When I got back to the car after parkrun, I had a completely flat tyre. Feeling accomplished to have sorted it myself though Smile

When I got home I had to take the plunger to the toilet.

What's next?

Remarkably chilled so far!

Walked the dog and had breakfast now waiting on DS gf to get back from the cemetery before opening gifts then of to my family for dinner.

Merry Christmas 🎄

Lovely and quiet.

ParkheadParadise · 25/12/2021 11:27

Been up since 5am
Just back from the Cemetery left a couple of miniature whiskies for my mum & dad and a JD for dd.
Dd2 is happily playing with all the new toys.
DH is in the kitchen getting ready for my family arriving later.
18 adults 12 kids for dinner 🙈 🙈
Merry Christmas 🎅

Strokethefurrywall · 25/12/2021 11:29

It’s 6.26am here, kids are still in bed although 7 year old had me up at 4.30 complaining that he hadn’t yet seen Santa and he’d not “slept a wink!”.
I’m watching the sun slowly rise (live in tropics), and drinking my coffee quietly before the madness begins.
Merry Christmas all!

IncompleteSenten · 25/12/2021 11:30

Really good.
Up at 6, everyone exchanged presents, we had an obscene amount of pastries for breakfast then I went back to bed. The kids (well, not kids, they're in their 20s 😂) went happily to their rooms to enjoy their new tech and games and stuff and my husband watched some news.
I'm back up now and he's gone for a nap. We'll eat a massive Christmas lunch, fall into food comas then play a board game this evening and have a few drinks.

Opal8 · 25/12/2021 11:38

Ds's (18 and 13) loved their gifts which I'm very relieved about as neither of them gave me a single idea!! 🙄
So dh and I got ds1 a download ticket as his main gift and ds2 had a bedroom revamp.
Dh loved his head torch 🤣🤣
Made pancakes for breakfast and just put the turkey crown in.
Mum is coming for lunch and games this afternoon.
Then I'll go the cemetery to see dad.
Have a lovely day all x

I've developed a cold - just a runny nose & sneezing, very mild, I don't think it's coronavirus as I'm still recovering from having that a couple weeks ago & haven't actually been anywhere to catch it again.

Also, I realised I forgot to wrap one of DD's presents. Something I spent bloody ages altering at her specific request. Maybe I can wrap it tonight & it can appear tomorrow. FFS...

Diditopknot · 25/12/2021 11:44

Think I’ve got covid.
Feel shocking. Did a home test kit and it’s negative but I’m sure of it.
Dh does everything for Christmas so I’m not needed at all today.
Had a bath with new smellies and had a nap.
Now just feeling sorry for myself, tummy churning, head banging, sore throat, coughing.
Leaving my poor mother on her own all day as was planning on going for breakfast with her.

But, kids happy, dh happy, so all in all, good up til now.

AnotherMansCause · 25/12/2021 11:45

DD did like her breakfast of waffles, I've used the recipe before & it's never failed me. And now she's playing on Miitopia.

DH is cooking dinner. Grin

LuluBlakey1 · 25/12/2021 11:45

Lovely. DH and I woke about 6, had a cup of tea in bed and opened our presents to each other. Both of us were very pleased. Children woke about 7.30. Opened their stockings on our bed - they were delighted but are pleased with anything to be honest so I wasn't worried.

They were bathed last night so have had hands and faces done and are dressed. I have hosed DH down in the shower- bin bag around pot on leg. He is dressed (in shorts and a tshirt) downstairs and on an armchair with a footstool.

I am showered and dressed. We have had breakfast and DC have opened under tree presents. They were so excited. DS1's favourite thing is a box of fossil sharks' teeth (they were DH's when he was little, in a box in PIL garage. FIL cleaned it up and it had DH's initials on which are the same as DS1 although their first name is different) and a fossilised bit of tree root that he thinks is a dinosaur claw. He is telling DH about the kind of dinosaur it came from and how they lived in our back garden.

DD did not get the 'real live fairy' or 'the river' that she wanted but she got a painting of fairies for her wall and a 'fairy jar' which twinkles and attracts them on summer nights. She is most excited about her little set of gardening stuff that FIL made her and her new bike.

DS2 just likes the boxes more than anything but does like his little bike and helmet.

They are all sitting on DH's chair with him and he's going to read ''Twas The Night Before Christmas' and they are going to sing a Christmas song each and I am sitting with a glass of champagne and my ipad for half an hour or as long as I can get away with it.

Just hoping DS2 is tantrum free today .

HangingOver · 25/12/2021 11:47

I'm going to the gym 😂

MrsDThomas · 25/12/2021 11:52

Chilled! Been for a run, presents open. 3rd Bucks fizz of the morning. Yorkshire puddings in the oven, roast potatoes in next. Aim to eat before 1:30.

DropYourSword · 25/12/2021 11:53

Just didn’t live up to the pressure and expectation.
DS 5 really really wanted certain presents from Santa. He wasn’t interested in opening anything else as he was just looking for what he really wanted. In the end I abandoned the stocking (always my favourite thing as a child!) and just handed him the presents he wanted. Which he then happily played with for an hour or so before coming back to opening presents. He did like what he got but he was quite rude and stroppy through the day which is fairly unlike him.
By the time I’d laid out all the food I just didn’t really fancy it any more.
Had a nice time when friends arrived but got very loud and stressful at the end.
We’re tucked up in bed and DS fell asleep watching a movie.
It wasn’t a bad day, but not quite the perfect vision I imagined!

Ifonlyidknownthen · 25/12/2021 11:55

Woke up to a positive covid test so the day is cancelled, we were hosting all the family. Have very upset dc's 😏

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 25/12/2021 11:57

Totally chilled.

Watching the rocket launch thingy.

Parents coming over for lunch, all of which I prepped yesterday and just need to bung into the oven.

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 25/12/2021 11:58

Although DS stubbed his toe so badly it bled. But I’ve patched him up and I think he’ll survive.

Beebopawhop · 25/12/2021 11:58

DH getting mad none of the consoles or monitors work and irate kids whining nothing works while I'm rushing around peeling Brussels and burning myself on goose fat. Oh and in iso.

YuleiamsaidI · 25/12/2021 12:00

Lack of sleep taking its toll and still a full day with the kids ahead but just found out I'm going to be an aunt again Xmas Smile

SequinnedShawl · 25/12/2021 12:01

Just us two today. We had words last night and he's huffing and sulking about it.

Reason? He dislikes Christmas and birthdays and begrudges anyone that likes to celebrate them. Sad

IcedAbstinente · 25/12/2021 12:06

I had the most amazing present from the Dcs - a silver bracelet with a seaglass pendant on it. They know I adore seaglass and marched DH to the shop to buy it for me. :)

I also got some bells for Number One dog. She's almost blind and i had said i wanted bells to hold and ring for when we went on our walks so she knows where I am.

I am thrilled as both things were something I had mentioned at some point casually (not with gifts in mind) and the Dcs and DH remembered. :)

Queenie24 · 25/12/2021 12:08

My eldest daughter is working today so we were up early to do stockings DH had a positive PCR result yesterday (we are negative) so the plans of my sister, her family and my step son coming for dinner is out the window. 😢
We have just been chilling watching rubbish on tv. Dogs are happy not to go out as it’s raining.

Purplecatshopaholic · 25/12/2021 12:13

Lovely and chilled. Lie in. Cheesecake for breakfast. Currently on the sofa with the dog in his Christmas jumper watching shite on the iPad with the OH. Love it Xmas Smile

AnotherMansCause · 25/12/2021 12:18

Thanks for the reminder to prep the sprouts! Doing them now.

Starcaller · 25/12/2021 12:19

Lovely! And I've snuck away for a nap while DD is playing with her new toys Grin

PotatoOfTheNight · 25/12/2021 12:22

Lovely so far.

DD had us all up at 7:30 (she's 21 Hmm), presents opened, DS made breakfast, I poured the Bucks Fizz.
They've gone out to visit friends for a couple of hours. Me, DH and youngest son have chilled and are about to take the dog out for a long walk, then we're all off to my sisters this afternoon for Xmas Dinner.
