Ever watched a new show you love and no-one else has seen it?

I just started watching This Is Us this week and I’m completely hooked but no-one else I know has seen it or wants to see it. It’s rubbish when this happens and you want someone else to get excited about it with you. It was the same when I watched Fleabag and The End of the Fucking World. Ever had this happen to you?
@Sagealicious Ooooo, can you tell me which or is that not allowed. I don't think I got all of season 3.
It's on Stan

Ages ago I watched People Just do Nothing when no one else had heard of it. It was so frustrating cos I just wanted someone to go ‘ah yeah it’s so funny innit’

@CaptainHammer LOVE what we do in the shadows. So well executed. Have you seen the most recent season?

@NutellaEllaElla loved the first and last series of Jane the Virgin but it went kind of weird for me in the middle... but was so fond of the characters I almost didn't mind.

@CaptainHammer Nurse Jackie was brilliant.

Sidge · 24/12/2021 14:00

Things I loved that no one I know seemed to watch

The Boys
Gangs of London
Young Sheldon
The Cleaner

PathOfLeastResitance · 24/12/2021 14:10

It’s Shrill for me. Loved it and none of my friends have heard of it.

I thought the first few episodes were good but then I was finding myself just watching it to take the piss because it got so bad so quickly. It’s like a Hallmark movie but in TV series form!

Elite is very good as is Kevin Can F Himself. Shtisel is amazing. It gets mentioned a lot on Mumsnet but don’t know anyone who has seen it in real life. Sadly, I don’t think they’re making anymore, but the ending was perfect.

Another one that’s popular, but nobody I know watches, is Bojack Horseman. It’s not to everyone’s taste but from mid season one onwards it gets so good. If you like the sort of Mad Men/Breaking Bad antihero type shows then you should watch.

I fell in love with New Nurses on Channel 4 earlier on this year. It's Danish and set in 1952 I believe, when they were training up men to work as nurses for the first time (it may have been inspired by real life but I think it was total fiction). I really enjoyed it, I love Call the Midwife and Downton Abbey and view it in the same way. There's only 2 or 3 series and I think it's still available in the Walter Presents world section. Main male character is gorgeous too!!

anunseemlylovefordustin · 24/12/2021 14:35

Came on to say Nurse Jackie (I've never found ANYONE who's ever watched it) and now placemarking for all the other suggestions!

Jobseeker19 · 24/12/2021 14:43

No one has mentioned mine yet !

 1. The Comeback
 2. This Country

Both very funny with laugh out loud moments.

Jericho. About 15 years ago.

LegoMasters and LegoMasters Australia (though not US version as it s too OTT). I normally have little interest in lego but love this programme. Can't even get lego loving friends to watch.

Constantly as we watch a lot of foreign TV shows and everyone says "oh I can't watch anything with subtitles" so we rarely get to talk about any TV. So much great TV they are missing out on.

Diditopknot · 24/12/2021 15:05

Schitts creek is bloody AWSOME.
What we do in the shadows fabulous!

Currently watching the morning show, really good.

I might start a subtitled shows thread on Telly Addicts. I watch a lot of French and Spanish dramas. All4 has lots.
Mylee · 24/12/2021 15:52

How to get away with murder. I ended up convincing 5 people I worked with to watch it and they all loved itGrin

scurryfunger · 24/12/2021 15:54

Oh and RITA!

luckylady22 · 24/12/2021 15:58

I love This is Us but you're right not many people I know have watched it
Can't wait for January when new season starts

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 24/12/2021 16:00

Earlier this year I got completely hooked on a Korean Netflix show called Strong Girl Bong Soon. It was dreadful and also compulsive viewing. I bet that even on MN, which has a huge range of people, nobody else has seen it.

FixItUpChappie · 24/12/2021 16:02

Yes! I really really like that "Alex Rider" show on Prime but I don't know anyone who has ever even heard of it - blank stares and crickets when I mention it. It worries me as I want more seasons. Therefore I try to mention it when I can Grin

MirthlessChuckle · 24/12/2021 16:09

We've just started watching Shtisel, and we're only on episode two, but it's a fascinating insight into this whole other world and way of living. The bit with the grandma's tv at the end of episode one almost made me cry!

Based on this thread I'll try Young Sheldon later, I'd just assumed it was rubbish.

Mine is Parks and Rec and BBC's Ghosts - no one in "real life" seems to have heard of them or be interested!
