Do you put presents under the tree?

Me and OH have this same disagreement every year! He likes to put them under the tree Christmas Eve night and I just like to put them
Under the tree when they are wrapped, so they are out of the way! I can't even get into the bloody cupboard.

Kids aren't too fussed about "santa" and know we get them presents but I do put the little stocking fillers out on Christmas Eve night and say santa brought them.

What do you do with yours?

Presents go under the tree after DD goes to bed on Christmas Eve, so she comes down to them all piled up under in in the morning, with the tree lights twinkling. She's 21 now and still loves it this way 😁

Babdoc · 22/12/2021 16:32

Presents under the tree as soon as they arrived or were wrapped. I only hid the stocking presents, which were supposedly from Santa.
My DDs were very good and never poked them - not even when they were toddlers. My current cat, however, removed her own present from under the pile, opened it with a surgical incision from her claw, and extracted the catnip mouse to play with a week early!
I can only assume she smelled it through the wrapping. This year’s present is sealed in plastic…Grin

I haven't this year as our tree is dropping leaves but will do on Christmas Day

All presents except for the kid’s presents! They wouldn’t be able to resist...

FawnFrenchieMum · 22/12/2021 16:34

Adults gifts under the tree, both ones we have been given and ones we’ve not handed out yet. All children’s gifts get ‘sent to Santa’ for him to deliver on Christmas Eve. They would spend far too much time poking and shaking if they were there, plus I love the excitement of coming down on Christmas morning and he’s been. Even the teen manages to crack a smile at that!

OGenkiDesuKa · 22/12/2021 16:36

It’s my husband that does the shaking and poking and trying to guess in this house, the children don’t touch them. He clearly grew up in a house without a wooden spoon!

Youhaveyourhandsfull · 22/12/2021 16:36

Ours are all under the tree. No space in our wardrobes otherwise. They’ve been there a few days and the kids seem to take turns arranging them. They are all number coded so nobody knows who has what until it’s time to open them.

Starcaller · 22/12/2021 16:37

As they are wrapped! Fun to have a squeeze and watch the pile grow. And a tree with no presents under looks a bit bare to me.

wineandchocolateforthewin · 22/12/2021 16:38

Ours are under the tree once wrapped, her bag from Santa gets put out Christmas eve (obviously)
Thankfully she leaves them alone

escapingthecity · 22/12/2021 16:40

Before kids, we put them out when they were wrapped/when we were given them. Now we have a toddler, we'll put them out on Christmas Eve after he's gone to bed.

onemouseplace · 22/12/2021 16:41

Straight under the tree when wrapped here. Santa does stocking. DD3 has spent hours this year rearranging them into piles.

Roselilly36 · 22/12/2021 16:43

My DS are adults, so yes under the tree, when they were children took them downstairs when they were asleep on Christmas Eve.

SmallElephant · 22/12/2021 16:46

The ones that arrive from friends and family go under the tree, but not the ones from Santa.

IJustNamedYourPenis · 22/12/2021 16:47

When I was a child no presents at all went under the tree until after I went to bed on Christmas eve, even well past the Santa years. I do the same with my DCs now, but this year I’ll probably be in bed before them and end up doing it on Christmas morning before they get up!

snuffykins · 22/12/2021 16:48

Presents go under the tree when wrapped.

Santa's unwrapped pile of presents appeared for Christmas morning.

LavenderAskew · 22/12/2021 16:49

As they are received or wrapped. Except the Santa presents, which come out Christmas morning.

girlmom21 · 22/12/2021 16:50

Most gifts are hidden away until Xmas Eve. All the gifts that have been handed over by neighbours (they've been generous!) and friends are under the tree.

The 2.5 year old has hardly even bothered looking at them - apart from the ones she worked out were chocolate before putting them under there Grin

Blossom64265 · 22/12/2021 16:53

Under the tree as wrapped

It adds to the anticipation

It’s easier for the parents

It helps keep the cats away from the tree. Once the boxes are there, they tend to leave it alone.

gifts from FC appear on Christmas Eve.

Daenerys77 · 22/12/2021 17:02

What tree?

InMySpareTime · 22/12/2021 17:28

We have adult DCs so are well past the FC stage, but here presents get wedged in among the branches of the tree as they arrive/are wrapped/I find the ones I stashed earlier in the year.
It makes the tree look increasingly full and festive as the big day approaches, and all the decorations round the tree discourages poking.
Christmas morning is a Jenga challenge of getting all the presents out without knocking the tree decorations off.

SFisnotsimple · 22/12/2021 17:32

Out once wrapped, teens have a slight poke but mostly better these days at delayed gratification. Have to leave a gap for cat and ensure chocolate gifts are not on floor because of underfloor heating

Sagaris · 22/12/2021 17:46

No! We have beagles.......they would see them as fair game and unwrap the lot! Grin

Juanbablo · 22/12/2021 17:48

Yes we put them under the tree. As they are wrapped or arrive from family they go under. As do presents for the pets and for anyone who will be visiting us over Christmas. The kids and animals have always been remarkably good about it. The kids will have a look every now and then but not much.

WowIlikereallyhateyou · 22/12/2021 17:48

I don’t like to see them all out until Christmas eve, last thing. Always done this.

RubyFakeLips · 22/12/2021 17:53

Under the tree asap. We've had some under our since beginning of December, always think it looks a bit sad without gifts under it.
