Eating our 10-a-day thread (2)

Hi all

This is our second thread about upping our veg and fruit intake on a daily basis.

We tend to list what we've had to keep us accoubtable and generally chat about how to increase the rainbow on our plate.

We don't always make 10 but anything more than you would normally is great. I like to at least get 5. 10 or even sometimes more is a great day.

All welcome whatever reasons.

I may go eat a raw carrot now.😂

PartyOnKale · 22/01/2022 20:26

LimpLettuce that would be difficult.
Here's to better days ahead for us both!

TwentinQuarantino · 22/01/2022 23:54

Today was takeaway day and I really indulged as a result.

So all I had was -

  1. Banana
  2. Last night's left over dal for lunch
  3. 2 satsumas
3.5. Half an avocado (DS pinched other half)
TwentinQuarantino · 22/01/2022 23:54

A random 3 there for some reason!

Breathmiller · 23/01/2022 09:48

No kitchen is hard.

I had another mad day at work so very little food during the day then promise of a lovely thai but it was shut so I had a mcPlant burger and a (2😳) vg magnums for dinner. Not the most nutritious but it was tasty.

  1. Apple, carrot, spinach, ginger juice for breakfast and lunch
  2. Butternut squash, spinach and ginger soup.
1 date.

Bit paltry but it's one of my busiest days at work when I am just on fully for the whole day.

Hello! My first veg post.

Red onion, red pepper, peas, rocket, banana, satsuma, broccoli, cauliflower, cucumber, tomatoes, avocado. Does fruit cake count? -kidding 😁

TwentinQuarantino · 24/01/2022 23:07

I ordered some kimchi and tested a little by adding to my salad. It's not to my taste at all Sad Anyone here eat it, and if so what do you usually add it to?

PartyOnKale · 24/01/2022 23:12

Well done Chocolate Buttons!
Today I had:
1 salad+ veg sandwich: between 1 and 2 portions probably.
2 blueberries
3 broccoli, carrot
4 butternut squash
5 red pepper, peas, red onion
6 mixed berries,
We are eating through the freezer contents we didn't get to over Christmas hence the defrosted fruit twice.

ThisTownAintBigEnoughForBoth · 25/01/2022 07:48

Morning everyone, sorry if I don't catch up on all the posts, this is a drive by vegging.

Yesterday :
Apple, pear, pineapple with breakfast (1)
Nothing for lunch 😬
Orange juice , grapes (2)
Coleslaw with red cabbage, carrot and raisins for dinner (3)
Hummus (1?)
7 portions and I'm not convinced they were all full portions truly.
Hoping to do better today.

Twentin when I've had kimchi it's been gorgeous but has been when eating out. Once on an elaborate Asian kind of salad with nuts and noodles, once with a posh vegan burger with mayo, bacon bits, sriracha etc. It was lovely but very much part of the whole mix of tastes if you see what I mean.

ChocolateButtonsOfShame · 25/01/2022 22:22

Hi everyone.

Banana, raisins, avocado, tomatoes, mushrooms, apple, orange, grapes, kale... Not quite 10. Unless we count potatoes.

Thanks to the person who suggested mushroom and avocado toast. Boy very much enjoyed his first mushroom. Which he sucked and waived about.

PartyOnKale · 26/01/2022 09:40

Yesterday:
1& 2 mixed berries
3 red pepper, lettuce
4 red onion
5 shiitake mushroom, herbs
Half portion of broccoli, but hey it's a superfood!😉

PartyOnKale · 26/01/2022 09:42

I'm impressed at the high numbers fellow fruit and veggers. I am pretty happy to get over 5 at the moment.

PartyOnKale · 26/01/2022 09:50

ChocolateButtons, potatoes don't count but imho it's a bit of an unfortunate message the guidelines are sending as they are such a good affordable food with vitamins and minerals. They especially come into their own when feeding older children and young adults.
