No. 1 item on your Christmas dinner plate

We were talking about Christmas dinner and the must haves and the bits you would sacrifice. It would seem I am an oddity. I was the only one to put bread sauce at number one. With sage and onion stuffing coming a close second, followed by cranberry sauce. I would sack off the pigs and blankets and parsnips any day. Anyone else?

  1. Pigs in blankets
  2. Stuffing
  3. Cranberry Sauce

I'd happily sack everything else off and just eat those together!

  1. Roast potatoes
  1. Stuffing
  2. Yorkshire pudding

Cannot bear pigs in blankets. Love bread sauce.

defintiely stuffing with chestnuts is IN. Parsnips out.

Read the title of your post and my 1st thought was bread sauce. Christmas Dinner isn't Christmas Dinner without it.

JustBkind · 13/12/2021 17:26
  1. Sprouts
  2. Cauliflower cheese
  3. Stuffing

But to be honest I love everything because it just wouldn’t be Christmas dinner without turkey and all the trimmings! 🤗

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 13/12/2021 17:27

Not having a traditional Christmas dinner this year though. Am having paella 🥘

Thatsplentyjack · 13/12/2021 17:28

I would happily just have the stuffing (my mums. All other stuffing is pretty shit) roast potatoes (mine because my mums are shit) and gravy. We are equally good at making gravy, although I would say hers needs to be a bit thicker, bit I like it thick.

If I had to only choose one it would be stuffing.

gogohm · 13/12/2021 17:29

Pork and sage stuffing, my recipe though

Chemenger · 13/12/2021 17:30

Turkey
Roast potatoes
Sprouts

Could do without bread sauce (looks revolting, have never tasted it and never will, although apparently, I make it beautifully) and red cabbage (not bothering this year).

tangyandsalty · 13/12/2021 17:32

My essentials apart from the turkey are
Roast potatoes
Good gravy
pigs in blankets

But to be honest I want all of it. Could probably live without the veg.

Bobbybobbins · 13/12/2021 17:33

Must haves/premier league:
Roast potatoes
Gravy
Turkey
Carrots
Pigs in blankets

Division one:
Broccoli
Parsnips

Up for relegation:
Cranberry sauce

hellosunshineagainx · 13/12/2021 17:35

Roast potatoes and Gravy are essential closely followed by yorkshires

CMOTDibbler · 13/12/2021 17:35

Roast parsnips, roast potatoes. Frankly, not worried about anything else except yorkies

whereisthekey · 13/12/2021 17:35

Bread sauce
pigs in blankets
stuffing and sausage meat balls

purplesequins · 13/12/2021 17:37

brussel sprouts
I bloody love them!

bluechameleon · 13/12/2021 17:38

Roast potatoes then gravy. I would have had pigs in blankets in at number 3 but I've recently gone vegetarian so I'll put stuffing instead.

TheCreamCaker · 13/12/2021 17:38

Roast potatoes (done in goose fat)
carrots (oven-roasted with olive oil and herbs)
broccoli (also oven-roasted)

PurpleFadesToGreen · 13/12/2021 17:40

Sausage meat stuffing
Roast Potatoes
Pigs in blankets
Peas/Carrots
Gravy

GertrudeBElion · 13/12/2021 17:40

My homemade stuffing, roast potatoes and gravy

The meats, veg and pigs in blankets I love, but I could forsake for the above
