What temperature is your thermostat set at?

Our heating comes on at about 6.30 am, and is set to 19 degrees. During the day, it doesn't come on, except if the temperature falls below 13 (Arctic). In the depths of winter when we're at home all day, obviously we'll turn it on.

In the evenings, it's also set to 19, but sometimes this doesn't really seem warm enough, so I up to about 21, which DH reckons is too hot.

Just wondering what everyone else does?

It is so completely pointless trying to compare the settings on thermostats in two different houses. Thermostat location plays a huge part. A thermostat in the hall set at 20 could still mean the bedroom temp is 18 and the lounge is 21. Aside from that, accurate temperature measurement is very tricky. Thermostats are not high quality scientific instruments. Two apparently identical ones, right next to each other could well register temperatures a couple of degrees apart. They are useful for maintaining and controlling your own environment. Completely pointless for comparing between homes.

we have ours set to 5, just to keep the ice from the windows. Then again we do get warmth from the camping stove once a month when we gather round to cook the chicken, before chopping it into portions to feed the 10 of us for the next 4 weeks.

Ours is set to 16. I turn it up if I'm cold. Usually turn it off when it gets to about 18 though. Any more than that and I'm too hot.
