Do you put presents under the tree?

Me and OH have this same disagreement every year! He likes to put them under the tree Christmas Eve night and I just like to put them
Under the tree when they are wrapped, so they are out of the way! I can't even get into the bloody cupboard.

Kids aren't too fussed about "santa" and know we get them presents but I do put the little stocking fillers out on Christmas Eve night and say santa brought them.

What do you do with yours?

I prefer putting them down in the evening to reduce the amount of available poking time.

Hemingwayscatz · 22/12/2021 15:57

They’re in the loft until Christmas Eve night when we bring them all down, family gifts go under the tree as and when they arrive.

wendz86 · 22/12/2021 15:59

Always christmas eve, otherwise kids would be poking them etc.

I put them under the tree when I wrap them. Santa brings just one present in our home so that is the only one that remains hidden until christmas morning. They look beautiful under the tree and I’m always a little bit sad when they’re gone.

BurbageBrook · 22/12/2021 16:04

Under the tree as soon as wrapped. Cats tend to leave them alone.

KupoNutCoffee · 22/12/2021 16:04

When we were younger, all the relatives' gifts went under the tree until they were distributed - and normally replaced with their gifts for us.

So there was always some gifts under the tree, but presents from our parents/santa - appeared on Christmas Day (probably some mad wrapping going on). Basically if we'd see them (wrapped) they went under the tree, if not then they 'arrrived' on the day.

IKnowAPlace · 22/12/2021 16:05

Christmas Eve. I like to lay out little piles for everyone in the house to wake up to.

Sanch1 · 22/12/2021 16:14

As and when wrapped, can't stand them clogging up cupboards! The kids are really good and don't poke them. In our house only the stocking presents come from Santa so putting them under the tree is no issue.

TheCanyon · 22/12/2021 16:18

Mine are all still unwrapped in the cupboard of doom. I usually wrap them and hide them under the sofa until Xmas eve.

over2021 · 22/12/2021 16:18

I have nicely wrapped up empty boxes under my tree for aesthetic effect Blush

all the proper presents go under on Xmas eve

CariadWelshcake · 22/12/2021 16:20

Nothing goes under the tree till the early hours of Christmas morning - at about 12.30 am.

OldTinHat · 22/12/2021 16:22

I dont have small DC anymore so everything goes under the tree. But not this year - although I'm 98% sure, I can't guarantee that Mr Mouse and his extended family won't turn up with his friends to get stuck into the goodies left on the floor.

Allsorts1 · 22/12/2021 16:22

Under the tree once they are wrapped because it looks gorgeous and also serves as a convenient means of storage! I don’t know
Where I would put them otherwise. Plus it adds to the excitement to have to try and guess

PinkyU · 22/12/2021 16:23

All presents come from Santa here so all magically appear early hours of Christmas morning. Family gifts do go under the tree.

They are presented on the sofas so as to demarcate each child’s gifts. So none actually go under the tree.

poorbuthappy · 22/12/2021 16:23

Presents given by others this year are under the tree.
Our household presents are upstairs until Christmas eve,
Combination of the kids getting older and the dog being more trustworthy this year Grin

ChiefWiggumsBoy · 22/12/2021 16:24

Mine go out as they are wrapped. Santa gifts are not wrapped they go straight in the stocking.

Redcrayons · 22/12/2021 16:25

I’ve always done presents in Santa sacks as a surprise. However mine are older now and I’ve realised it’s a bit ridiculous. I’m wondering if I should just shove them under the tree like i do with all the others.

NumaNumaYay · 22/12/2021 16:26

We always did this, but I remember being anxious as it got closer to Christmas that there were hardly any presents under the tree - ds7 is asking when we can put presents under (i think he wants to see a proper tree with loads of presents under!) I think we'll put them under tomorrow or Christmas eve. DH is arguing for this, so it looks more festive for longer.

I'm worried about young dc poking them, but to be fair they have left the Nana's/aunts' ones that are already under there well alone (after an initial appraisal! )

Probably also best if I'm forced to wrap everything tonight so that if we have forgotten something we have time to rectify it!

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 22/12/2021 16:27

Father Christmas brings the stockings in our house. Other presents go straight under the tree.

MajorCarolDanvers · 22/12/2021 16:27

No. We have a few more years of Santa.

Once we are passed that they will go under the tree.

StFrancisdeCompostela · 22/12/2021 16:28

I don’t. My 1yo would see that as a challenge 😬

Bluntness100 · 22/12/2021 16:29

All under the tree Christmas Eve. We are all adults but sitting looking at the pressies gathering dust under the tree for days or weeks before seems fairly anticlimactic to me.

Pinkchocolate · 22/12/2021 16:31

Once wrapped all presents are under the tree. We save Santa’s for Christmas Eve wrapping obviously.

BalladOfBarryAndFreda · 22/12/2021 16:31

No, because the dog would bugger about with them.

Twizbe · 22/12/2021 16:31

They don't go out until Xmas morning. Very tempting for burglars if they are out any earlier.

When I was a kid our neighbours were burgled on Xmas eve and the presents stolen.
