Would you put your Christmas tree up if you were on your own?

For various Covid related reasons I'm going to be on my own on Christmas day. I'm ok about it but don't have the motivation to put my tree up. I have some lovely ornaments and it looks beautiful when it's up but cos it's just me, I can't be bothered! It might cheer me up to do it, but everything's so grim right now, what's the point...?

I might be alone yet OP, I've put my small one (3ft) up but can't summon up the energy for anything else this year even if I am not.

I’d probably feel like you but I think I would put it up in the end - and be glad I did. Nice things are worth doing because you deserve nice things.

Yes, definitely. The tree is hands down my favourite thing about Christmas. I love my peaceful living room.

Yes. Get yourself a bottle of Baileys a bag of ice. Put some Christmas music/film on and you'll feel glad you did. Hope you have a nice chilled Christmas x

It depends if you would actually enjoy the process of putting it up. If the answer is no, then personally I wouldn’t bother and would embrace the un-Christmassy Christmas this year.

Put on Carols from King’s (YouTube/Prime/Spotify/etc), pour yourself a glass of something festive and put up your beautiful tree. 🎄

Afterwards how about watching The Bishop’s Wife (free on Amazon Prime atm).

Yes definitely. I always had a tree up when I lived by myself. It’s just lovely to enjoy, it doesn’t matter how many people see it

No but I'd find it more hassle than it is worth. I'd maybe hang up a few strings of lights though.

I hate decorating the tree. If I was on my own I either wouldn't bother or I would buy a very small fibre optic tree or even a tiny real one that just needs a couple of decorations.

For me no. I live with my family and we aren't putting it up this year! I've looked for a table top one but can't find one!

It’s really up to you, isn’t it OP. I live alone, as does one of my DDs, and we both have a tree up.
When DH was alive, and we used to spend Xmas with his parents in England, we still put up a tree ourselves for the days before and after our trip.
You deserve a nice Christmas just as much as people who will not be alone.

I always used to put mine up when I was on my own as it made it more cheery and made me not feel so out of things when I saw other peoples trees. Also, put a load of tree chocolate decorations on it so you have something to look forward to!

Yup, and I'd probably buy a whole new set of decorations despite having enough for about 3 trees (green and gold colour scheme is on my wishlist).

No your Christmas is my dream Christmas. I only put up the tree because the dc would be disappointed. Left to me I wouldn't bother with Christmas at all.

I wasn't going to bother as also on my own but I forced myself. I put some music on, decorated it and then sat down with a glass of wine and a mince pie to rewards myself. Made me feel better than expected and now I enjoy putting the lights on every morning and enjoying my cuppa infront of it whilst it's still dark x
