reading this thread Dict8 pay us for the note box too, surely it would be to your advantage also, im gettimg notes longer than letters these days (we all are).

deewu · 16/02/2022 08:28

I am quite liking the "thank you, yours sincerely, kind regards" which seems to be in fashion at the moment, obviously swap the last two but a few extra characters at least paid for. Maybe I should not swap them? any thoughts, also surname then first name is another new one for me.

Gally123 · 16/02/2022 09:15

@deewu surname first then first name is the continental way of giving the name, as well as Chinese and some other countries. I always swap the 'yours sincerely, kind regards' if dictated that way and not been picked up on it.

OP posts:
wfh21 · 16/02/2022 10:31

Yes have noticed they do like a long and fond farewell at the end of each letter !!! all back to front as well, I'm just waiting for "much love to you and your surgery" 🤣

Whitestar55 · 16/02/2022 13:06

How about 'Much love to you and your surgery Babes'

danblack87 · 16/02/2022 15:12

@deewu: I am getting RTX too, Also Yours sincerely, Thank you , kind regards, Thank you in that order Hmmmmmmmmmmm ... I swap it obviously. If clearly a surname is dictated beforehand like JONES Lisa I will change it around; however, if it is DEVLIN thomas/THOMAS Devlin I don't because either could be correct. We are not psychics and we type what we here LOL
