Something strange is happening in my bedroom and I can’t work out why!

I’m sorry, it’s not very exciting but I just don’t understand it.

I have a bedside cabinet, and about 6 weeks ago I noticed that there was some gritty rubbley type stuff on it. I wiped it away but later on there was more there. I thought I mustn’t have cleared it up properly so did it again, more thoroughly.

And basically, ever since, there’s nearly always this gritty stuff there! I can’t imagine where it’s coming from - there’s nothing above the cabinet except the ceiling and a hanging light but they don’t seem to be the source. I never hear it dropping onto the cabinet, or see it dropping, it’s just there!

Where is it coming from?!

Ants, wasps or ghosts.
Unscrew the ceiling rose and have a look in there.

where the hanging light is cut into ceiling?
woodworm or other bug and bug residue?

Is there a window nearby?

It's probably from the ceiling , maybe when the hanging light moves.

Do you have a child who plays football on astroturf? My ds does and I always find little pieces of it around the house!

Sounds a bit like what falls out of our chimney. So my bet is the ceiling rose somehow.

Spider poo? We have a small spider living on the ceiling above our kitchen window. She has laid a small sack of eggs and is guarding them. She poops every night and it falls down onto the same spot on the window sill, one dot of gritty poo the size of a small pin head that I clean up with kitchen roll and antibacterial spray every morning. I am fascinated by her. Not sure how long the eggs take to hatch but it has been a couple of months so I think they might not now.

We need a bedroom floor plan, with windows and door included.

We've had wasps using light fittings as exits although they're usually pretty inactive this time of year.

I’d guess dust/rubble from the ceiling light which due to the high winds we’ve had recently have found their way out

There’s no ceiling rose and the window is the other side of the room. It’s not fine grit, it’s coarse and there’s quite a lot of it. I’ll attach some boring pictures for you!

Really really hope it’s nothing to do with spiders!

And have you carefully checked to see if it's anywhere else in the room?

Love the Christmas tree costume

I’m not sure about the grit but I’d love to know the story behind the Christmas tree costume and three jars of picked onions.
Could the gritty stuff be from your dogs paw, is he jumping up there after treading on something?
Set up a camera to film the area then you’ll see it appear from somewhere hopefully.
