Why are you awake?

Here for solidarity.

Poorly DD who is 14 months and coughing a lot and wheezing a little - can't sleep properly and I'm keeping a regular eye on her. And bloody DH snoring again. Once I'm awake and I hear him, that's it. He has partially untreated sleep apnoea. Had had an op before we met in his 20s but refuses to investigate further and we don't have a spare room that either of us can hide in when needed unfortunately.

Both DDs have been tag teaming illness for months and my average sleep has been 4 hours a night since September. I'm really struggling. Together with coronavirus anxiety, it's sent me quite mental. I keep shouting or crying and I know it's mostly lack of sleep.

I'm up feeding my 9 week old, husband also snoring next to me.

It's no surprise your feeling the way you are. Sounds like a tough few months! Could you not take the sofa tonight just for a couple of hours sleep?

disawal · 23/12/2021 02:59

I’m sorry to hear your baby is unwell, I hope she gets better soon.

Here pregnancy hormones and argument with husband have made me too upset to go to bed. Just went for fresh air at almost 3 in the morning lol

YukoandHiro · 23/12/2021 03:01

@Sweetsaremyfave well the baby is still in our room so I can check her most comfortably by being in my own bed. But if we manage to stay with relatives this weekend I will definitely be throwing him into the spare room if he's as bad.

I haven’t slept properly for weeks, cried buckets wrapping presents, phoned my friend who kept me company for 1.5 hours whilst I finished them and I’ve woken up again after 1 hour sleep,

No work for 12 days now hurrah but I’m dreading Xmas day.

I’ve just popped a sleeping pill and listening to an Enid blyton audio book and hoping to drift soon.

Dds are all going shopping in the morning so hopefully I’ll have a bit of peace!

RockAndRollerskate · 23/12/2021 03:13

Cluster feeding 4 day old. First night home from hospital so don’t mind at much.

@YukoandHiro hope everyone is on the mend.

Bigbouncingbaby · 23/12/2021 03:15

No idea I can’t sleep . Recently been walking at 3 am most days now it was 2 a new level of fun …. Anxiety 😟 who knows may as well have a baby 🤷‍♀️

TangBloodyFastic · 23/12/2021 03:15

Can't sleep while my 1yr old has a temp, keep getting up to check her 39.3 at 1am, down to 37.9 at 2:00 and now creeping back up to 38.3
More medication and will check again in half an hour.
I hate my kids being ill it's such a worry so I'm with you @YukoandHiro

Up with my 12 week old for the night feeds and full of envy for my DH who's sleeping like a baby unaware that I've been up for over an hour
BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 23/12/2021 03:17

Asthmatic 4yo & asthmatic me, both having a flare up. Will be calling the gp first thing for steroids for both of us, again.

WineGetsMeThroughIt · 23/12/2021 03:18

I have ADHD and don't sleep much. Normal bedtime is 2am. I've wasted 2hrs on my phone, literally doing I have no idea what! Thank goodness my children are good sleepers.

Wishing you all a goodnight sleep once you actually get there!

YukoandHiro · 23/12/2021 03:18

Glad to hear it's not just me @ghostmouse - why are you dreading Xmas day in particular?

Congratulations @RockAndRollerskate. It makes such a difference being back in your own bed doesn't it. Hope your recovery is going well

Ugh it's the worst @TangBloodyFastic - baby and this at the weekend then temp went (as soon as I'd booked a Gp appt) and the cough arrived. Now it's deep on her chest. It all makes me so anxious. Plus with all the covid testing the last year has been fairly awful tbh

I’ve just got back from doing the food shop. Apart from the staff I only saw one other person. Lovely 😊

Carbis · 23/12/2021 03:21

That sounds really rough OP. I hope you get some rest soon.

My 7 week old is back to only sleeping when I hold him again. I’ve been getting snatches of 30 mins here and there when he lets me briefly put him down. I’m feeling pretty fed up but feeling like this isn’t so bad compared with the months you’ve had to endure OP.

I have a 21 month old too who magically started sleeping 8pm - 7am when the baby was born and DP took over 🤷🏻‍♀️

DaisyWaldron · 23/12/2021 03:21

I had a nightmare and then some cats were fighting outside, so I'm waiting for the adrenaline to subside before I even try to go back to sleep.

Spottyphonecase24 · 23/12/2021 03:22

Hope you all manage to get some sleep soon

MintJulia · 23/12/2021 03:22

I hope you both get a bit of peace soon. Being short of sleep is awful.

I've just woken up on the sofa and come up to bed. My ds13 is fast asleep.

I'm just past my first round of chemo (lump in my boob) so temperature checks and then I'm back to sleep. I have slightly flushed cheek bones but otherwise, all ok so I'm back to sleep I hope.
Happy Christmas x

OnTheHillNotOverIt · 23/12/2021 03:32

Flowers for those with ill kids or unwell themselves.

All the night feeding talk took me right back. Mine are teens so fast asleep.

I’ve been woken by hot flushes, itchy feet and itchy vulva. Not sure whether to put canesten or oestrogen cream on it. BlushConfused

DH snoring away. I might elbow him in a minute.

Haggisfish3 · 23/12/2021 03:33

Oh sorry for those of you with poorly dc. My dd has covid but, touch wood, so far she’s not too bad with it. She’s eleven and a bit more robust as well. And well done on early
Morning food shop-feel like going myself! I’m awake because I drank too much wine and been on phone too much. It’s very frustrating. Hope everyone gets a bit of sleep at some point.

Jinglemychristmasbells · 23/12/2021 03:34

Changing my 7 week olds nappy. Then going to feed him. Hopefully get back to bed before 4 year old wakes at 5.30.

slapmyarseandcallmemary · 23/12/2021 03:36

28 weeks pregnant, needed bathroom. My 4 year old has been poorly and woke up so my wife has taken him downstairs as he won't settle and didn't want to wake our 2 year old. I also have a really painful sore throat, finding it difficult to swallow, which is preventing me getting back to sleep 😩

ronniemipperton · 23/12/2021 03:41

Also have an (almost) 7 week old who has decided she hates the crib. Unfortunately she’s also not in the mood for sleeping on me so I’m a bit stumped.

ShesGotAMapOfTheWorld · 23/12/2021 03:43

I've not slept well since January, but it's particularly bad this week with anxiety. I think I've met someone I like who seems to like me, but my situation is complicated and I think I can only be friends with him - so for now I lay awake thinking about him. Pathetic hey?!

gindreams · 23/12/2021 03:45
