What is your favourite conspiracy theory?

I love the crazy conspiracy theories. So my favourite ones are that birds arent real and that Paul McCartney is dead and the man we see now is a lookalike.
What about you?

Just read the Denver airport one.

Now that is unsettling.

julieca · 07/12/2021 10:36

@Cattenberg I have read about that. The article decided she really was 122, but I can see how the theory of swapped identity could be true. It does seem unlikely that an individual has lived way longer than anyone else on earth, and in very good health and mobility to improbably old age.

Gaitskill who died quite young was actually poisoned by the Russians because they wanted a more left-wing Labour leader in Wilson

The Soviets have poisoned UK citizens long before Gaitskill, a tradition the Russians have continued since in the UK.
From WW2 the Soviets had spies at the highest levels of the civil service, academia and even in the Royal Family (Blunt)

MI5 had files on many Politicians of that era.

So its hardly a conspiracy.

TrickyD · 07/12/2021 10:39

My favourite is the Queen being head lizard. I imagine the family shuffling off their scaly skins and hastily putting on their church going outfits on Christmas Day.

Everything DH and I say near Alexa is beamed directly to the Kremlin,. Putin must think we lead a very dull liife.

Puzzled by Finland. We have been there and it seemed very solid to walk about on.

supermoonrising · 07/12/2021 10:43

We are all just in a simulation. Not even a very good one. This is "Earth 3" whereas the latest tech is already running "Earth 11".

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 07/12/2021 10:44

I read it on here but I think it deserves another airing...

If the earth really was flat, cats would have pushed everything off the edge by now.

supermoonrising · 07/12/2021 10:45

"Earth 3" hasn't even resolved the "funny bone" bug, though the avatars seem to get a kick out of it funnily enough.

SallyWebsterr · 07/12/2021 10:47

@Redrosesandsunsets

These are making me laugh. I’ve heard people believe and send info around saying all Covid vaccinated people will be self isolating by this Christmas with an unknown sickness, and then all people who have taken the vaccine will die by mid 2022. Wink ok then but how does that sit when it doesn’t happen? What will those people do with their beliefs? Extend them out to a later date? Who knows.
A family member of mine believes most of these CTs. They believed we were put into lockdown while Trump and the saviours got rid of the child abusers. Tom Hanks, Prince Charles, Prince Andrew, Oprah and Ellen were all being taken down and some didn't have covid when they said they did, they were under house arrest. Once it was all done and the "good forces" had won, they would announce what they had done and we would all be free. Obviously didnt happen so I enquired what happened afterwards and was told the plans had changed but they got done what they hoped to and to keep watching. I asked what happened and they just tend to start repeating that I dont understand and do I know Prince Philip ate children. You never get a straight answer, its like their minds are working faster than their mouths.

I find conspiracy theories generally quite upsetting. At the heart of most of them is a real person or people and often real suffering.

Having known people directly involved in the September 11 attacks, anything around those are especially distressing to me. Also, two close family members are NHS nurses and have had to walk in and out of their 12-hour shifts past people demonstrating that Covid is a hoax/conspiracy, screaming abuse, spitting at them, etc.

Some of the conspiracy theories (giant shape-shifting lizards, Q-anon, etc.) are so bizarre and delusional that they initially appear mildly amusing, but there's often real nastiness and hatred lying beneath. Sometimes I'm minded to feel sorry for people who are willing to believe such nonsense so entirely, but mostly they just make me angry at the lengths to which they are prepared to go in order to "prove" their views.

Sorry to be boring.

TeamEponine · 07/12/2021 10:48

Ummm, I just can't help myself...

The Finland one - how do they explain the shared borders with other countries? I mean, do they think that the Baltic Sea fills in the gap where we think Finland is, or do Sweden, Norway and Russia expand and meet mid "Finland"?

I just don't understand!?

EmmaWoodhousestreehouse · 07/12/2021 10:49

The CIA killed JFK.

I don’t personally believe that MI6 bumped off Diana, but having read several spy/MI5/MI6 books anything is possible.

ErrolTheDragon · 07/12/2021 10:50

... for a very low value of 'working'.Grin

TheRealMrsGrissom · 07/12/2021 10:53

Not really a conspiracy theory but my mum believed that Stevie Wonder wasn’t really blind and it was just a gimmick when he first started in the music industry to make him stand out. His worldwide fame then meant he’s had to continue the fake blindness.

Smorgasborb · 07/12/2021 10:56

@Grenlei

Just read the Denver airport one.

Weird isn't it. I don't know what to make of it. The author of the link I posted seems sceptical but massively weirded out. He's right when he says "While the art on display in these kinds of sites is usually crowd-pleasing, the DIA has been weirding out travelers for years. Who wants to see a painting of a gas-masked tyrant killing babies right before boarding a flight?"
LuluBlakey1 · 07/12/2021 10:58

@fluffythedragonslayer

I firmly believe Paul McCartney died and was replaced.

I also think the Queen is dead.

Why do you believe these things?

@Elliania

It wasn't the Titanic that sank, it was her already damaged sister ship who was sunk for the insurance money. According to this theory all the passengers were meant to be picked up but stuff went wrong.
Wasn't that the Olympia?
JudgeJ · 07/12/2021 11:04

@NameChanged15729

Denver International Airport is a secret base for the new world order. In all fairness when you read about how... well... bizarre the place is it doesn’t seem unbelievable. I’m more convinced it was somebody having a laugh though Grin
Having flown into there I'm not about to argue.
grapewine · 07/12/2021 11:05

@Gobbledygoo

The creator of The Simpsons is a time traveller.
Given what they've predicted, it makes sense Grin
youvegottenminuteslynn · 07/12/2021 11:07

@vickyp0llard

*This isn’t a conspiracy theory. There are sane contemporary philosophers who think we probably live in a computer simulation.

I can talk you through it again if you’re interested. The arguments are alarmingly sensible.*

I would love to hear about this one!

Me too! Genuinely, it sounds fascinating!
JudgeJ · 07/12/2021 11:08

@MamaWeasel

I thought the Titanic one was proven to be true Blush I watched a very compelling programme about it
There's an old book called How To Lie WIth Statistics, Darryl Huff, in it he claims Tell me what you want to prove and I'll prove it for you!
HectorPlasm · 07/12/2021 11:09

@MangoSeason

The most amazing thing about most conspiracy theories is the amount of evil competence and efficiency governments would need to pull them off. I mean, governments just aren’t capable of being competent and efficient. Or is that what they want us to think?
Amen to this. Governments can keep news of aliens quiet but can't fix potholes?
JudgeJ · 07/12/2021 11:10

@traka

Roswell
Such a dump, I would be surprised if any 'alien' or weather balloon would want to land there!
grapewine · 07/12/2021 11:11

@singleandlooking

That there has been a cure for cancer for years but the governments don’t release it so the pharmaceutical companies can carry on making millions from the sale of chemo etc
I can see this being the case. It's fucked up, but I can believe it.
