Or do you spend money each day

OP posts:
RedCandyApple · 30/12/2021 22:52

Yes when I stay in I don’t spend 🤷‍♀️

ASDmam · 30/12/2021 22:53

Depends what you mean, I use heating and electric everyday - even though I pay for that monthly, similarly with food. I consume everyday.

AnneLovesGilbert · 30/12/2021 22:53

Loads. Haven’t bought anything for a week.

Why?

Lavendersquare · 30/12/2021 22:55

If I don't count direct debits for utilities or household bills then yes there are plenty of days when I spend absolutely nothing. I even have days out with the family and spend nothing. On balance there are probably more days in the month that I don't spend money than days when I do.

MrsJBaptiste · 30/12/2021 22:59

Very few, maybe 3 or 4 days a month?

Justkeeppedaling · 30/12/2021 23:03

Most days tbh. Particularly now I'm wfh so no Benugo's just a 2 min walk away in the central area of our office.

Musicalmaestro · 30/12/2021 23:05

I dont spend money on most days.

Kite22 · 30/12/2021 23:06

Of course.
The majority.
Even more so since wfh, but even before that.

As others have said, money "is being spent" as in the monthly bills on things like utilities and broadband and even things like fuel, but I presume you are asking about physically getting your purse out ?

rrhuth · 30/12/2021 23:08

Yes, I think more than half my days are zero spend days.

MintJulia · 30/12/2021 23:10

Apart from utilities, yes. I wfh 5 days a week at the moment, and probably don't spend anything on 4 of those days.

Fastforwardtospring · 30/12/2021 23:10

Yep, WFH now, so don’t really go out Mon - Weds, not to shops anyway, always try and do a big shop to last a week, however NY resolution is if I need to pop to a shop for something, is to just buy that something and not the other 10 items which I spot along the way which I don’t normally need!

merryhouse · 30/12/2021 23:13

What are you buying?

Agadorsparticus · 30/12/2021 23:13

We have 3-4 days of no spend days a week usually. I go food shopping once a week and pick up milk and bread mid week.

Blurp · 30/12/2021 23:14

Apart from DDs coming out of my account, and food shopping (eg to buy fresh bread every few days) I don't really spend anything unless I need to. I'm not an impulse buyer and I've never found particular joy in buying for the sake of it. Will happily buy something if I want it, I just don't want much.

OneRingToRuleThemAll · 30/12/2021 23:16

Most days are no spend days. I often what on earth people are buying when they spend every day. We do a weekly food shop and then I might buy a book once every few weeks for my Kindle and go clothes shopping twice a year.

GTAlogic · 30/12/2021 23:17

Being skint means I have lots of days where I don't spend anything.

RedSoloCup · 30/12/2021 23:43

No I spend money every day even if it's just a loaf of bread / pint of milk we always need something

purpledagger · 31/12/2021 00:05

I don't spend everyday, but when I go to the shops, I spend quite a bit, in one go. I'm time poor, so try to do as much as I can when I'm out.

I feel like there is always something, we need eg 4 pint milk, batteries for the tv remote control, bread, non uniform day at school, one of the children broke their water bottles for school, it's a relatives birthday, the kitchen sink needs unblocking.......

PegasusReturns · 31/12/2021 00:09

Very rarely.

There always seems to be a supermarket shop, takeaway or milk from the local shop purchase or I need shampoo, fancy a bottle of wine or I remember that I need to order coffee.

SonicStars · 31/12/2021 00:42

I have weeks when I spend no money. Not enough of them mind you.

Meal plan, have some uht milk available and bread in the freezer. Friends over to your or a trip out somewhere free with a packed lunch.

Magnalux · 31/12/2021 00:47

During the lockdowns I hardly spent anything other than an occasional Asda shop (excluding household bills)

Fifthtimelucky · 31/12/2021 09:32

In a normal week, I don't spend any money most days. I go to the supermarket once a week and rarely need to top up in between. We don't often eat out or have takeaways. I do buy stuff online, but only around once a week on average. I don't pay on the day for most of the places I regularly go because I'm a member (things like the gym and National Trust places).

If I'm away on holiday I spend much more often, because I'm more likely to go out and eat out.

Redcrayons · 31/12/2021 09:35

Most days. I work from home so have no opponents to buy stuff.

Lockdown gave me a very sobering glimpse into my top up shopping habits.
