Might seem a daft request but I have neither in my home so these would be nice to see, especially at this time of year when flames and warmth are needed the most. Cats and dogs in the pictures, making the most of it all, are welcome 🙂.

Thankyou columbo. And to think how narked some people get about a zombie thread. No big deal.

I didn't realise for ages it was a zombie thread. I was confused by how many people had their Christmas decorations up already 🤣

Great thread!

Here's mine in the kitchen with obligatory dog 😉 We've another (multifuel) stove in the living room but that's currently out of action whilst we decorate etc.

It looks like a 1960s television!

Lol! That's what we thought when we first saw it in the showroom - and DH took some convincing to go for it - but we love it now ❤

I want this one. Minus the people and King Charles Spaniel. I'll take the radio as long as I don't have to listen to Alan Keith.

It's of its time and dominates the room. Hmm. Maybe not.

Does anyone have a gas stove? Looking to replace our old gas fire…..love the look of log burner stoves but want the ease of being able to flick on and off easily and have less mess…

Would you believe Central Victoria, Australia?

@sausage767 I think you've sent your DH outside in a kangaroo costume just to con us.🤣

geraniumsandsunshine · 26/10/2022 16:28

@sausage767 oh wow! That's rather amazing. Just a kangaroo popping up to say hi. I could easily have thought the UK until I saw that

2 cats enjoying open fire (a couple of years ago).
It was here when we moved in, nearly 40 years ago. We did change the fireplace though, from a shiny tiled 60s number Grin
I’d quite like a stove but it seems like too much upheaval Confused

Beautiful cats. Are they purebreds ?

No, just moggies 🙂
The further one is half Bengal (no idea about other half!) and the nearer, with white paws, is one of the abandoned kittens handreared by @Cailleach 9 years ago 🥰
(She’s actually much smaller than she looks there)

Here’s mine. Best change I ever made to this house. Sooo toasty, welcoming and comforting. Beloved dog is old now with achey bones, so has to sit in his bed on the sofa (princess, pea), but he used to lie beside the wood burner with his head underneath it, boiling his brains (other bed is still there, just in case).

This is ours, installed this year. The difference it's made has been quite surprising- it provides much better heat compared with radiators, which haven't been on at all this autumn so far.

They are usually all over the front lawn at dawn and dusk.

Our property and view is truly spectacular, we are very lucky. It’s very green in winter, but does turn golden in summer. We’re about an hour north of Melbourne airport, in a wine region.

We’re lucky to have about 30 acres of timber to feed the fire. My niece in the UK has a wood fire and I was shocked at the cost of buying wood, how do you all get wood for the fire?

I have a gas fire. Though haven’t had it in,I need to get it serviced - and photos it it on are on my old laptop.

I love it, in that it warms the sitting area of the living room, it looks cosy and there’s obviously no mess. But, with costs as they are, I probably wouldn’t be using it this winter - I’m happy with my heated throw. Rubbish photo, couldn’t find the flash option on my iPad!
