Or do you spend money each day

Not including essential bills and supermarket shopping, most days I don’t spend any money at all. I don’t go to cafes or restaurants or buy clothes etc. I don’t use Amazon or supermarket-shop online. The last thing I bought was a support ankle strap from Boots for my ankle.

Not really. It’s a special talent of mine. Confused

@Kite22

Wow, *@1AngelicFruitCake* - I don't remember seeing that thread. What an attitude ! Shock
I know! I quite enjoyed it at the time because it was a real eye opener of people’s attitudes to money.

This is such an eye opening thread. We are comfortably off but wouldn’t occur to me to spend every day or even close to. Interesting reading some of these replies

When DC were small we regularly spent no money. We would be out every day but would take packed lunch & flasks everywhere we went. It meant we could be out for hours and not spend a fortune.

These days a couple of cappuccinos & a biscuit can cost nearly £15 for me & DH! However, we only do that a couple of times a month. We do seem to spend a few days every week in the local Sainsbury’s though.

I spend most days and it needs to stop. I've been on a reduced salary since around May 2020 and it's taken a toll on my savings.

My news year's resolution is essential spending only.

Onthegrid · 31/12/2021 20:02

No spend her today, but if you count DH and I as a pair we spent yesterday as he did a top up food shop.
He still goes to work and I’m not sure if he spends anything on those days, I wfh and only go out a couple of times a week, if that.
I don’t need to spend less but I am having a no spend January.

Loads of days. That's why I have a four figure current account.

It gives me no pleasure at all. It comes at the expense of all those meals I would have had with family and friends, but haven't because of civid, it comes at the cost of holidays I've missed with a family firm I normally support.

What good is money when you cannot enjoy it alongside those you love? To me, the money is worthless. I'm spending the end of my life hoarding money I don't want or need.

Sighs, it's better than the very real problems that families face with escalating energy bills and increased in the cost of living. So I suppose I should count my blessings

PlanetNormal · 31/12/2021 20:11

Yes, all the time. I WFH FT and on the vast majority of working days I buy nothing so I spend £0.00p.

To answer a couple of questions- we live in walking distance of 7 supermarkets so passing and nipping in becomes a daily occurrence.

We don't meal plan, no. I'll plan a few days bit then plans will change and someone will want something different. Fruit/ bread tends to need replaced daily. (Teens/ packed lunches)we always tend to need something
Like
Shampoo
Blu tac
Socks
Lightbulbs
Painkillers
Obscure ingredient/ herb for recipe

Apart from bills and supermarket, I don’t spend money most days.
I buy myself and kids clothes if we need them and I buy books quite often but usually used or discounted.
I work part time and only take a bottle of water with me and use the day to do some intermittent fasting.
Even socialising with friends has mainly become a walk in the park these days with the odd meal or drink out.
Taking the kids out is somewhere for a walk, visiting family and the occasional paid for activity.
