Might seem a daft request but I have neither in my home so these would be nice to see, especially at this time of year when flames and warmth are needed the most. Cats and dogs in the pictures, making the most of it all, are welcome 🙂.

Rufus- is yours electric? Please could you tell me which make/model?

Sorry, just seen this

Its a dimplex opti mist oakhurst, we love it. At a glance it looks real to a lot of people

Cats have a remarkable knack of finding the warmest spot to mellow out, even if it's not the most comfortable (being contortionists, comfort is less important). Our cats' favourite was the stairs in front of the east-facing window in the morning. It's a wonder no one tripped over them and through said window. Another cat used to perch on a pile of turf squares at the bottom of the garden, conveniently close to where a bonfire was often ablaze. He also used to hog the fireplace!

Here you go

Thankyou again everyone. Lousy weather just now as one would expect for December so these pictures have been quite the tonic. Temperatures in double figures round here this coming weekend.

Thoroughly enjoying these photos. Sadly no fire or log burner here but oh to have one, and a dog (or six!)

Enjoy you lucky lot!

You could see a picture of my stove but we had no other source of heat until central heating was fitted this summer so it has had 20 years of use and is more of a practical set up than pretty!

It hasn’t got anything round it (as it is lit for days on end so there would be the risk of stuff setting on fire).

It’s a Morso squirrel, for those in the know.

This is my favourite thread so far this month. Just lovely.

I wish I had real fires but the person who had the house before me removed every last shred of its period characteristics and just boarded over the builder's openings.

I wouldnt know where to begin getting one put in. Chimney sweep, builder or fireplace showroom?

Marmite27 · 07/12/2021 17:01

We had ours fitted at the beginning of November, here it is just after the room was painted and the floor redone.

We also had some damp fixed, new radiators and windows. Just got the storm covers to fit on the vents that are blowing a Gale under the house and then we should be set for a cosy winter!

I don’t have any with our dogs but here our fires. The one with the green chimney breast was only put in this January so it’s making its Christmas debut.

This is the one that used to be in a local pub years ago. I don't know why I photographed it but I'm glad I did - it means I can contribute to the thread more usefully. No cats or dogs allowed👎.

2 cats enjoying open fire (a couple of years ago).
It was here when we moved in, nearly 40 years ago. We did change the fireplace though, from a shiny tiled 60s number Grin
I’d quite like a stove but it seems like too much upheaval Confused

Just thought I'd revitalise this thread. I know it's unseasonably mild just now but it's also wet and miserable so perhaps a few home fires are burning, complete with approving cats and dogs.

I was inspired to clean the hearth ... only after taking the pic lol. Meet Evil Kitty, who destroys my carpet, pestered to lick bowl after my pumpkin soup (had cream in it) & generally terrorises all things small.

I love the way the whole family gravitate to it once it’s lit. It’s multi fuel, one of the most efficient on the market, only 5kw, but heats the house so no radiators used yet.
